8The TH begins in Poway lake Park, which has a great atmosphere for families and large groups, also fishing and boat rentals. The hike to Mount woodson is great for a 7 mile round trip and about 1600 feet of elevation gain. There are other trails and great for trail runners. Awesome
Incredible hike if you're training and need elevation, but nothing interesting until you get to potato chip. You'll get over it after your first visit, too. It's always heavily trafficked and often very hot if you go later in the day.
I love the tree and rocks just beyond the halfway point. You can see the ocean, la Jolla, all of poway of course.
Great hike.about 3 hours round trip. Nearly all uphill there. Lots of great views, you can see the ocean too.
Tons of stairs with a clear trail. Boulders surround you has you go higher and higher. We went on a rainy day so getting up was like being in the clouds. It got cold up there too. Totally walking distance is about 8 miles. Pack accordingly. Very beautiful.
Busy hike but worth the view from the top. We went up the road which is steep and then had a nice leisurely downhill to the park and had shuttle a car. Love the hippo Rock
Well developed trail. High traffic on weekends. Recommend weekdays with free parking. On another note: if you take a dog, please clean up after them and keep them leashed at all times!
This is a very fun, beautiful, and somewhat challenging hike. Go early in the morning before it gets too hot, and avoid weekends-too crowded. A nice surprise near the summit.
