Meadowood Apartments, Simi Valley CA

Literally the worst experience I’ve ever had in a rental. Not mentioning multiple additional acts of craziness, I just checked my mailbox and it had a notice to the mail carrier “ATTENTION MAIL CARRIER THIS ADDRESS IS CURRENTLY VACANT. DO NOT PLACE MAIL IN THIS BOX. VACANT”
Aside from not getting my normal mail, I was expecting my passport today or tomorrow! I will be seeking legal action!

The lack of attentive management leaves something to be desired. Our proof of insurance was never adequate from move in day. However management never communicated it to us, just continued to charge a 20$ fee every month. We spent months trying to find out why we were being charged. And even after being told our insurance was compliant by a community rep. We were still charged a fee every month, and still haven’t been issued a refund. Do not rent from an Essex property. They are very non-responsive and don’t care about the property. Not to mention the issues we’ve had with maintenance…. We regret moving here and wouldn’t recommend it to others.

If I could give zero stars I would. They have visited my husband and I because my husband has PTSD and we were always complaining about someone who was harassing us. They gave us three days to get our stuff and get out the lady that was harassing us only got a slap on the wrist and was told to leave us alone. Here is a small list of things. This lady did yelled at me when I did nothing to her. She also put dog poop on our bedroom window. Through a rock, and my significant other, when he went over to confront her for spitting at me she also harasses other residents. This apartment complex also hates the fact that they have a mold issue and they have a huge bug iusee was well. They blame everything on the tenants lock the tenants out before they’re done moving out and try to charge you rent. When you don’t even live there anymore the apartment manager, much rather see people who are on drugs live there when there are children who need to be kept safe. He does not care if you complain about being harassed or anything else he will refuse to do anything about it he will blame you for it when it is not your fault. A good example of the property management not caring is when my mom and dad moved out, they got charged for a washer at the apartment did not fix and it ended up breaking in putting their entire apartment. Another good example is them trying to charge my significant other and I rent one. We don’t even live there anymore. I have not lived there in at least two months. I do not care how desperate you are try to find something a little better even if it’s out of your price range, you do not want to live in these dusty old dilapidated, falling apart apartments for the management company that does not care in and will lock you while before you are done moving out.

I want to express my gratitude towards Shawn & Jessica at Meadowood’s leasing office who made our move-in process as easy as possible. Jessica & Shawn communicated with me throughout every step of the process in a timely manner. Furthermore, we didn’t see the unit we leased literally ‘till move-in day and I must admit it superseded our expectations. I have also met Vicky the (porter) around the complex who has been very welcoming. Thanks again…Shawn, Jessica & Vicky!

My experience at Meadowoods for the past six years has been mostly positive, communication was a little slow, but seems to be better now.
Sean and Marco have treated me with respect and professionalism.
They try to respond quickly to all questions and problems.

Marcos the maintenance guy is always helpful and professional.any issues we have with our apartment he helps out in a timely manner.

Comforting knowing that things were going to be ok. I have great memories living there.
