Muir Beach Overlook reviews
20Loved the view at the top was amazing to see the high cliffs and the fence around the walk path made it nice safe to reach the view point
BRING HIKING BOOTS! The lookout is a wonderful spot hanging off the edge of the country and with shorelines that are breathtaking and sing to you! The crows and other birds are pretty huge. The planet life is lush and very impressive! (Not too good in rainy weather.)
Started my [long-awaited] Mendocino trip on CA-1 with this spot. Really overwhelmed after discovering the bunkers inside this park, which we got to know later to be built for observation purpose during the second world war. Not much surprised because we did not stop there for long, but would have been happier if some whale or seal had an appearance. On the other hand, the sightings of the wild turkeys on the road consoled us. Visiting the beach can take entire day, so I kept that for another time.
Love this place. No beach access is the one -1 they get. Amazing amazing views of the bay and ocean. Decent amount of parking too. I prefer to come here check things out in the evening to night. Love it.
It's a very, very beautiful place just 15 minutes drive from Muir Woods. Lovely place for an outdoor family picnic with beach view, restrooms and awesome view points. Sunset can be best viewed from here.
Fantastic view of the coast north and south.with a long path out to the overlook. Great place to stop in on your way to or from Stinson Beach.
It is an awesome breath taking view and not hard to get down to the beach if your able to do a little climbing and we had to stay till night fall to check out the stars! It is a spot to do 2 times for sure!
If you are near Muir beach area or driving along the CA1 you should definitely have a quick stop here. The view is really beautiful. Many times it will be foggy and will not have a clear sky, but thats the beauty of driving along pacific coast. You will definitely capture some wonderful pictures.
It is always windy here whether it's summer or winter. If you come, bring your hoodie or a warm jacket with you, if it rains it becomes even more chilly. So it's better to have a raincoat or a down jacket which is waterproof. The restrooms are clean. Parking is generally available. You can walk down to the beach but it is 40 minutes. Hike one way down. Coming back will be uphill and will take 60 minutes. Muir woods Access is 3 mi away which is like a 1 hour plus hike
Very nice place to visit. Road may be a little tight driving to and from. But, as long as you're careful and you drive safely.it's definitely worth a visit.
I lived for years in Mill Valley and visited Muir Beach dozens of times, but I never knew this overlook existed. It’s actually very easy to reach by car, has easily walkable paths out over the cliffs in multiple directions and has absolutely stunning views! Well worth a quick side trip if you’re driving between Muir Beach and Stinson.
It's a little hidden gem that we never stopped by until today, totally worth it!
The view was amazing and you have a few picnic tables to eat while enjoying the view!
First time visiting this site. The view was amazing and worth the trip. The walk to the overlook was not too difficult. There were bathrooms available in the parking lot.
How do you rate Mother Nature? It was super misty/foggy but very cool to watch it roll up the side of the ocean cliff. We couldn’t see anything really but had that scary sense of awe. I’m afraid of heights and the railing felt a little flimsy but terror will make you question everything.
This was a really cool overlook. Somewhat creepy with all the fog but it was quiet and gave you a great vantage point. It's off the beaten path compared to the rest of Muir Woods/Muir Beach. There were also picnic tables available. You could spend just a couple minutes there to check it out or and hour for lunch.
It’s a beautiful scenic area with a nice path down to the edge of the cliff. There is plenty of parking and two restrooms. It took about 15 minutes.
A must see! I will remember that forever. Any riders that tend to get motion sickness, take some Dramamine beforehand. Very winding scenic road on the way there and back.
Views were excellent. The trail was a little tricky. They do have bathrooms but they are outhouse style and there is no running water so bring your wipes and or hand sanitizer.
15 mins walk from parking lot. It's ok to spend sometime and have picnic. It's a day use area.timings 9am to 9.pm. Dog friendly beach.
I took me almost 20 years to get here. I was not disappointed at all. Clean facility, easy to walk and the staff is super friendly. The views are going to take your breath away. The trails are clean and easy to walk because they made a path that anybody can follow. 98% of the trail is flat and supper accessible to strollers and wheelchairs. They have multiple rest areas along the trial for those that cannot walk for long periods of time.
