Mezzaluna Pasteria & Mozzarella Bar reviews
19The best Italian food in the area. The pasta was fresh and tasty. The meal itself didn't taste overly seasoned or heavy. The service was friendly and attentive. Definitely a place worthy of repeat business.
My significant other and I spent 2 weeks traversing California from San Fran down to Big Sur. We are out every night at different restaurants during our trip. Our favorite meal of the entire trip was at this restaurant! Highly recommended. Great food and great service. Thank you!
Delicious! Our plans had us doing takeaway, and the bartender kindly poured us a glass of wine and brought some housemade focaccia and tapenade while we waited a short time. The handmade pastas and burrata were lovely. The dried local tomatoes were very memorable! We’ll be back!
Mezzuna was a last minute decision and a very good one. We sat at the bar which turned out to be such a bonus as we made conversation with Alex as he made the most amazing cocktails. The place was busy and had a fun atmosphere. The service was impeccable and the food was devine. Freshly made pasta paired with creative flavors made an unforgettable night. Would recommended 100%
We went there for dinner on a Monday and it had a lot people already and it was barely 5pm, so I recommend making reservations for this place, there’s plenty of parking. They have a separate menu that’s completely vegan, I order the rosemary Paloma which is alcohol free, was so good and the presentation was very cute for pictures, for the food I ordered Fettuccine ai Funghi and for dessert I had the 3 scoops of their sorbetto (guava, Meyer lemon and mixed berry) loved this place can’t wait to come back!
Normally don't post reviews, but was inspired by a contrasting experience with "The Grill at Point Pinos".
Mezzaluna rocks.
I'm an avid home cook, and my profession is all about aesthetics.
I am SO impressed by the "attentiveness" and judgment of whoever runs Mezzaluna. From the Focaccia and Tapenade, through the aperitifs, appetizers, salads, house cocktails, entrees, desserts, digestifs... EVERYTHING is so well-balanced... So "considered".
VERY creative and thoughtful menu, not just entrees but cocktails, appetizers, too.
Long-term (from what I can see? 2+ years) well-trained, well-informed staff, very attentive to details.
Yes, most of it is "just pasta"... But I'm SO impressed by the very apparent "care" and evident pride with which these people run their business. I hope they have a decades-long and financially-lucrative run-they deserve it. They are putting aesthetics first. It's always a joy to dine there.
Do not pass up the chance to enjoy one of the best Old Fashions this side of the Mississippi. Really good food, great service, outstanding cocktails.
Fantastic meal and outstanding service. Love this place. Housemade carbonara with their own cured pancetta and fresh pasta, topped with French black truffles. Need I say more?
I had a medical emergency here and the staff was very helpful. Especially the manager Adrian.
Very nice menu with a variety of selections. 4 of us dined and everything we got was top notch. Drinks included
Excellent pasta and service. We were so happy to find they have delicious gluten free options too! Excellent gluten free pasta that matched the quality of the regular pasta plus gluten free bread for the table.
Great local restaurant with house made mozzarella, pasta, gnocchi and gelato. The dishes are prepared simply to highlight the quality of the house made products (which are for sale in the attached store). And the food was quite nice. The house made pasta wasn't heavy, which a lot of fresh pastas can be. The gnocchi were heavenly (though I wasn't a huge fan of the sage brown butter - that was a little bland to my taste). The mozzarellas were all nice and reminded me of the cheeses my Italian father used to make.
The absolute highlight of the meal was the impeccable service. Every member of the serving team worked together to deliver a seamless dining experience. Very impressive.
Parking on site. Outdoor dining available, but it's not a scenic site, so I wouldn't want to sit outside.
The food was top notch and the wait staff was so nice and welcoming. It would have been ideal if there could have been a planter between the tables and the street but the heaters outside worked really well and kept us warm. We opted for aperitivi and antipasti to share. Then we each ordered a pasta dish. My pappardelle con ragù di maiale was excellent. The dungeness crab ravioli had just the right amount of lemon tang. The spaghetti nero con le vongole reminded me of Venezia.
We brought our dog because we read outdoor patio with heaters.
Literally, one foot from a busy road. We did not stay.
NOT DOG FRIENDLY OR PATIO FRIENDLY!
Always a great experience. The servers are professional and responsive. The pasta is consistent and their special’s always dynamite. Save room for the tiramisu in a jar!
This is the best restaurant in Pacific Grove.
The drink prices are reasonable, the Italian entrees superb, and the desserts, particularly the gelato, will cause you to gesticulate with your arms and then kiss your fingers like a Paisano! As a local, this is our “go-to” restaurant. Get a reservation a few days in advance for a weekend night.
Interesting cocktails.
Service is impeccable.
Rabbit dinner tasted like reduced chicken soup.
Not a good place for us visitors - clearly good for locals! We were visiting with our son and made a dinner reservation for 7: 00. We arrived on time, and saw numerous parties come in after us that apparently knew the staff well and who were seated ahead of us. We were not seated until close to 7: 45, despite being told we would be seated in “15-20 minutes”. At one point, we were told “you’re next for that table over there” only to see a party come in after us, hug the host, and be seated at the table the host promised us!
Once seated at yet a different table, the service was prompt and the food was good. Decent wine list. In fairness, this was a couple nights before the Big Sur Marathon, so crowds everywhere were heavy, but our experience would have been better if the seating fiasco had been fairly managed without the favoritism.
Had a wonderful dining experience at Mezzaluna! The staff was super responsive, there when needed, and the timing was spot on. The food was delicious. From the Gnocchi to the salad to the braised rib ravioli! The Fugitaboutit was memorable and the espresso martini was a great way to end the night. While it can be a tad bit loud, overall a top spot.
