Montesacro SoMa reviews
18Great food terrible service but the worst is that they changed the amount I tipped on the receipt!
Wonderful hidden gem. Restaurant feels like a classic upscale Italian eatery. Order all the pizzas and share. The crusts are authentic and light. Fresh seasonal ingredients from local artisanal small farms. Excellent service. Highly recommend.
Lovely restaurant that has a very rustic charm to it. The pizza was absolutely delicious. Found out every ingredient is meticulously chosen for great quality (imported and local). Not only was the food great our waiter was phenomenal same with the host at the front. Thanks for accommodating us.

P. S.if you’ve been to Rome this is as authentic as it gets in SF.
My favorite pizza. Crust has a soft chew that dissolves in your mouth. Fresh ingredients and nice ambiance. If you are pizza fan, eat here.
Very good food! Only problem is service was much slower than expected, so make sure to make a reservation before you go!
If you want to enjoy proper Italian food you have to go to Montesacro. The crew import most of its product from Italy, to guarantee a true experience in a Roman cuisine.
Pizza is perfect. The ingredients are all imported. Best Italian spot in SF. Closest thing that reminded me of real Italian pizza from Rome or Naples. Hats off to the chef back there. Squisito!
Pretty disappointing experience as everything was very undersalted.
* I really appreciated the clearly labeled vegan and vegetarian options!
* I tried the cavolfiori and sott’oli for starters, and the grottaferrata for mains, the cavolfiori was promising texturally, however, it fell flat due to the lack of appropriate amounts of salt. The sott’oli had great texture, but again, inadequate salt.
* The grottaferrata had a great crust, however, the sauce was underwhelming (again, not enough salt). But more unfortunate was the unseasoned mushrooms on top that weren’t even fried. Other members at my table ordered a pinsa with chantarelles that looked perfectly sautéed, so I’m baffled as to why my order looked as it did. This was very disappointing.
* I enjoyed the chinotto for a drink, and highly recommend it!
Overall, I’m not sure I’d want to return. Undersalted food is pretty underwhelming.
My husband and I had dinner here last night prior to attending a performance at the Orpheum. It's located in an alley (Stevenson St.) between Market Street and Mission Street, so you might not know about the location unless you research restaurants in the theater district. We ate out on the upstairs patio terrace, which was lovely. We enjoyed the ambiance out there. The bubbly and wine was good. The pizza was good, though different than we're used to. Overall, we enjoyed our experience and it's within walking distance to the Orpheum.
Great food and such a cute little surprise tucked back in this alley. It's the kind of place I'd love to spend a lazy afternoon sipping wine with friends and sharing snacks.
Amazing food, great service, the panacota is just like in Italy. Only minus, they don't have Italian cappuccino! Besides that, it's just perfect.
Wonderfully cozy and authentic food made by genuine people. Ask for Antonio when you go, you won't be disappointed.
Take out, October 2021
It is not worth it at all! Pinsas are overpriced
So disappointed! The Casal Bertone pizza pasta was sweet, with honey!
The ingredients are so rare on the pizzas, you pay especially for the dough!
We waited for 30-40 minutes to get 2 half pizzas.
We are European and used to go to Italy and eat Napolitan pizze. Even these are Roman, we never ate such bad pizzas as these! Moreover the prices are so high! (21$ for the Corviale pinsa!
I love this place. Some of the best pizza in the city and the people that work there are lovely.
The pennacotta has good consistency and right level of sweetness. Pinsas have a good variety - liked the lamb sausage artichokes pinsa!
Really good place with a cool outdoor upstairs with live music. Great cheese plates and pizza.
Cozy restaurant, really yummy pizza, had a good cheese & meat plate. The service was great at the beggining and a bit slow towards the end.
