Listen up people! The Mikado Hotel isn't the Four Seasons, so if you're expecting luxury, forget it. The rooms are somewhat dated but they're clean and comfortable, and they smell good, unless someone smoked in it, but if that happens just tell them and they'll let you change rooms. There is no room service, but there is a restaurant on property with pretty good sushi and a variety of other food choices (you can even get spam sushi lol). They have a nice patio with outside seating, so overall the restaurant's atmosphere is very welcoming, the service is good, and I felt very comfortable and relaxed while I was there. The prices are reasonable and the portions are satisfying. Just be aware that you can't charge to your room. The last time I ate there they gave me a discount because I was a hotel guest, which was very nice! Hotel parking is $5 per day, and for L. A.that's cheap, the most important thing is that it's safe to park there.so far I haven't had any issues. The other hotel guests mind their own business, and I've never had any problems with anyone. It has always been quiet every time I have stayed. It's funny, even though it's near a busy freeway, I wasn't able to hear the sound of traffic in my room and it never bothered me. Overall, it's peaceful and quiet, which is something that I really enjoy. There is a choice of bed size and quantity, but the king rooms are the ones with the balconies, which is what I always book. The sheets are white, crisp and clean and they always smell good. The pillows are plentiful but lumpy, and the beds aren't as comfortable as the Marriott, but when I'm not being picky they're just fine. I had a very restful night's sleep during my last stay, which is the most important thing.so just bring your own pillow if you don't like lumpy pillows. The towels are white, clean and fluffy, and way better quality than a lot of the more expensive hotels I've stayed at, which I love a lot. The bath tubs are too small to take a nice long luxurious bubble bath, they're too shallow for my preference, but at least the rooms have a tub and not just a shower. Even so, I enjoyed a hot bath the last time I stayed and was happy with the bath amenities as well. Every room has a Keurig coffee maker, microwave and a fridge, and there's a grocery store down the street to stock up for your stay. No minibar either, but there are a couple of liquor stores nearby, so not a big deal. The rooms have central air conditioning, but the room temp stays well above 70 in the hot summer months, so if you want a cold room in August or September you might want to stay somewhere else, or go for a dip in the pool, which closes too early in my opinion (normally around 9 pm I believe). In the summer the water is nice and warm, and the deep end is 9 feet, which is amazing and you can actually dive in, and do some really good cannonballs! The large jacuzzi was wonderful and usually empty, so I had the whole thing to myself on several occasions! Overall I recommend this hotel for the reasonable prices, comfort, amenities, and location. The bottom line is If you're really super picky and you want luxury and 5 star accommodations, you should stay somewhere else. If you do stay there and want to complain about everything, my advice is to just forget it and go live your life. Cheers!

I would not recommend staying here. They are short staffed, which is a bummer. This means a number of things don’t get done. Our AC was not turned on and was over 82 degrees in the room. Front desk was efficient, but the only person working. We could not stay here, it was too hot in the room.

The only reason getting a 5 for location is because we went to universal studios and it was about 10 min away if you are looking for a cheap place to stay and not worried about like this is not it not that cheap for price but the look is definitely cheap room was ok clean walls looked like had damage and they just threw some wall paper over it tub had chips all over it

This hotel is far from fabulous. Our accommodations were ok but nothing spectacular. The room was clean but could be updated. The pool was clean and enjoyable. That was about the only good thing to say regarding our experience. Just an FYI, there is no manager on duty. If you have an issue, you are told that the manager works remotely. There is no way to get in touch with anyone other than sending an email that does not get any response back. The lobby and the pool area are clean, but the grounds area is in serious need of maintenance. There once was a beautiful pond, bridge, and grounds area. The bridge is closed off, the pond is really disgusting, and there are dry withering plants. The pictures online are old and deceiving. We fortunately stayed on the poolside, so we did not need to see that. The gate to the pool was broken, so we were told that we needed to put our hand over the top and pull the latch from the inside to get in. The front desk staff was as accommodating as they could be. However, it was clearly evident that the management does not respect the staff. It seemed as if they are so scared to do anything that is out of the realm that would please customers and make their experience better because it would be deviating from the procedures and would put their job at risk. I would not recommend staying here if at all possible. Just the lack of customer service and disregard from management to handle any concerns is a reason not to stay here. You are better off paying a little more money to stay at a place that has better ambiance and customer service skills. Such a major disappointment, especially in a city like Los Angeles.

Location was great and no issue like other hotels close to Universal. The room was a little dated, but over all happy with it!
The tiki bar/restaurant is amazing!

The worst hotel, or even the worst motel we have ever had. To begin with, we do not overlook the street and we hear the road as if we were on the edge of the street.

The smell in the room is unpleasant as can be!
Old and gloomy room.
Dirty carpet
Pillow uncomfortable, full of dumplings.
Enamel of the bathtub that leaves, walls full of blisters.shiny air conditioning and fridge
No more hiding in front of the bathroom ventilation.

Conclusion: I do not recommend this hotel.

Less than 10min from Warner Bros and Universal.
Very friendly reception person.

Parking at $5 per night.

To know: be careful they take the deposit so beware of the costs. And told me to return it to check out, we'll see at that time.

Great location for NoHo, but the property and rooms need major renovation. In my 3 night stay, I was not able to take a hot shower. Beds and pillows were below average. The front desk team was very friendly.

Hotel's location is good.
Plenty of parking. No hidden charges.
They have this Grab and Go snacks and beverage free for guests.

Room is clean. TV, AC, and heater are all working fine.
Room has few insects that appeared in our 5 nights stay there.

This is my 2nd time staying at this hotel when I’ve visited from my hometown in TX and let me just say the staff have made it such a great experience both times! Every other year when I’ve tried to book, it’s been fully booked so this time around I made sure to book ahead of time and I’m so glad I did! Universal Sdios and the Hollywood Walk of Fame is just down the street (a few mins down). I have a 10 year old and he prefers to be at the motel rather than being out. And the very first time we stayed here my son was 5 and he LOVED this hotel, so I knew then I had to make sure I kept a business card in my wallet and I’ve had it since. Another thing I wanted to add on was that we were going to eat our dinner one night and realized we didn’t have silverware. So we called the front desk to see if they had any extras and the lady at the receptionist that answered offered to give us hers. I knew then that this hotel really cared about their clients. 10/10, I definitely recommend!

The room is completely outdated. Carpet coming up and old, tile in the shower has gaps and hot water wasn’t a thing…. More lukewarm than anything else. I will say the gent working the swing shift was awesome but sadly this was not enough for me to get another room there…. Plus, why am I being charged an extra $5 a person ON TOP of the room rate? Nickel and dime you big time. Nope. NEVER again.

We had a good stay, close to Universal Studio, 10 minutes by car, and there is public transport a few meters from the hotel, the room has a refrigerator, microwave, excellent coffee maker and LCD, air conditioning, desk, several chairs, Every day they adjust the room. The pool is very cold but the jacuzzi is hot. The breakfast snack they give is good, they lack variety but to be added value it's fine, the reception staff are very friendly, the Latina girl and the Americans.

I overbooked this hotel through a travel site.
It was my mistake first, so I canceled one booking through the site and called to the hotel right away.
I tried to ask about the handling of the refund. But one guy said adamantly that we had absolutely no authority
to deal with it and you should tell about this only to the travel site to deal with it all.
However, the answer from the travel site said that the refund was not possible because the hotel denied to refund.
In the end, I paid twice and used it for a day.

If you make a reservation through a travel site, neither the travel agency nor the hotel seems to care and take responsibility.
However, they all posted their hotel reservations on travel sites.
Consumption has become easier, but service processing has become more difficult.
