Mesa Rim Climbing Center (Mission Valley) reviews
11I visited this location as a guest from Chicago with 1.5+ years of bouldering experience. I was excited to try Mesa Rim but left quite underwhelmed and disappointed. The bouldering holds were worn out and slippery, the bouldering space (and the entire gym for that matter) was very cramped, and the bouldering rating system was not defined anywhere (I didn’t see any explanation posted in the gym nor was it explained on the website). The $30 single day pass does not seem worth the price.
The gym is ok, but if you are a beginner trying bouldering for the first time I don't recommend going there, I took a friend and there's just one true v0 that they could climb
Mesa Rim in Mission Valley has been my home gym for a few years now, and it's been so cool to see it grow and change!
The community here is top notch? And you'll find someone to help you in every area of fitness expertise related to climbing.
Honestly, the quality and variety of yoga alone is worth the membership!
Whether you're a beginner or working on leading that 5.13 project in the prow, go climb Mesa!
First timer? Beginner? You're not welcome here.
Came here with 3 of my other friends on a Sunday. All 4 of us walked out after 15 minutes. We were not asked anything about whether we know how to belay. We asked for a quick belaying lesson for the group of 4 people after I paid in full and we were told that "belaying classes are scheduled in advanced and there are no more belaying lesson for the day. " We had no way to get signed off for belaying and they would not offer any belaying lesson even after we paid for the day pass. We were not allowed to go to the belaying area and basically were limited to bouldering area only. Then we asked for chalk and were told that chalk was for sale only. Staff was not accommodating and was not upfront when you pay for the service. Their business model only serves their existing clients basically.
Every customer deserves an explanation on how things work before they pay for the service.
We went to VERTICAL HOLD on Hancock street instead. They accommodated us on the same day with 5 star VIP service.
Love this place! Great routes, amenities, and classes for a reasonable price. Considering F45 and other studios are $150+ a month, this has a lot better value and a great community to boot!
The climbs are good and all staff are nice. The only reason I won’t give it 5 stars is that is probably the dirtiest gym I’ve been to in California.
Good: Roped walls are tall and they have a huge overhang section.
Bad: Setting and cracks aren't as good as the Mira Mesa and San Marcos locations. Many of the rope routes do not have draws for leading. Also more crowded than the other locations.
Seems like an amazing place. I didn't go in but from what I saw and heard about, anyone who likes climbing theline this place
World class gym, great enthusiastic staff, and fun routes. They're doing a great job following the ever changing COVID rules here in SD.
This place is my second home! Clean, friendly, and some of the best set routes. Always a good time!
I came to LA Boulders the other day for a double-date and it was so much fun! I must say, I was a little worried at first since I'm not too big on rock climbing walls and I didn't know if I would have the upper body strength to climb the wall but it really wasn't that bad!
