My Fish Stop, Sherman Oaks CA

I picked up a diet coke from the fridge they have there. When I got home I realized it was a weird color. It looked like ice tea. When I opened it, the seal was already broken and I got the impression someone had drank some and filled it back up with water. The rest of the food was pretty bad. Relish, picked carrots, pickled cauliflower, pepperonicinis and coleslaw on my shrimp po boy. 2 fillets with two sides had something off about all of it. Lobster mac was not edible.

Lobster Mac is good. Grilled snapper had great flavor but was a very small serving. The greens were under cooked and should have a ham hock.

I had such hope for this place based on the reviews. I got the Rebel with lobster mac and cheese, and coleslaw as the two sides. All delivered via Postmates. The pros: It was quick and piping hot. Sadly, that’s where it ended. The cons: The fried catfish and fillet where indistinguishable from one another as far as flavor… they and the shrimp were coated in a mixture of so much salt and so much pepper that after five bites…I couldn’t take it anymore. Pretty sure my blood pressure went through the roof on the sodium overload within the first minute, and the flavor was pure “salt-burn-and-pepper-hot”. The coleslaw is ineible. It is the worst coleslaw ever had in my life… It is so unpleasant…can’t quite put my finger on what it is that’s included in their coleslaw that makes it have this bitterness beyond the bitterness of cabbage kind of watery and “weak” as well. The lobster mac & cheese is a glop of broken up shards of macaroni noodle, possibly shell shaped pasta in there as well; it’s mushy and overcooked. And the lobster is in little shreds and threads. We expected a nice solid mac & cheese with chunks or at least separate and distinguishable pieces of lobster. Additionally, it has the taste and viscosity of Velveeta cheese. So so so bad. All in edible a complete and total waste of the money we spent on this so-called meal. The pieces of fish are so thin that they’re mainly breading… I tried to peel of the breading to feed the fish to my cat, but couldn’t free more the crumbles from the breading since… there was hardly any fish. She ate a bit of it… then hopped away and threw it up. Oh my.

Im not one to share bad experiences but after spending 62 dollors on meal to eat snapper that taste like it was fried in burnt grease the macaroni lobster was horrible, fries and shrimp hush puppies great! Back to fish one I’ll be going

I’m usually underwhelmed by food in LA, especially any type of soul food. BUT the food here is so good!

On a regular walk in my community I found the best seafood restaurant in Cali. My Fish Stop is not only made from the heart but black owned. That’s what makes it different and special. The seasoning is makes it taste like home. I would definitely recommend this place if your around.

MISSISSIPPI, USA (via Eat the World Los Angeles) - The fish in question at this stop, or more accurately the preparation style, is born in Mississippi. And for southerners of that state who have relocated west or any travelers that have taken the Blues Highway along the Mississippi River towards the delta in Louisiana, this fish stop is going to turn into their fish stop. In a state where most freshwater sources carry plenty of catfish, this is the name of the game here as well, bringing back memories of the greasy spoons in every small Mississippi town that serves fried fish meals.

Being born and raised in the south this place takes me home. I love catfish and this place does not disappoint. Everything is delicious.it's as if I road up on a old fried fish house while on my way to the lake somewhere in the south. I love this place!

Only gave a 4 stars because you can't buy less than a pound of fish, only a pound or more. I only wanted 1/4 pound for myself and could not eat or use a full pound. Other than that, I got the Delta which is 2 catfish filets and two sides. I had the lobster Mac n cheese and collards. The fish was good, seasoned well but a tad bit on the small side. The greens were spicy and the Mac n cheese had lobster and was very good. It was also very rich so I couldn't eat it all. I chatted with the co-owner Maria, and she was so very nice. I enjoyed my meal and would go back

My mom wanted fried fish while we were in San Fernando Valley, my sister suggested I goggle fried fish and we found "My Fish Stop". The food was delicious and the service great. The young lady behind the counter was polite, patient and point out the specials on the menu. We will be returning, maybe next time I can get pictures before we start eating. LOL

I spent $40 here and barely got enough food to feed myself and my 4 year old. Like 10 literal fries in my order of fries. Pound of catfish nuggets was more like half pound at most. One tiny filet of catfish that looked like it was cut in half. Ridiculous I had to make more food after we ate. One tiny stomach and my own makes no sense. I try this place over and over again and every time I’m left let down. Will not be returning.

Best fish place in the valley PERIOD. If u like fried fish this spot is a must go to. Peach cobbler is good too. Love the outdoor seating and TVs as well

Wish they would open for lunch time.i dont live in the area so being able to eat here for lunch would be awsome

I ordered the sea bass, yams, greens and Mac n cheese for pickup…. Can you say delicious? ! Food was prepared quickly and seasoned to perfection. Plus, the owner is super friendly. I can’t wait to come back!

The address on their site stated this place was in Sherman Oaks, the maps will recognize the address in Van Nuys; it must be on the border line.
We ordered catfish nuggets, collard greens, Mac& lobster and a banana pudding. Haven’t eaten the pudding yet.
Overall the food was average to okay. The greens we too spicy with hot sauce and not enough flavor. The Mac & lobster was interesting but not great. The catfish was average. I think the food is nice, just not for me.

This is one of a kind fish place. To start with the guy that works there is awesome. He got all the positive energy in the world. Very nice and very welcoming. The food was super good. My toddler who never likes fish ate the whole salmon. As she describe him “ the best cook”. I 100 recommended this place and i am so happy to find it out near my house. Keep up the great energy

The food was so good! I loved the customer service. Only thing I didn’t really like the lobster Mac. It was probably the best one around though lol. My first time trying it and I’m just use to traditional Mac and cheese is all but the man can cook so everything was really delicious and I will be back definitely

I’ve tried the Delta/Catfish the Lobster Mac n Cheese, and the Banana Pudding, and hands down this food is addictive!

Staff is super helpful and friendly in their suggestions.
