Beautiful library! Staff was helpful and accommodating. I love how they have a game rental area!

Staff members are kind and friendly. You can check out 50 books and 10 DVDs. They will automatically renew 4 times. It’s not an OC library branch but you can make a card with your CA driver’s license.

Adults without kids cannot access the kids library. So my hubby put a hold on some books from there so he could get them from the hold shelf. We arrived and they weren't ready but the librarian took the time to get some of them for us. That was so nice of her and very much appreciated. Thank you for going above and beyond!

Excellent library. Superior service a locally funded media center up to date checkout and online services. Beautiful location just blocks from the beach. Don't miss the statue park to the immediate north.

Dude!
Love this library!
You can't even tell where the time has gone.
But you're still exploring this library. I used the computer at the library and everyone was so peacefully doing their work.

Without a doubt the nicest, most organized and cleanest public library I have ever had the pleasure to visit and use. Newport Beach residents have a genuine jewel of a public space here. In addition to the wonderful selection of books, magazines and newspapers there is also a large selection of movies and music to check out. The architecture is splendid as well. Worth a visit. Plenty of comfortable seating too!

This is a beautiful local city library. The staff here have been nothing but kind and helpful to me. What follows is long but has some great TIPs for you for visiting this beautiful library. Part of a civic city building complex located between Avocado and Mac Arthur street. North of PCH next to the ocean there is a market area with a Bristol Farms market anchor store. Lots of fufu ladies clothes with a few eateries. Parking for the library is to the immediate left of the market area (photo). This main parking will access the front south ocean side of the library. With overflow parking from the civic center structure to the rear north east (photo) at the back corner. TIP - The 1N OCTA bus route drops you on the Avocado street west side. A small bridge will get you on to the south west corner of the library. Straight ahead is the entrance. TIP - However, the west side of the library has a shady bamboo patio with alternate entances to the library. Inside the library has two levels. TIP - From the main entrance is the right east corner there is a Friends of the Library with great used book and media deals, nice people. Check out and customer service desk is next on the right. TIP - Past the desk is an amazing media center. Magazines, newspapers, music CDs, movies on DVD or Blu-ray. On this right side there is the children's book area too. TIP - Restrooms are marked down the hallway on the left or west side. There is an Admin area but further is the Media Center and elevator. TIP - The Media Center has been a great resource. It has its own Audio area. Through the main entrance center are stairs up. You'll find the main book stacks here. With a cafe (unknown hours) and a bank inside. Continue forward to exit rear center with sliding glass doors. There are study/eating tables here and outside on the deck. A nice rest area here protected by the ocean breezes. Again from top of stairs, go right 180 past the bank and restrooms are close on your right. The main resource desk is here a little more forward floor center. As well as self serve check out and computerized book and media lookups. This whole floor also has study desks with power and desks with computer stations. See the resource desk to learn more about computer rentals. TIP - The resource desk can get you registered with a library card. The card number and a password gets you on the computers. BiG TIP - There is a great library APP as well to download on your smart phone. Your library user number and password get you logged in to the APP. With the APP you can self serve book renewal extensions and reserve audio books, music other media and more! Very very useful if you like modern digital library services. TIP - 2nd floor south ocean side are a few private study rooms. You need to reserve in advance for study rooms at the resource desk. I've heard there is a room with a scanner on the 2nd floor also. Most questions seem to be handled by the resource desk where nice people can assist. - If you made it this far you can tell this library is quite special to me. The resources, books and staff have been excellent. Bests~

Can you beat a good book, coffee and a stroll through an art garden? Of course you can. But if such simple pleasures suit your fancy, look no further than the Newport Beach Library. Locally roasted Kean coffee and 70 + sunshine for the win.

It's been quite a journey since I first arrived at Newport Beach Library as well as going to a few of the other branches.   AND it's been pretty good they have a nice facility especially the Main Library.   I remember I arrived right before they did the remodeling and open up the back.

