12 Well sign-posted off the 118 Fwy but then you find yourself with 'private road' and 'access to residents only' signs, but keep on going until you get to the official parking areas (there are two: 15954 Browns Canyon Rd Parking & 15984 Browns Canyon Rd Parking. It's pay parking, $5 and you need the exact money to put in the envelope).
Be sure to bring a map with you; your cell phone's GPS is helpful but won't provide as much information as a map.
Beautiful scenery, especially after winter rains, but some paths have a ditch in them from water erosion making it tricky to hike.
I was able to go here as a kid back in 1967, had a invitation as part of a group, and a Major Evans who was one of the people in charge of two sites in the mountains above the San Fernando Valley gave us the chance to see what was going on here, Had good memories, sad to see the vandalism.
Love this spot have been coming for years. This use to be a awesome to go explore until mass amount of disrespect people started leaving trash, beer bottles, and condoms everywhere. People suck.
This is a great park to go to and my family actually rents a piece of land there where we have cattle. But it is great because of the view and fresh air.
Not much to do. Dangerous cattle and ticks. They need to open the gate and charge a $15 use fee.
Best time to hike these trails is in spring after it rains when the grass is green and moist, the air is foggy and fresh, and the path ascends nearly two thousand feet past old abandoned missile silos and wild life rarely seen at once in the LA area.deer, wild horses, longhorn sheep, snakes, bobcats.leading to spectacular mountain peaks overlooking the entire San Fernando Valley all the way to the ocean!
Parking at the trailhead requires a MRCA $5 fee. This road is paved the whole way to the gate on private property. Kind of bucolic with cows and steers with the wide open vistas and beautiful oak trees it is worth a trip on a clear day
Nice hiking trails but definitely a lot of foot traffic and illegal dirt bikes. Modelo and budweiser bottles all over, so I think alot of people must go there to party. Very sad!
I would give 5 but the 5 dollar payment fee is not goot. I got a ticket but other than that its
Great
Really nice hike trails during Spring especially if you get there to watch the sunset or sunrise.
A great area to go running in the hills. This open space has views all across the Valley and out to the Santa Monica Mountains. This area is very rural and quite private as there are many trails/roads to go hiking on. Come out and enjoy a day in the country while still being in the city!
