Motel 6 Marina, CA - Monterey

I just left there after spending 2 1/2 weeks there. To me after having experienced over 30 motel 6 across California this is the very best upperclass Motel 6 there is. I work graveyard at the 7-11 nearby, sorry to my neighbors I had cause of the different hours I had if I was loud. But it was clean, quiet and the staff was very friendly after I got off work I was allowed to do laundry which was a change. There’s no bad seeds there it was really really quiet not like a majority of motel 6. Mostly vacationers stayed. It’s the best motel 6 out of about 37 or 38 I’ve been to

I was disappointed with the staff. I believe they likely stole my personal property.

I forgot a neatly organized tote with ~$300 worth of toiletries outside my room. It contained a full suite of supplies for a longterm trip, including an electric tooth brush, electric razor, razors, soaps, supplements, etc.

A few hours after check out when I was in Pismo, I noticed the items missing. I contacted them and they promised to hold the items until I returned the next month. 31 days later I called to pick up my property, and they claimed to have 30 day lost and found period. They claimed to have "disposed" of the items the previous day. I contacted corporate and their management with no reply.

Other than that, I noticed a low morale and grumpiness from the staff.

The reservations line, which has nothing to do with the actual motel, are very rude. Three times I asked for the Senior Discount when I was paying, (which is the only time you can apply it) and they neglected to do that - and then said there was no way they could change it to add it. One guy seemed to do it on purpose like they were trying to save the company $20 bucks.

Gone downhill faster than a landslide. Queen bed was a full at best. Blew my nose and flushed tissue down the toilet and it overflowed! They said could not fix till morning. Gave us an additional room that the T. V was broken and said we could watch t.v in one room and use the other room for hygiene. Ridiculous. Checked out and went to marina motel 6. The Monterey motel is privately owned, marina corporate owned. Avoid at all cost.

Clean and quiet room. Everyone on property very helpful and the coffee was good! Thank you Monterey/Marina Motel 6 team!

The front office staff were really nice. I got a courtesy call in the afternoon before I got there and she warned me about the rain and to be sure to bring a raincoat. She also said that there was a Walmart nearby if we forgot anything.
When we got there, I asked for a 2nd floor room as I'm pretty sensitive to noise and she found an upstairs room but it would take 40 more minutes to get cleaned. I accepted. Then after about a half an hour, she called me to tell me the room was ready.

Room was very basic. No refrigerator or microwave, think it was overpriced for what we got. Room was clean, bed was uncomfortable. Staff was friendly and professional.

When I came to check in I witnessed a scene where some guests were having trouble working out where they could park their moving truck for the night. The staff was very unreceptive to working something out, and ended up insisting that they couldn’t stay and park their truck but refusing to give them a refund. The guests were reasonable enough, but weren’t satisfied with that, so the staff called the police. I was not impressed.

On to the rooms. They are actually small, but reasonably clean and updated. The only issue that I had was the fact that our room had a connecting door with the neighboring room with a 1 inch gap at the bottom. With wood floors you can probably guess that I was able to hear every word our neighbors said for our entire stay, and they were not loud.

Overall, I would do as much as I could to avoid staying here, but I could probably suffer another night if I had to.

It’s not like any motel 6, this one is way different in a good way! Modern and clean rooms with wifi, nice staff and even has a garden! Also has a Denny’s and even a quick 2 minute drive to the marina state beach which is a bonus. Definitely recommend

I booked a stay for 4 nights at this hotel. There was a big event that weekend which resulted in 2 days of over 3 times the normal rate and 2 days of 5 times the normal rate. Despite this, our room and trash were not cleaned and when i requested some help with shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste was told to purchase from the vending machine or the store down the block. The floor was sandy when we arrived. I was disappointed.
With the higher rates, i would hope for a little better service.

Really awesome stay. The person at the front desk was so nice! Beautiful garden outside. Also there is a denny's right there, which was awesome and also really delicious. Only complaint is there wasn't a fridge or coffee maker. Great location though!

We enjoyed the stay. We came back August 2021 and had a bad frightening experience. A car backed into the room next to us.

Check in was different, all adults must have their ID scanned or they will not check you in. The room was clean enough but lacking in a lot of ways. One of the soaps in the bathroom was already opened and there was hair on the floor in a corner like it had accumulated there over time, there was also a layer of dust under the sink, that was gross. The lock didn't work on the bathroom door and the handle was loose. The courtyard was cute but the sidewalk was covered in bird poop so some attention needed is there. Over all they need to spend some time like once a month and do a deep clean in places they don't get in the day to day cleaning operations. The courtyard should have more regular maintenance, weekly at least, if not more often. The laundry is the main reason we chose this location, they have two washers and two dryers, washers are on the small side. However, they won't give you you change at the front due to the coin shortage so make sure you bring quarters with you. Over all it wasn't terrible, but we probably won't ever stay there again. Oh and, Denny's is right next door and WalMart right behind the motel so that was convenient.

For $320.00, we got no WiFi, no pictures on the wall, no kleenex and 3 little roaches or Water bugs in the shower. Very sparse accommodations for what we paid. The clerk was very nice. The beds were comfortable and the TV worked well, but not worth the price we paid. Very disappointed. Will not return or recommend.

This Motel 6 is very clean and well-maintained. The location is fantastic: you can walk to the beautiful Marina State Beach and enjoy the beauty and solitude it offers.

Front desk person was polite and handled my check-in quickly then directed me to my room which was very helpful. The bed looked nice and tidy. The bathroom had dried blood behind the door but it looked like they were able to remove the dried blood from other parts of the room so not 100% a failure.

Good location, clean, good price. Everything was perfect but no coffee maker, fridge, microwave but Dennys is 1 min walking distance