Then later they added the computer lab downstairs and made a few changes for the computers upstairs.   in general pretty good atmosphere. I wish the carrels in the upstairs area were a little higher so you didn't have to see other people's faces. I had a few interactions with some staff members that weren't so great when I first arrived. I was still new to Newport Beach and loving the beaches and parks and things and some of them were kind of jaded to how nice Newport Beach is unfortunately. But other staff members were commendable and nice.

And then there's the various patrons: The Good the Bad and the Ugly as they say. And then there was the covid shutdown or slowdown.   Newport Beach stayed open more than most other places which is commendable.   I salute u 4 sticking it out without getting paranoid. Lately I've been using the computers again after  returning from  several months traveling.

And now there's a new employee -I think he's an employee of yours- a little different - I mean he looks like  a male but he wears a skirt and now I guess we're not allowed to say if somebody's a male or female unless they tell us they are but how do you describe a person  otherwise?

He came  around  near the end of the day in the computer lab. But a few days later he was just sitting on a computer using it like a patron and laughing loudly kind of disruptive. Seemed  out of character for an employee so I begin to wonder if he actually is an employee or not. I hope he's not trying to establish the downstairs computer lab as his territory.   You can really feel his/her presence when he/she is there and it's NOT a good vibe

And then some of the faces I remember I haven't seen around in a while so I don't know - maybe they're at the other branches or whatever but then there's a few faces I still remember who've gotten better in some regards. A few  of them originally seemed a bit overbearing - kind of territorial - but now  seem to have gotten a little better.

I use the computers at the library for specific legal, moral, and ethical purposes, and not just fooling around.   Even though if I was just fooling around (ie entertainment)   that would acceptable as well in terms of our value-free culture but I tell you just to inform anybody who's interested that I'm not  playing around on computers.  I have a Christian Ministry that I take very seriously and that's what I spend most of the time using the computers for.

And I am on sabbatical from my Christian Ministry work I divide my  time between Newport Beach & Palos Verdes. I can't complain (except about gas prices, April 2022.)

I am conservative and disagree with almost everything about Democrat Lefty politics including the California governor and the current person in the White House

The Newport Beach Library is one of the jewels of the city. Pre-COVID they offered tons of children's activities and have a giant children's book section. The adult section is expansive and the staff is always super helpful.

Fantastic library. Very large with an extensive collection of books. I appreciate their (relatively) late opening hours and lots of seating space. I have never had an issue finding a desk or armchair to sit in. The internet is strong, the staff is helpful, and there are several other services and amenities available such as printing, scanning, and private study rooms. All in all, it is everything you want from a public library and much more!

This is one of the best libraries I've been to, especially since Newport Beach isn't a large city. It has lots of space and lots of books. Since the rise of the internet Libraries have become more about being quiet study or work spaces, and this library works perfectly for that. It has good AC, a cafe, indoor and outdoor seats. If only there were more comfy chairs it would be so much better. But it deserves five stars for having all the facilities necessary and a variety of spaces to work in.

Don't let the word "public" fool you. This branch is NOT part of the OC Public Library and is strictly for the "posh" people of Newport Beach. My library card from 11 miles away was not accepted here. The women upstairs were very helpful. However, the individual at the front treated us like we were not welcome. This library is clearly here for profit, not for public. I won't be returning. I'll remain on the other side of the tracks.

Clean, quiet and great to be at if you need to read or study. Wide array of books on display and staff is helpful to find media that you're looking for. The cafe looks nice but didn't get a chance to get something. Maybe next time.

The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and professional. The atmosphere is very professional and quiet. Perhaps the best library I have ever visited. The grounds and building clean, quiet with an outstanding view. I LOVE THIS PLACE!

A great library for a smaller city, relatively speaking, with the look and availability of a moderately larger city library!
Being this library is connected to the City Hall - Civic Center Complex, it benefits the attractive architectural and landscape esthetics.
The same parking structure may also be used, if not with the open, west side parking lot.

Excellent with everything; a Light in the local community and OC as a whole. People and staff are very friendly, patient, and always willing to help. A lot of computers for the public to use. Really a great place for the poor and homeless too with computers to use.
