McLean Company, Palm Springs CA

Worst customer service I have ever encountered. I rented a property from them this year (2022) for 8 weeks. The individual people were nice enough. But, this management company does not communicate with guests or the property owners they represent.
On the day of check-in, I had no check-in information from them. They are closed on the weekends and I had to call their after hours line to get the information about how to get into the house I rented.
Additionally, twice now I have made a reservation for a 3 month stay next year (2023), that I made over the phone with them directly. After they cancelled the first reservation I foolishly reserved a different property. I had signed a contract and paid a 50% deposit both times. Their excuse for cancelling the contract was the property owner "changed their mind. " On the last one I have been waiting weeks for a refund only to find out they never processed the refund.
The company has changed it's name from McLean to Poppy but it's still the same company. I will never rent from them again.

We hired McLean to manager our short term rental property in Palm Springs. What a nightmare. Unprofessional, unorganized, disreputable, noncommunicative, shady.
The owner was 75 minutes late to our initial meeting. We indicated that we would not hire them because of this and told us about a nasty custody situation she was going through and she began to cry.
It was all down hill from there.
Emails went unanswered; workmen did not show up when scheduled; their cleaning crew left bags of garbage at our front door then we were charged to have that garbage taken away; a brand new shower head was removed without our permission, and we were charged for that labor; they installed a keyless entry door handle on our front door - we were charged twice for that and for repairing the damage done to the door by their handman who installed it; our funds were never deposited into our account as we had asked, instead we were sent checks (we set up a separate banking account to keep these funds separated and more easily tracked; I had to make 5 unscheduled trips to the property to repair things that they had messed up (I live out of state) ; the last two monthly statements were not sent to us because we had already indicated that we wanted to sever ties with them; they locked me out of our online portal right after we fired them even though we had pending reservations - on and on. They are absolutely the worst possible choice for property management.
The have recently rebranded to Poppy, likely due to how sullied their brand is.
Do Not hire these people. The only thing they seem to be adept at is taking your money.

McLean, now Poppy, was very helpful in getting us a pet friendly vacation rental in Palm Springs. We began with them five (5) years ago, and continue to return because of their good service.

We loved the condo at Ranch Club Estate #23. It was the best location in the complex. The patio was protected from sun and wind. It was exactly as pictured. We were found of the induction stove.couldn't get the hang of cooking on it. We liked the location. Would definitely rent it again.

What an amazing property located in a perfect tranquil location of Palm Desert. The communication was excellent from booking throughout our stay and checkout. Everything was thought of in the well appointed property and the heated pool and spa were so relaxing. Can't wait to book again!

The houses were well maintained and clean. The check in and check out processes were seamless. Appliances and electronic controls were new and easy to use. Would rent again.

Extremely pleased with the condo, it was very comfortable and spacious, I had both my sons and their wives spend a week with me and both couples enjoyed the complex, with it’s multitude of things to do.
Can’t wait to return next year.

We had a fantastic stay. MacLean was extremely responsive throughout the trip and the house was exactly as advertised. We will definitely come back for our next vacation!

The house was everything we hoped for & then some. Cleanliness, comfort & location were all better than expected. Would highly recommend for anyone visiting Palm Springs.

We had a wonderful weekend at the Polo Villas! Our house, #4, was beautifully appointed and well-stocked. We will definitely be back.

We rented Ocotillo Lodge unit 311 from February 1 to April 17 2022 from McLeans. When we picked up our keys to the unit, they told us the mail keys were in the unit. They weren’t and still haven’t been located a week later. The unit had 2 couches, which were filthy with yellow stains and spots. The shorter couch had no back cushions. The bathroom sink would not drain. The kitchen faucet leaks and the sink’s under cabinet was wet and moldy with water. The garage disposal smelled like mold. The unit was equipped with 1 teaspoon and 2 tablespoons, no chef knife, no pot holders, one tea towel, no wash cloths, no mops, 4 towels, 2 hand towels and had two broken chairs on the patio. The tv stand’s back side was not connected. The blinds do not work properly in the kitchen and living room. Do not rent this unit!

Great company to deal with when booking a rental property. Always available and responsive. I had a few questions and they were more than happy to assist. Good company!

We rented a vacation home through them in Palm Springs. The house was fabulous, with great instructions, and the McLean company was very responsive to a couple of phone requests we made about the pool and hot tub.

The home we rented was beautifully appointed with every amenity we could have ever needed! The McLean co was responsive, organized, and great to work with. Will definitely use them again.

