This is close to top of the mountain. Either Nordic or hike from here. Or watch the stars at night. Beautiful scenery everywhere.

I’ve been here only once but I had a truly enjoyable experience. The drive up and down the mountain road was beautiful. It was winter and the road was hazardous. But with 4WD it was easily managed. At the top the parking area was well maintained. The Ski Patrol personal at the Nordic Center were friendly and helpful. The “snow play” area looked fun.
I have two minor issues. 1. Seating is severely limited. In particularly for those how are disabled. More solid bench like seating. 2. Toilets. I see no reason why modern clean toilets with paper, soap and water are not more plentiful. Porta-potties are so last century. If we are going to land people on Mars, why can’t we build better toilets in are forest and desert parks.
I would recommend this area for its winter time activities. Specifically snow showing and cross country skiing.

It is the best place if you want to enjoy snow in and around Los Angeles

In the Summer you will find a lot of people up here at night around the New Moon using astronomical telescopes. Several clubs show up, too, and we are all happy to answer any questions and share views. If you have a telescope you don't know how to use or even binoculars, bring them. One of the few places near the city to go to that is still reasonably dark. Come early, bring a red flashlight or cover yours with red tail light lens repair tape and have fun.
