Mountain Peak Grooming reviews
15Have had a lot of luck with last-minute availability and our big S+GSD always comes home smelling so good with the softest coast.
I have my two dogs’ nails trimmed here regularly and one is super nervous about it/skittish. We get awesome care and service from Gillian every time!
Lovely grooming and very kind folks - definitely dog lovers! Our small dog has long hair and they really took the time to get all her mats out etc.
Trin was amazing, we took our griffon in for a last minute gland expression before the holidays and she was so kind to fit us in. She was fast, effective, and super kind. We will be coming back 100%.
Mountain Peak Pet Grooming is amazing! The professional and friendly staff turned my two Labrador spring-shedding fur balls into silky fluffy gorgeous pups. Thank you for the amazing grooming job! We will be back every eight weeks.
Amazing! We brought our large Yellow Lab in during his peak shedding season and they eliminated the existence of his shed. We now bring him in once a month and it’s like night and day! He’s more comfortable and we no longer have everything covered in dog hair. 10/10 would recommend Mountain Peak if you have a Tahoe dog.
Gillian and crew do a wonderful job keeping our golden retriever, Rosie, and her unruly, wavy coat in good order! Rosie went from a nervous pup to a happy camper who loves to visit her friends at Mountain Peak! They have a clean shop, are sweet and kind to all the doggies, and very efficient. Prices are reasonable and they do their best to get you in at a time convenient to you. Rosie is always cheerful and calm after a visit to her grooming friends at Moountain Peak!
Poor communication. Awful hair cut. Not safe for dogs. I’ve since started going to places in Reno & South Lake Tahoe—all those experiences have been good (just book early, they tend to fill up for good reason). I would strongly advise against this place if you care at all about your pup—my experience here was unbelievably bad.
UPDATE: The claims below about 5 star reviews are completely ridiculous. I have observed this company claiming that bad reviews are “bots” and “spam” and going on to state that the company is reporting the review—those reviews then disappear. Unbelievably dishonest. I hardly ever post reviews, but given that pattern of concerning behavior, I decided that an honest review was much-needed here. I strongly recommend that you go elsewhere. The owner’s repeated, bizarre and defensive engagement—rather than owning up to the serious problems and how the owner intends to fix them—should tell you all that you need to know; *not* a person that I’d want taking care of my pup!
I’m surprised that this place gets good reviews—my experience here a few months ago was terrible: (1) my dog received an awful, half-done hair cut; (2) they only clipped her back nails, left her front ones unclipped (despite being long) ; (3) did not file her nails; (4) left several large chunks of hair very obviously uncut; (5) shaved her face—which just looked bizarre and was not anywhere near the teddy bear cut I had asked for (my pup was not matted) …. I could go on with just the cut alone.
But there’s more: without my permission or telling me ahead of time, the owner passed my dog off to a woman who appeared to have no business grooming dogs (see above) — I only learned about the switch when I picked up my dog about *8 hours* later, despite the owner telling me that it would only take about 2 hours total and that she would be the one doing it. Her excuse? She had seriously overbooked herself for the day. So unprofessional and unsafe for dogs: as a groomer, you should know — within a reasonable margin of error — what you can safely handle ON YOUR OWN. The owner’s excuse added below is not credible, and that response gives me even *more* pause: “unpredictable” in no way justifies not doing a job you said you would do, particularly without any warning to the client—the owner had *hours* to give me a heads up, and should have empowered me to decide whether I was comfortable with someone else completing the groom (rather than just making the call herself). After all, the owner apparently had time to text me during those 8 hours to let me know that she herself was completing job, i.e, she actively chose to lie to a customer for hours only to fess up after the fact. Nor does “unpredictable” justify getting more than six hours behind schedule. Give me a break—it’s mind blowing how someone could be so dishonest and incompetent. I’ve never experienced such a breathtakingly low disregard for a client and the safety of a pet.
The place also looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in quite sometime—it’s dark and dingy with no safe place for the dogs to be. When I arrived to pick up my dog, my dog was just wandering around in the shop without any supervision and chemicals everywhere. Thank goodness I was already in the parking lot waiting for my pup to be done.
For nearly $100, you can get a heck of a lot better service elsewhere, along with some peace of mind. It’s well worth the drive to Reno or even South Lake Tahoe. You’ll likely end up needing to go there anyway, if your experience is even a bit like mine—save yourself a great deal of worry & frustration from the grave incompetence.
The best. Did I say the best? We have had Olly groomed in SF and Reno - but this was by far the best experience - and so accommodating. Thank you Gillian for a great day!
We always take our dog to Mountain Peak Grooming for her nail cut. They are prompt, courteous and quick! Highly recommend!
Gillian is great. Made quick work trimming nails on my 125# Bernese Mountain Dog and fit me into a tight schedule to do it. Thanks,
Denali has been going to see Gillian all summer and loves it there. Kona had her first spa day and shockingly they were able to work with her nervousness and size! We highly recommend taking your fur babies to see Gillian and gang.
We have a VERY large Bernese Mountain Dog and a very skittish Aussie cobberdog - Gillian and team are awesome with both. Such care and professionalism. I save all our grooming and bathing for Mountain Peak!
Trin did a great job with our little guy! Only his second time at the groomer and he already enjoys it. Comes home soft and looking splendid.
