My aunt and uncle have been a big part of this museum for a lot of years. My kids had a lot of fun visiting with their Nona on the kids' dad's side.

It's ok. A quiet 2 story museum with lots of regional artifacts if you're into that kind of museum

Nice little museum in Modesto that goes over regional history in the former town library. Free entrance, but donations accepted. Temp check and masks still required. Museum is two stories, and there's a small museum store. Make sure you go in time to see the McHenry Mansion across the street - oh, and the paperboy statue is super close, too.

Nice place to learn history of Modesto. Like the way the whole setup is. If you near the place recommended to visit.

The kiddos had a great time. They asked a lot of questions! They have a lot of interesting things. My favorite was the button collection and the set up of an old dine in restaurant!

I don't come here often. But when I do, I get lost in the bits of history I can learn here. People got to come here to McHenry Museum.

Very friendly. And how can you go wrong with cool displays of Modesto old time history. Music, war time, trains, old past on collectables and more.
The only problem is you can't really take it all in in one visit.

We went here a while ago. I would like to go back. It was really neat to visit. It is well maintained and beautiful. I also learned a lot of historical facts like that houses used to be built in certain directions for natural cooling.

This is a great free museum at Modesto! There are so many interesting things to see and learn about the city (Modesto) and Stanislaus County! There are two floors of exhibits!

The staff are very friendly and nice!

It is definitely worth its high rating! Highly recommend visiting here!

Note: The safety protocol (against Covid) is good! Self-served sign-in! Masks are required! Everyone’s temperature would be checked at the door with an automatic machine!

This museum is built inside the first library of Modesto. A great place to learn about the history of Modesto itself and the surrounding California Central Valley.

Definitely worth the hour and a half drive. The traffic on the way there, not a big fan. But the museum and what it encloses was well worth it.

We enjoyed our visit very much! Especially the exhibit of Dorothy Cover. She was a relative and I remember her when I was a little girl but I had no idea what a wonderful artist she was! I would like more information on some of the displays in the other parts of the museum.

Pretty interesting place it's a lot bigger than I expected. I went for a class assignment and end up really enjoying myself. There was was a lot of interesting things to look at and learn about. A few things I would change but overall a great experience.

Very interesting window into the history of the city of Modesto. They have lots of antiques and artifacts dating back to the early 1900's. Admission is free, though donations are appreciated.
