Mountain House Branch Library

I received a letter from the San Joaquin Library saying that I need to pay for 2 children's books totaling $37.98. I quickly went to the Mountain House Library today. The administrator said that the books had watermarks and were not dry. I am really speechless.two books return two weeks ago, It has been more than ten days since November 25th to today, December 6th, and the books are still wet to the touch. I really don’t believe that the books we returned are wet. Although I paid and bought two wet books today, I feel very bad.

Now I understand why the this library is deserted

The worst experience in my life in this library. I went in for a library card. I showed the worker my drive license photo in my phone. The staff told me I needed an update address drive license or other document can proof my name and current address on it since I moved in Mountain House.
I called my husband. He texted me a document with my name and current address on it. The other worker came said no must give her physical drive license, can’t be photo in phone. I asked why she said no reason this is her library policy with very bad attitude. I asked to talk library manager she said manager on vacation.

I said give the phone number I can call the office to ask why to have a library card must need present physical drive license. She gave me a phone number I called in front of her the number does not work. I asked why phone did not work she said she didn’t want to answer. She asked me to library website. Bad service, bad attitude, discouraging people, students to borrow books from library.

Very nicely maintained library with awesome staff. You can get your prints, scan other office activities at very low price and the staff will be always helpful to assist.

I would never recommend anyone to visit this library. This is not really useful library. They have only computer to watch something but you’re not able to download or upload something do not come over here and don’t waste your time.

When I signed up for library card I was told there are no late fees for returning kids books late.they have charged me for not returning one of the books after second reminder and marked book as LOST. They informed me it will go to collections if fines are not paid. They have charged my account for another book as damaged (pencil scribble marks on one of the pages)
Around $35 files for 2 books. I am not sure if book was already damaged when we borrowed it.
Don’t borrow more books than you need from this library. Also, do check every book you borrow for any existing damages. With fines they are only discouraging people borrowing more books.

Update: they removed the fine on “lost” book after I returned book.

My twelve year old daughter forgot to return her book and I learned about this from a collection agency today. This is the first time I have ever seen a library send overdue balances of kids to collection agencies. I will pay the $60 they charged and will close the account of my daughter today.

Love this library, how ever the white lady with short short hair is so rude and racist. She is so toxic but am going to still come in with my brown children and check out books. Next time she gives me attitude am going report her
