I brought my boyfriend here to get rental boots and demo skis and throughout the next month he got his own boots, skis, poles, and helmet from Arturo and I got new goggles and my skis waxed! Arturo is super knowledgable and passionate about what he does and really cares about getting you the right fit for boots and skis, he would not sell you something that is not fully right for you which is why we trusted him so much. Amazing service, we will only be coming here for our ski equipment needs in the future!

Arturo is an expert when it comes to fitting ski boots. He has an incredible understanding of the process and takes the time to explain every step of it to you. He's always busy, which shows how much people trust him. Watching him work is a thrill in itself, but skiing in a boot that he has custom-molded to your feet is an entirely different experience. My goal was to make tight powder turns through the trees, and Arturo knew exactly how to make that happen. He spends his days evaluating feet, assessing their shape, stance, bumps, and everything else. He will punch your boot where it's rubbing, smooth out your liner, and do whatever is necessary to fit your feet perfectly. Arturo's personal attention and dedication to getting you the best fitting ski boot is unparalleled.

Mountain West is a full sales and service ski and snowboard shop. Arturo is a great boot fitter! He really took the time to ensure we got the right fit on boots! I highly recommend this place!

I came to South Lake Tahoe knowing I'd need to buy skis that would allow me to enjoy the conditions. My 9-year-old east coast skis were just way too small underfoot and not gonna cut it in powder! After demo-ing through another shop, I felt like I hadn't found the right pair of skis. I really needed some guidance.

From the moment I walked into the shop, Arturo's expertise in all things skiing was evident. He blew me away with the depth of his knowledge, his kindness, and the personalized service he provided. And it was obvious to me that other customers felt this way, too! He greeted everyone coming in and out of the shop like an old friend. It was awesome to watch.:)

Arturo listened attentively to my experiences demoing other skis (even though it was through a different shop) and used that information to make thoughtful recommendations. I never once felt rushed or pressured to make a purchase. I felt like Arturo genuinely cared about finding the best skis for me, rather than just trying to make a sale.

I left Mountain West with the *perfect* pair of skis (way better than anything I demoed or looked into myself). Arturo and his shop are such a gem! I'd highly recommend him to anyone in the South Lake Tahoe area.

After several years of renting skis and snowboards and never having things fit right, we decided to buy our own gear. We looked on yelp and found this store close by and decided to check them out. This is an owner operated store with a great selection of excellent brands and the owner “Arturo” has a ton of knowledge and was absolutely awesome to work with. You just don’t find the level of customer service we experienced these days. There was no rush and no high pressure sales. The focus was making sure everything fit right and let me tell you, once you get gear that is custom fitted to you, the feel is night and day. They also have a service shop in the back and the owner personally mounted everything perfectly and because my foot is wide and weird shaped, he used a specialized machine to expand my boots in the areas where there was pressure on my feet so they fit just right. I can’t recommend this place enough. They also offer rental gear and it was way higher quality than any of the rentals we previously had in Tahoe and much less expensive than other shops (and they make sure the gear fits whether you are renting or buying). Again, you just don’t find this level of customer service these days! Highly recommend!

Arturo and his wife are simply good people. Moreover, they stand by their products, and they know their business. Thanks for the boot fit, and the tune! It makes me happy to support a local, family owned business (and their tune was a very fair price too). Finally, the honest advice about fixing my friend's boots was much appreciated.

Arturo and his crew are true professionals. I had never gotten ski boots fitted before, and I knew very little going in. Arturo helped educate me and talked me through trying on several boot options. I fully trust Arturo's expertise, and he's got great stories too if you're there for a while. I've got my go-to ski shop now.
