Museum Musée Mécanique reviews
27Always a fun time here! I used to have a membership here 10 years ago. But have not had a chance to return.came here with the kids on a Sunday afternoon. We explored almost the entire place except the planetarium. The aquarium is my favorite especially the jellies. The rainforest wasn't very crowded, the butterflies, the parrots, the spiders.oh my! The earthquake room exhibit was also a favorite. Great place to spend with the kids.
Super friendly staff. Super informative. It was an absolute pleasure to see this history first hand and check how sailors used to be and work back in the day. I enjoyed the experience a lot.
I grew up going to this place. It was always just so magical. And then to bring my daughter there, it was always a treat and a half.
Whenever we would tell the kids that we were going there, they were just squeal with excitement.
The people who run it are friendly and welcoming.
It takes a lot of work to keep those old things and the games functioning but it is so fascinating to see these things fully operational.
Totally magic and worth going to. You’ll be surprised on how awesome it is.
Este museo sorprende a los visitantes por lo divertido de su formato, en este sitio se puede ver la evolución del entretenimiento y como se aplicaban diferentes mecanismos en las máquinas tragamonedas de diferentes épocas. Muy recomendable
This museum surprises visitors for the fun of its format, in this site you can see the evolution of entertainment and how different mechanisms were applied to slot machines from different periods. Highly recommended
Super cool place packed with lots of old arcade games. The games are super cheap but still really fun. My wife and I had a great time there playing and looking at all the different entertainment from the past. It also seemed like a fun place to bring your kids. Entrance is free, which is another plus.
Unique old arcade with games that vary with age (from old to relatively new). There is a big variety and games are usually cheap. Located right by fisherman's wharf.
Absolutely amazing! With less than $5 you could have so much fun with all the machines. The collection is magnificent, a must-visit if you are around Fisherman's Wharf.
Wonderful old Arcade and Pinball machines.
I feel like 30 years ago. Also the very old machines are impressing.
This arcade is really cool, even if you're not into these games it's still fun to walk around and take pictures of all the really old games they have there which mostly work I think we had 2 quarters eaten at most, when we went it was later in the evening not too busy, most of the games were about 2-3 quarters, pretty awesome place!
I consider this an absolutely mandatory stop for most visitors to Fisherman's Wharf/Pier 39. It's off the main street but its a great experience. I occasionally have family visit from out of town and I typically plan at least an hour at Musée Mécanique. It's unique blend of SF history and interactive fun is usually a hit, and $10 goes a long, LONG way (unlike most other attractions in the area).
Absolutely LOVE this place. A Must visit of places in San Francisco. Being a gamer from the 70's I Really appreciate the collection of machines put together here.
I also love the old piano/orchestra machines, the strongarm sideshow man (disappointed that they put a padded glove on his hand though!), and the history that is in this place.
Don't leave San Francisco without visiting. You won't be disappointed.
Discovered this straight away after our Uber dropped me off. Was drawn in and no regrets at all. Great to see so much of history reserved here.
Very cool and free to visit! Almost all the games are playable for a quarter or more. There are ATMs and change machines inside. There's a great variety of old, old machines through to the 90s.
No food or drink are allowed inside.
It's nice as a museum but not for actually playing. Machines are so old that it's a total rip off so don't waste your coins.
My kids absolutely loved it. My husband and I absolutely loved it. We will be planning another visit soon.
Free to go in. But you pay to play the myriad games. A great selection of old antique and vintage games both mechanical and video. I saw one video game "Death Race" that I played with my son that the *last* time I played this one was in the mid 1970's!
This was a lot of fun to go to! There's a lot of Carnival games that were very interesting to go to. It's a place that can be fun for the whole family (8 years+). All the attractions are around $1. Drop by if you're around!
This is wonderful for video games lovers you can play Pac-Man, street fighter and many many more apart for the old machines there real treasures there it's amazing for all ages
This was my daughter's favorite place on the wharf. A brief respite from an overpriced city, she could go to town on $5, thanks to many 25 and 50 cent arcades. No food or drink being allowed was inconvenient but understandable.
Such a unique, fun, engaging experience. You can spend as much or as little money as you want. You can just walk around and watch what others pay for. You can't miss this nostalgia. Just amazing!
