Max's Restaurant, Cuisine of the Philippines, Chula Vista reviews
18They require you to sign in on a tablet with your name and personal information to eat here. I asked if it was required to eat in and pay cash, the hostess said yes. So I said thanks and walked over to Rubios who took my cash.
Interesting unbreaded fried chicken with garlic rice. The banana ketchup with hot sauce was delish!
Bought sisig crispy pork, kare kare, and whole fried chicken. Sisig consisted of old left over meat and tasted like it is spoiled pork. Kare kare broth tasted like it came from a packaged sauce, not fresh at all. Only redeeming part of meal is the chicken which is ok but salty. Everything was overpriced and definitely not worth it. I’m disappointed as I’ve eaten here before and it was not this bad. Better to go to national city if wanting to eat good Filipino food. Not recommended.
It is called "Max's Chicken" for a reason, so word of advice? Get anything fried! Everything else is not as good! I'm Filipina-American and I can tell you that their Laing (Taro Leaves In Coconut Milk) tasted and looked like tae with almost no coconut milk at all! They should have kept their pinakbet on the menu instead of the Laing! Their Lumpiang Shanghai (Egg Roll) may be delicious when cooked and eaten at the restaurant but by the time it's delivered to your home it'll be stale. Ensaladang Talong (Eggplant Salad) did not come with bagoong so that was disappointing and there were so many eggplant seeds. The winning dish is the Crispy Pata (Crispy Pork Hock)! 100 percent this is the only thing I'd order if I don't feel like cooking it myself! And of course the Max's Chicken is yummy! Chicken and Cripsy Pata only! Everything else just doesn’t feel good to eat. If you want some delicious ready to go food, head to Jochi’s Resto Grill on Orange Ave
The best thing on the menu was beef steak and they took it off the menu. Kept saying it's coming back but that's a lie.
Visited here recently again. Still a very pleasant place to get your Filipino food cravings satisfied. Despite the workforce crunch the service industry is experiencing, the service here remains top notch and with a smiling face. Good job Maneth!
Their fried chicken is delicious! Don't expect what you are used to. This chicken has no flour coating, but is DELICIOUS!
Disappointing! Only one guy works nearly 10 tables? Same guy that seats you. Same guy that answers the phone and takes phone orders. Same guy that cleans tables. Are you kidding? Just seeing all of that we knew we'd be waiting forever for our food. We left for another place that can seat us down immediately and serve us in 10 minutes.
Bad experience!
Ordered Inihaw na Liempo for Christmas Eve.picked up the food at 545pm, store closed at 6pm. When I got home i open the box of INIHAW na Liempo.and found a very greasy FRIED and not INIHAW na Liempo. Bad service MAX RESTAURANT!
It has good service do you guys doesn't have enough people today? Its look like doesn't have enough staff the person we saw here working today doing 2 jobs also the first customer before us is been waiting for while they already got their drinks but they still waiting on their food
Ordered fried chicken yest.terrible food is no good.lechon kawali too oily delivery took 1 hour and a half before we got it
Best filipino food in town! I love all their dishes! My favorites are sinigang baboy, sisig na baboy, and kare kare. Its a little pricey but worth it!
Tried this place 2nd time. Too bad Max is not there in National City but glad to have it near by. Excellent meals & service!
Max's Chicken is a fast-food representation of traditional Philippine cuisine. It misses the mark.
I'm only doing these reviews to help the pocket books of regular people.
Chicken was dry, pancet was plain, lumpia was ok but small.
Touted as "enough for multiple people" to eat on, could be considered as false advertisement. Price is astronomical for the quality, and quantity of the meal. Rice was good.
I was looking forward to trying the french fries with the 12 dollar chicken, they forgot the fries.
70 dollars after 5 dollar tip.
Once again, my opinion only based on my experience.
We went here last sunday to have dinner, I called in at 430pm and were told that they are accepting dine in customers. We came in at aroune 5pm and was told by the server that they just stop accepting dine ins. We were just a minute late when they closed it, no consideration was given. The server just turned his back and went on his way, no apologies or whatsoever. It was kind of disappointing.
Service is horrible. We ordered a big meal and they forget the main dish. They do not good customer service. They kept questioning me if my dish was there but it obviously was not. THE AUDACITY DO NOT GO HERE!
I was just picking up my order and still was not ready. Unless you have a lot of time I suggest you to go some other place.
For To who may concern: If you know is going to get busy hire one more cook please. People’s time is valuable.
I ordered their Pandit. It was so salty I couldn't eat it. It states that it has pork, chicken and shrimp. I found a couple pieces of dry chicken and 3 small shrimp. Never did find find any pork but, that's fine. The whole thing went into the trash. $3 for a medium Pepsi is ridiculous when half the cup was ice. Worst Philippine food I ever had. Never wasting my money there again.
