MedDerm Dermatology, San Diego CA

I've gone to Dr Lee for a few years now. He's the most thorough dermatologist I've seen. I trust his work, and he's a super nice guy. I go about twice a year. When my insurance changed I made sure he was part of my new insurance program instead of picking a new Dr.

We were seen promptly by the doctor which is very unusual these days. In and out in 35 minutes. Wow! They do, however, text you a few too many times

I forgot to write this review awhile ago - but almost 2 years ago I came here for a mole on my leg. The doctor didn’t even do a biopsy he did a sticker thing where he scraped off some skin cells and sent it to a lab which would say worrisome or not worrisome - he also never mentioned it cost $700. He then called me and was like yeah it came back not so great nothing terrible but should get it removed and then referred me to a cosmetic surgeon who was going to be completely out of pocket - I called them and they were confused why I was even calling them to get the spot removed because they don’t do cancer tests just cosmetic mole removal. I just said screw it and went to scripps - they did a biopsy and weren’t even sure why a dermatologist would just do a skin scrape and turned out it was melanoma - so much for “not being that bad”. They immediately referred me to a surgeon who does moh’s surgery specifically for skin cancer. Anyways these people are not a great place to go for worrisome skin spots. Maybe to get Botox or a cream for a zit.

I have been seeing Dr. Pelle for several years and appreciate that she is an open-minded physician. We always have interesting discussions on health and she appreciates my research and opinions as much as I do hers. The staff is always courteous, timely, and professional.

The only comment about going to MedDerm is that there's nothing that needs be done to make it any better.

I’ve been going to this dermatology practice for several years now. Although it’s a bit challenging to get an appointment with my initial provider because she is so popular, there are alternatives, and a recent addition to the practice seen at my recent appointment, Dr. Moore, seems great. She is friendly and personable, seems very knowledgeable, and she is very efficient.
This office is pleasant in general, and rarely has a wait time to be seen once you arrive. High recommendation!

Expert staff, prompt service, results very effective for me. Dr. Pele very attentive to patients, a clinician Denise very thorough in treatment. I had the PDT treatment.

I cannot recommend MedDerm Dermatology enough. I see Dr. Lee and Jay Blake and both are excellent professionals. I’ve been using this dermatologist office for about four years now and every experience is a positive one with them. I’ve had issues with my insurance covering a prescription and I am able to call the office and speak to a live person that cares and is willing to help. Love this office and all its staff. Dr Michael A Lee is professional, thorough, efficient and personable. Dr Lee is informative and receptive to follow-up questions; as well as sensitive to a patient's concerns on diagnosis.

Easy access to the parking structure from 6th Ave after leaving 163S. Easy access to the office from the elevator on P2. Very efficient.

They were able to get me in quick and handled my issue with professionalism and care. Dr. Sarah Moore is the best!

Dr. Patrick Blake is one of the best doctors I have ever come across. He is scary smart, unbelievably well educated and just a really great doctor. And on top of that, he is one of the most pleasant and thorough dermatologists I have ever met.

Quickest, most thorough check-up I’ve ever had. Efficiency is definitely a/the top priority for them, which might not be for everyone but I appreciated it.

SO happy to have found MedDerm! I had a visit with Dr. Moore and it was the best experience I've had.let me tell you, I've been to plenty dermatology places. She was very welcoming, non-judgmental, and super knowledgable. She listened intently to my history of acne and actually took the time to understand my frustrations with previous treatments. Every question I had, which was a lot, she answered in a way that I would understand but also gave informational explanations. The staff was incredibly friendly from checking in to the end of my appointment. Highly recommend MedDerm to anyone looking for a welcoming and knowledgable dermatology.

I will definitely go back HOWEVER, the only thing I would say as a black person going into a clinic getting skin care from is that it’s different for everyone. I saw Dr Judy Doong that day I went there asking for something specific and was given a bar of soap for treatment as if I didn’t have the money to pay for the treatment which offended me. I had to ask Dr. Doong, for the treatment which cost me 150 and I didn’t hesitate to pay for it. Mind you I had more money to pay for the procedure I just didn’t want her working on my face any longer than what I needed her to as I felt insulted by the experience and wanted to get out.

I spent 140 in there for the consultation with the doctor however she could have done better with giving me all the treatment options. You know what she gives me? A bar of soap. I tell Dr. Doong, what treatment I was given in the past with other doctors. Dr. Doong gives me a bar of soap and wants to be on her merry way rushed. I was polite about it. Maybe if your of color go with another doctor b/c she will be dismissive and give you a bar of soap. She didn’t seem to care.

She could have done better with her customer service skills. She wasn’t rude. Either way I got what I wanted because I asked for not because she offered it but next time I won’t be asking for her again. I will say that the nurse that was present was very pleasant and respectful and a witness to everything.

I was very happy with my experience here. Dr. Lee was great. Answered all my questions, was very thorough with my skin check, and I was extremely pleased that he uses the handheld scope to look at moles. A lot of dermatologist do not use those and they really reduce the amount of biopsies needed! I would highly recommend! Thank you!