My family of 10 inc 4 little ones enjoyed the beautiful pool, great room, big screen Tv and multiple bedrooms/ bathrooms.kitchen was really wonderful too!
Management team, mostly Natalya was very responsive and helpful throughout the process!

We stayed in Casa Lavender in Palm Desert. This was by far one of our best stays. The house is a hidden little gem with a private and beautiful courtyard into the front door of the house. Inside is a beautifully manicured house with a spacious kitchen with all you would need for a long stay if needed. All pots, dishes, dish wear and utensils included.
The back outside patio was a dream with a truly private nice pool and jacuzzi and plenty of seating. We can’t wait to come back.

Every employee was so helpful and easy to work with. They were all so accommodating to every one of our requests. They made us feel like they actually cared.
There were also so many little thoughtful details and amenities they added to the rental to make our stay more enjoyable and convenient. Checking in and checking out was also no hassle at all. Overall, I found my experience with them to be wonderful and by far superior to my past experiences with Airbnb.

In response to reply: I never received any email as promised by Kelly stating your company was not management, to confirm the owner was lying. The owner used your name on an insurance policy which fraud was committed on. Doesn't that concern you? Please send the letter stating the paper work Laue submitted as if you were his property managers and an additionally insured party for the home was false and fabricated by the owner. Still not sure why Kathy would have been scheming with Laue as how to evict me, when I was only in the house a couple weeks. He blatantly lied to Kathy saying I was making up the roof noises. I was not. The paper work also shows your company name in regard to an inspection that allegedly happened on Dec 23rd 2016 which was false as well. My emails and voice mails to Kelly were never responded to. I repeat I never received any letter from Kelly.

Highly dishonest and unethical company. One of their long term rental agents, Kathy was in cahoots with a landlord committing fraud on many levels.

She advised the landlord to buy an enhanced home owners insurance policy to cover lost rent up to 120,000. The landlord signed the contract and listed Mclean as an additionally insured party on the insurance policy, along with a fake inspection which never occurred. The landlord was scheming with Kathy on how to evict a tennant 15 days into a year lease. A lease which was paid in advance for several months along with security deposit. The reason the landlord was trying to come up with a plan to evict tenant was because landlord had fraudulently not disclosed a severe defect in the home which landlord couldn't afford to fix.

When tenant wanted refund to move out landlord didn't have the money because he used 19,000 tenant had paid on a new condo he could not afford.

So rather than be honest and admit he lied and did not disclose a problem he himself couldn't stand even being in the house, landlord instead went on a pathological lying campaign to say tenant was making it up.

MCLean's name shows on the signed property management contract. Mclean also shows on the landlords home insurance policy.

The landlord committed insurance fraud to get as much money as possible.

Kelly McLean the owner told me they never ended up really being the property managers. She promised me a written statement to confirm what she told me. However, she didn't and would not write the statement she promised despite me asking several times.

I have no idea if Mclean was the property managers or not. I believed Kelly when she told me they were not.

The fact she would not put it in writing nor call me back showed her true colors. Kelly McLean did not care about the truth and doing anything to support her statement saying they were not the property managers.

What is one to think but they were complicit in aiding and abetting a fraud with insurance fraud and the willful damage to a tenant who just wanted the problem fixed or full refund to move out. That makes Kelly, Kathy and MCLEAN slime that care about nothing other than profit. Screw the human being tenant severely damaged by their willful complicity. Based on 99 % of reviews on here so many others reveal the ugly true colors of this sham.

This home has the potential to be a charming Palm Springs getaway, It is spacious and could be great for a couple to get away. Its private and nearby to all the shopping districts. However the home is very out of date and not in the retro Palm Spring way. From the moment we arrived the home smelled old and not very clean. The master bed had hair in it and obviously had not been changed between visits. The counters were full of dust, dishes were filthy and the showers had someone else's hair in them as well as used, open shower products. The carpet was old and dingy. The pool was supposed to be heated per the agreement however it was freezing cold. The cabinets were bare not like rentals that make you feel at home. A cleaning crew had to be sent over in the middle of our visit to clean the interior of the home. There was no owner's/rental manual to explain features of the home. The exterior was loaded with dirt and not the type that comes from wind blowing overnight but rather from lack of cleaning. Oh and when a thorough cleaning was done someone's bra was in the couch. We were offered another night at a discounted rate but this property was so disappointing that there was no way we would consider it. Not sure if the problem lies with the owner or the management company but we expected better. This was an embarrassment and dampened our anniversary weekend getaway.
