I have seen/read a number of reviews and wanted to rate/share my experience.
Price had me skeptical - but all car rental recently has been awful - so I rolled the dice.
Midway may be my new go to LA car rental company.
First, I liked I could walk there after my flight. It was a 20 minute walk from Termial 5 with a backpack and carry on Suitcase - truly just up century Blvd.
I like to walk, especially after a long flight and before traffic. I also felt more at ease with the walking directions than trying to figure out multiple busses (honestly-that would have been quick, too - saw the shuttles and stops during my walk to rental agency).
Arrived (it's office is next to hotel lobby. No line, I quickly got a coffee from Coffee Bean, Tea Leaf and waited less than 2 minutes to be helped.) DeeJay helped me get in my Camry (exactly what I booked) quickly. He explained extras I could opt for or decline. Explained things throughly. Very courteous and friendly.
From LAX - restroom break, the walk, coffee stop, check-in and drive away was less than 50 minutes from landing and deplaning.
My Camry had less than 10k on it and was a fine ride and good gas mileage. Photo inspected the car with attendant and went on my way. Returned car "after hours" which is always a gamble dropping the keys - but, with no other options and a flight to catch, I took photos, dropped keys and left. Before I had boarded my plane I had a recipet for the exact, agreed rental price, credit card hold was gone within 8 hours.
Both interactions were before 10am on a weekday for reference.
Although shuttle available, I chose to walk to airport in 20 minutes on way out, too.
Will surely recommend and use Midway again.

Trust the reviews and don’t rent a car here, you’ll be stranded in LA and waste 4 hours trying to find a rental car.

I booked a week in advance showed up and they said sorry “not sorry” we have no cars.

I had a great experience renting from Midway this past week. I had read a lot of reviews before renting from them, and the major complaint i read was about the long wait to pick up the car (which was true for sure so be prepared for that). But the staff that i dealt with were all friendly & helpful. The car i got (Toyota RAV4) was in great shape, ran well, & had no issues with it. The price for my rental was way below some of the other major competitors. So for the price & quality, even though there is a long wait to get the car, i would totally recommend this company & will definitely use again next time I’m in LA.

Midway Car Rental is a scam. The company takes reservations but doesn't have cars when you arrive. The reservation was at noon, and three hours later, the staff said it would be a couple of more hours. I'm pretty chill, so okay waiting, but I came to town for a business meeting at 5. I was fortunate enough to have an amazing person give me a ride. There were dozens of people still waiting. Try not to yell at the counter folks if you use this company; it's not their fault. But also, don't book with Midway.

Their shuttle at LAX doesn't pick you up where other major rental place does. You need to take the local bus to a remote parking lot where their minibus gets you. Then you lineup for 1.5 hours to sign the agreement. Then lineup again to wait for an attendant to fetch and wash the car. The car is nice and new in good shape but the process is too long. Would've helped if they had clear instructions on their website or contract. U-Save and ACE rentals do the same thing.

I was a little harsh in my initial review because I didn't do my research into how their shuttle procedure worked. I gave Midway 2 more stars. I was tired from flying and I had no data and inormation at the time. It's still a clumsy way to get there especially when the bus is usually full. The return process was a lot easier.

Midway did upgrade me a full size to an Avalon and it was a great deal. I will rent from them again now that I know how they work. Just get the lineup moving faster and more customers will return.

Has to take 2 shuttles (one of them public and super full) to get to the rental place. Waited over an hour in line - no apology. Lots of workers moving around and only 2 people checking cars out. Then after all had to wait for a car to be washed. Everyone moves slow and no apology for an extra long wait. Plus I had to answer many questions other rental car companies don’t ask (invasive)

Don't come here!
They will have u pay ur reservations for 11am
N wen u get here they eill tell u to sign in to a paper sheet n they will call u wen a car is here cuz there is no cars lol n he sed ill be one or two hours wait lol n now I have no car so can't go somewhere else smh n now am waiting like everyone else on a Friday smh
Soooo to these people reservation it means something else smh.

I had originally left a lower review due to a wait time incurred when we arrived at the facility. Midway's representative called at a later date after the reservation to address and discuss the wait that we experienced. Customer service after the trip was top notch.

The car that we received was clean and drove nicely. The drop off process was quick and we were able to board a shuttle shortly thereafter for departure dropoff.

