Mount Woodson Trailhead reviews
15Fantastic hike! Allow at least three hours, bring a lot of water, and wear plenty of sunscreen. This hike is definitely a physical and mental endurance test, but it is very achievable if you're prepared.and the views at the top are worth all the sweat and strain!
Nice hike to go out and do on regular day. Carry lots of water if it's scorching outside. It's got lot of rocky sections, so watch your step. It's dog permitted trail, so you can have your pet for company. Overall a good hike with great views along the way and at the summit.
Wonderful place to hike, picnic or just spend time with family. Hiking all the way to the top of Mt. Woodson can be strenuous but its worth it.
This place is the place for potato chip rock if you're wondering! The trail is consistently tiring, as most of it is constantly uphill, there is little sections where it's just flat land, but those sections are very scarce on this trail. This will get you breathing and sweating as the trail gets hot in the day, so bring lots of water. There was a long line at the rock, but I caught a marriage proposal and everyone got along and was friendly. Great hike and great fun.
Great place to spend holidays, hike, and barbeque. Nice little playground for the children to play, pedal boats, motor and row boats to enjoy the lake also. Convenient spot to fish. Nice pavilions for barbeques, and picnics.
Awesome trail with potato chip rock at the summit. I recommend bringing at least 2L of water for this hike as it's about 6mi round trip.
This place is a challenge alright! 4 stars for the hour wait to take your picture on the potato chip rock. Bring extra water it gets hot!
Good hike to the top of Mt Woodson. If you're trying to get a picture on top of potato chip rock, go early. I've done this hike twice and both times there was a hilarious line for people to t ake pictures in the afternoon. The hike itself is steep and a pretty good work out though. You will sweat and be winded.
This was a great experience. Not a good hike if it's your first time ever hiking. I definitely made that mistake, but the views are awesome. The battle wounds are worth it.
Awesome views. Moderate to hard hike, especially if you have little kids with you. Plan to wait in line for a good while at Potato Chip rock. The gates close to the Lake Poway recreation area shortly after 5: 30p, so plan your hike accordingly.
No picture out on the rock. Long line to take pictures so just took at s distance when no one on the rock. Decent hike. Not too strenuous for someone 60!
Medium-level hike if you start from lake Poway, take at least half a gallon of water per person, light clothes, sunscreen, hiking shoes, 10$ for parking on weekends, and patience for the line on potato chip!
Not sure why everyone loves this so much. It's a service Rd, paved, straight uphill and down. No bathrooms, no water, no trash cans, no parking.
Really a nice hike. Well marked with good footing. Of course, the photo op on potato chip rock is the feature attraction.
This is one trailhead leading to the locally famous potato chip rock coming up from the lake Poway side of mountain. It's a great hike. The upper portion of trail has a lot of large rock steps and tight switchbacks that require you to carry a bike if you try riding up.
