Max's Restaurant, Cuisine of the Philippines, Bakersfield reviews
19The pancit is very oily and the taste is overwhelmed by all the oil. My chicken had blood between the leg and thigh I sent it back they sent another piece that was fine but I could not eat it because all I could think about was the bloody piece that was initially put in front of me to eat. The fries were also extra oily, they were oil soaked flimsy and not crispy at all. The employees were running around like chickens with their necks cut off. My server never came back to my table to refill my water or bring my check. I would not recommend this place for Filipine cuisine. It left a very bad taste in my mouth and I prayed not to be sick after eating the little portion I tasted. I did bring home a bag for my dogs, they like chicken. We have much better Filipino food restaurants than this one in Bakersfield Ca.
Ordered online, confirmed with the cashier order was good and went through. Waited 80 minutes. Rude unapologetic supervisor explain they did not received the order and just go home on thanksgiving day empty handed! Stay away from this kind of business! N
Been eating here since I started working in Bakersfield. Today been waiting for 4 hrs for them to open however the lady manager won’t let me use their table the one with power outlet because they just cleaned. I just left I never come back! ! ’ So greedy,
Philippino restaurant favors for they fried chicken. I really liked their fried pork but we not as impressed by they chicken. Lots of space inside and can accommodate large groups. Staff is friendly
To start with, food tasted like any other chain. Decent and commercial. I ordered their fish fry, a pork dish and noodles. Fish was too salty for my taste, they should have sided it with rice or veg like how they have it In Philippines. The pork belly was blunt for me. Noodles was good, but nothing special. I would say it’s good for those who like those taste. But pricy for what you get though, but it’s understandable at these time. I wouldn’t go back.
Max’s satisfies my Filipino palette very well. I find the taste of their classic chicken and all other meals to be consistent with what they serve in the Philippines.
Together with the atmosphere and warm hospitality of their servers, Max’s is a great place to dine in if you miss home.
I took my friends to eat here for the first time and everyone enjoyed the food. Definitely recommend this place for great Filipino cuisine!
Me and my brother ordered Half Fried Chicken, Pancit. Lumpiang Sariwa and also tasted the Pork Barbeque. All tasted deliciously amazing! Besides the delicious food, the place has a good casual vibe, very nice decor and great ambiance. The service was superb as well.
Food and service was amazing! I highly recommend the garlic rice, bbq pork skewers and the fried chicken.
The service was good and the employees were great, but the food was terrible. It was flavorless and bland. Very disappointing to say the least.
Food flavor taste good in certain dishes. Rice should be included on their Ala Carte dishes. All dishes are overpriced. Their Sisig Bangus contains fish bones. It appears that they dice the fish containing the bones and fish tails and gills in it. It’s a CHOKING Hazard.
Went there for Friday date night. Chicken was awesome as advertised. Selections were so yummy. Service was outstanding; very prompt and always followed up. Hali halo was so tasty as a dessert treat. Philippine fast food at its finest.
Did a to-go order bought a whole chicken, pork skewers and a extra side of fries and got this. Everything was great except the amount of fries. Just upset I paid for extra fries and got this.
I had the opportunity to go to the ribbon cutting ceremony. The family and staff were very gracious. The food was fantastic. I grew up eating pork adobo. There adobo was fantastic. I will be back for lunch.
I had an excellent experience at Max's.
I'm starting this review by commending the staff for the excellent job keeping the place clean. Max's is the cleanest establishment I've dined at in the past few months. The restaurant was spotless and has a warm, welcoming vibe. My group and I were impressed.
We were seated right away and there was little to no wait for any food or service.
I ordered the garlic fried rice and the boneless marinated milkfish (Daing na Bangus), both were excellent. The rice was flavorful and plentiful; a large order is easily sufficient for 3-4 people. My leftover rice will make great garlic egg fried rice tomorrow.
The milkfish was so flavorful along with a pleasant texture and crispiness. The included vinegar on the side really adds to the dish also.
I also got to sample my friend's pork barbecue skewers and lechon kawali sisig; those were also great. On my next visit I'm going to try the beef caldereta.
What's a good dinner without dessert? I ordered the halo-halo, which is a typical favorite of mine. It did not disappoint. I was quite pleased with the flavor and the presentation.
Last but not least, the staff were friendly and attentive. Brian's recommendations helped determine my first order here.
With all that said, I will be returning. See you soon at Max's.:)
Our first time at Max's! A very pleasant surprise! The Nilagang Baka (soup) was outstanding! Seems a bit pricy, but everything is ala carte and served family style in large portions, so you don't need to order a lot.
Staff were friendly. Got there a little after 2 pm and there was no wait to be seated. Half the restaurant was empty. Got food fast and sisig was my favorite item and the barbecue skewers
Good food and people were excellent as expected but i would do something about the flies present.
Was not impressed with the food at all. We did not finish our food. The Filipino food trucks in Bakersfield serve better quality and tasting food than this restaurant. The service was poor and didn’t follow up with our table to refill water or even bring napkins. I do not recommend this place.
