MT Lock & Key Services, North Hollywood CA

I have done research on this company, it is not backed by the Better Business Bureau, they are not Bonded or Insured. I have tried numerous times to reach a service manager or owner regarding the services I received at my home. The technician, who claimed to be a contractor, did not give me a quote for the door-opening service I requested before attempting to open my door. He then proceeded to break open my door using force that caused damage to the door jam and interior frame. There was no attempt to remove/drill the lock cylinder or create a new key, and once the “service” was completed he demanded an exorbitant fee of $711 for less than a half hour of work. I was not provided with a receipt for the work effort completed. With the property damage incurred, I am demanding a refund in full and payment to repair the damage to the property. I will be pursuing legal action if this is not resolved within 72 hours. Consider this your notice, Matan Assayag.

On 6/20/23, MT Lock & Key Services sent me a dishonest technician. When I made a detailed complaint about him, the dispatcher said he would have the supervisor call me. I never received a call. I was locked out of my condo and my neighbor made the call to MT on my behalf. She was told that the technician would call within 5-10 minutes to give me an estimate and how long before he would arrive. He called her but didn’t give her an estimate. When he arrived, he said it would cost $350. I told him that it should not cost that much just to open a door and that if he had told us his estimate when he called, I never would have hired him. His excuse was that my neighbor did not ask for an estimate. He tried to bargain with me and asked how much I was willing to pay so I said $100. He agreed to do the job for that price so I asked him how he could do it for $100 when he said it would be $350 and he said he would do it and not tell his boss. He insisted that he would have to cut off the door knob and replace it which was ridiculous. As he worked, he damaged my door. It wasn’t just scratched. The wood was deeply dug into and chipped. When I asked him for his business card, he said that he didn’t have one. I then asked him for the name of the company he worked for and he lied and said Key Me. He completely damaged the door knob when trying to cut it off. At some point, he said that he had to get something out of his car. He left and never returned, leaving a mess on the patio and a door knob that was completely destroyed. I would never use this company again and will definitely warn other people about my experience. I plan to enter a review like this one on Yelp and on the Nextdoor app. If I can think of other places to enter a review, I will do so. I will also report this company to the Better Business Bureau. The address listed online for this company is not a business address. It’s somebody’s apartment. I read another complaint about this company by someone who said she was able to negotiate a price for half of what she was quoted. It sounds to me like her technician tried to pull the same scam that my technician did.

MT Lock & Key Services was a lifesaver! I accidentally locked myself out of my house and they arrived within 20 minutes to help me out. The locksmith was professional, friendly, and efficient. I highly recommend this company!
