2I've been out of the area for quite some time and am thrilled to learn that Mary is still holding down the fort at magical place known as the Minkler Cash Store. Been nearly 50 years since I first stopped in the store and met the owner and resident historian of Minkler, CA-Sylvia Ashcroft who happened to have had a wonderful daughter who helped her mom run the store and back in the day, the feed store across the street from the general store. Her name, Mary! I've got to get over to Minkler and grab a stool at the bar, yes I said bar! I believe the only one still in existence in all of California and catch up on things with dear, sweet Mary.
I'm not sure there is a more delightful place or proprietor to meet. I never felt happier anywhere on Earth. I'm coming back to ask questions, gain knowledge. Minkler Cash Store may be the spiritual center of my universe. I'm a Minkler at heart.
