New Melones Lake Site reviews
7It's a nice spot but definitely busy. Camp host doesn't regulate anything so you have too many people in a spot and you have people being loud all night (past 1am). A lot of people don't respect your camp site a d will walk through. The restrooms are kept relatively clean and the showers are decent. It's about a 2 min drive to get to a decent spot to swim at in the lake
Dry and Why? ! Lake water was sludge like and the campsite was plagued with rowdy and inconsiderate campers. The camp grounds had very sharp rocks so make sure to bring a pad. Water from the waterline was sometimes yellow. Don't Go!
Good camp site for RVs (no hook-ups) and boats but very congested. Camp host doesn’t enforce quiet hours, Friday night still noisy past midnight til 2 am. Showers and restrooms were well maintained and working; lines formed around 8am. Centrally located, 20 min drive to town, New Melones Lake Marina or Natural Bridges Trailhead. Avoid campsites #18,20,22 ADA and 24, no trees for the hot summer months and mostly gravel.
This is a party campground, so don’t camp here unless you have an rv or plan on doing the same. The camp host will not enforce quiet hours, people played music until midnight and were loud until 3 in the morning. Several guests got back into their vehicles and drove up and down the road at 3 am, clearly intoxicated.
My family has been camping in this area for over 30 years, but never during a pandemic. We were advised that there would be social distancing and mask enforcement but there was not and the Acorn (were I was) site was the only site with running water. New Malone’s was closed because of another sewer problem for 2nd year. I would rate less but it still remains a beautiful place to camp.
Rough camping. No water service, very hot and dry, and the people in the site next to us were up until 2 AM. Quiet hours were not enforced. Cars were driving up and down the road all night even though the front gate was supposed to be closed. We left the next morning for home, foregoing our Yosemite trip.