The worst rental company ever. They don't warn that you can drive only in California and Nevada. That's why I returned a car same day. They charged me 3 times. Once from my debit card and twice from my credit card.

45 minutes in the line and there were still 12 people in front of us. How inefficient can you be? We decided to leave and take an uber to our appointment.

Also, be mindful to get to the rental place you need to go through two shuttles.

Don't you love it when a company is so oblivious of their service that they ask for reviews after delivering literally the worst experience you've ever had? I spent (no kidding) 1.5 hours in line waiting to get to the service desk. Once I got to the desk, my credit card was declined (my fault) and they don't accept debit cards, so I had to call my credit card company to increase my credit limit. After I went through all that they told me that they didn't have any suburbans and asked if a minivan was OK! The only reason I reserved at Midway (which I'd never heard of) is because Hertz (with whom my company has a contract) did not offer full-size suburbans. I was there for a multi-week business trip in the desert and needed high clearance and storage space. A minivan wouldn't cut it. I told them need to find a suburban. They did, finally, bring a suburban from a different location.it was on empty and dirty but I told them not to waste any more of my time cleaning it. All told, it was 2.5 hours before I drove away. I will avoid this company like the plague.

If I could give this place a half star I would. The manager was terrible and not understanding of only having one credit card. The only saving grace that did not have me flip ape were the workers behind the desk being funny, and trying to work with me. Would not recommend this place to anyone. Completely wasted a day of my vacation just waiting on b the rental to get told no at the end of everything. The worst experience I’ve ever had and max a terrible start to my vacation.

Our experience, for the most part, was great! However, Midway does not accept credit cards with any type of store name, even if it is a Visa or Master Card, so unfortunately we only had a Home Depot Visa card and Cabellas Mastercard. We ended up having to use our work credit card to get the car, but then we were able to use our bank card upon return. We would have been screwed without our company card. The wait was about an hour on a Sunday afternoon at 3pm. The lady in line behind me said, she tried to get a car in the morning and the wait was going to be over 4 hours, so she left. Return was easy and the shuttle waited to take us to the airport.

I had a terrible experience here. After waiting for over an hour in line, the clerk at the desk was very rude to me when my background check did not go through as expected. I am 100% certain that they simply input my phone number and/or address incorrectly into their system. I have had no issues with other background checks at other car rental services. It was obvious that they just wanted me out of line so that they could help other people and get through the line. They refused to put it through again. They completely stonewalled me and refused to continue serving me as soon as the process wasn’t easy. I highly recommend choosing a more reputable service in the area, such as Avis or Enterprise. Their refusal to even try to help me was shocking. I hate to leave bad reviews but I really just want to accurately reflect my experience at Midway LAX. Edit- I had also PAID for a reservation already through a third party. It was non-refundable. Sad that Midway expects their customers to practice patience when renting a car, but their clerks are incapable of patience. Waste of my time and money, and with a tight schedule I wasted even more money using Lyft and Uber to get around the entire weekend. What a disappointment.

Reserved a car for 3pm, arrived at 3: 20 and was told they will not have a car for me until close to 5pm. Employees were nice but this place is poorly managed.

There is not a single sign at the airport to tell you where to go. Every other rental company has one. Midway does not educate airport personnel on where to tell people to get a shuttle. I asked 3 different people and got 3 different answers. You have to take a metro local bus to take you to another lot, get off, then board another shuttle to get to Midway. This process took over 40 minutes. We get to Middway finally and we are 1 of 20+ people waiting on line to check-in for our car reservation. This is a complete joke and we will NEVER rent from this company again. Stay tuned but most likely will be an hour and a half process to get a rental.

Our experience was pretty awful. Reserved a small car, stood in line for 70 plus minutes hearing the agents who were working tirelessly - no breaks allowed, clearly - run through the auto insurance options and then deliver the sad news that few if any reserved cars were actually available. Seems like either the hope was to stall, or at least make more money on selling the insurance. We will not be returning.

People complain about the shuttles to get there, take a shuttle to the taxi rank and then walk a block or a block and a half use your maps it's really easy.
Everything went smooth.
Come on people you're in a giant airport, in a massive city.
Everything's not going to be all compact and neat and close but it took 10 minutes from leaving the departure gate to get on the shuttle get off the shuttle and walk the two blocks was another 10 minutes.
Cars cost hundreds cheaper than any of the competition and the cars are fine.
Staff was super helpful
