Restaurant Matteo reviews
21A gem in South Park. This eatery gives back to the community directly. The food was tasty. Loved the Berry Salad. Michelle, our server, was funny and attentive. We'll be back!
Subpar place tbh. My panini came on focaccia bread that was partially cooked. It was not fluffy, but instead doughy and chewy and the cheese was not even melted all the way through. Also they don’t have the market or really any baked goods and I went at a decent hour on the weekend. My server was really nice but her coworkers were not that personable. Their bathroom is absolutely disgusting for a place that brings in so much volume. They really need to find a better place to put all of their cleaning stuff in instead of just being out in the open in their bathroom.
Awesome spot! The waitress was super friendly, food was delicious, and they let us bring in our dog for breakfast.
Vibe is always on point. Food is great with big portions. Potatoes are a highlight. Can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Icing on the cake is it’s totally nonprofit! One of my favorite restaurants in SD!
One of our favorite places to come for breakfast! Friendly staff and the food is always amazing! We definitely love the Christmas decor
So great! Loved the food, service, chill vibe, and overall purpose of Matteo. Our croissant and pizza sandwiches were great- highly recommend stopping in and hanging in the neighborhood.
My boyfriend and I found this place while visiting from Chicago. The woman at the front desk who sat us and also was our waitress was amazing! She was so sweet to talk to! We didn’t get her name, but we hope she sees this. The food and drinks here are also insanely good and well made that we had to come back a second time while on our trip. We would definitely come back here again next time we visit San Diego!
The best thing about Sunday brunch at Matteo's, besides the food, is the DJ they have out front!
Great vibes for Sunday brunch! They were busy so service was a bit slow. Food was tasty but a little on the heavy side. Fantastic DJ playing outside!
Perfect pastries, great coffee, lovely place. Waitress was super sweet and the eggs Benedict were devoured, by me. Going back soon.
Excellent place for breakfast.
Food is plentiful, fresh and tasty and the place is great.
New York bagel was delicious.
Tasty brunch. Perfect service.
Nice atmosphere and great choice of sweet and savory. Little fresh fruit. Several original Italian products. High prices. But we will return
Brunch is busy. But, the wait can be tempered with an amazing cocktail while you listen to the bada$$ DJ spinning tunes outside.
Exceptional food and staff!
Old renovated Warehouse I forgot what the place was beforehand but not why I came. Food was delicious and fresh with their own spin of seasoning which I loved. We will be back.
"Stepped into this place and was instantly blown away! The vibe is infectious and the music is spot on. Haven't even had the chance to taste their food, but if it's anything like their atmosphere, I'm in for a treat. Strongly suggest checking it out on Sundays. Team Positivity Our Way gives it a thumbs up! Let's grow together! "
Update! Food Bomb too! Sheesh!
We really enjoyed breakfast. We ordered half orden of french toasts, the avocado toast, pancakes. Food is freshly made with seasonal ingredients. Prices are average for the zone. I really like drip coffee and the atmosphere. There was a dj playing music.
I also enjoy the sourdough toast. It's made in-house.
We got a table in 10 minutes, fast service.
The huevos rancheros and the tiramisu French toast is a must. Good portions and doesn’t leave you feeling icky or too full- just satisfied. The coffee was good as well! Star off for the huge amount of flies in the bakery display- I couldn’t stop staring at it.
So this place has a great vibe and friendly servers. The brioche French toast tasted a bit burnt/bitter and it was confusing because I normally loveee French toast. Tart was good not great, coffee was good not great. My biggest gripe with this place is their CHAIRS! Good lord they were uncomfortable. I’m 6”0 200 pounds and the rods dig into my hip bones when I sat in it upright, forcing bad posture. They need to get cushions or new chairs 100%.
Overall ok, gave 4 stars instead of 3 because vibe was great and service was nice
The food was all right, but just average. Service was poor and unattentive, which was disappointing. I don't intend to return.
My partner and I ordered the bacon pancakes and original benedict. The benedict was great, especially the english muffin, but the pancakes didn’t taste like anything special.
The service left a lot to be desired. We were seated outside but on the very right side which felt isolated from everyone and too close to the cars parked next to the parklet. There was an open 4 top that was given to another couple that came in after us. We were given a carafe for water but no cups and nobody came by to see how we were doing for a while. We then asked to take a table inside because of the lack of attention and also flies. Moving inside didn’t do much to help either. We had to flag someone down to take our order when the waitress took her time chatting with other patrons. The outside was busy while the inside was mostly empty:/ When food came out we CONSTANTLY had to shoo flies away. One drowned in the oily potatoes that came with the benedict.
