Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort & Marina reviews
13I really enjoyed this place. Had never been here before. Never knew anything about it. We did the water gym thing and it was tons of fun. Would love to come back but be better prepared with either some barbecue stuff or an ez up, and maybe some bikes.
This place ok, way to crowded for my taste. But cool never the less. Plenty of socializing for the kiddos. Fun activities. The water park was $15.00 an hour per person and it was so full of algae you could not enjoy it. There was to much noise from the pch and the planes overhead suck.
Restrooms and showers were terrible not clean no ventilation was hot and steamy floors were wet
Nice location, huge rv park, but a bit tight, the neighbor is way too close and it was way too crowed, and over priced.
We stayed at the RV park for the first time and enjoyed our short stay very much. The staff is friendly and helpful. Love the bay, the paddle boarding, and the grandkids enjoyed the inflatable water park.
We stayed the entire month of August and loved it! All of the employees were very nice, the accommodations/park were well taken care of and the amenities were all clean and fun - even the laundry wasn't so bad (lol). For folks complaining about the "space and crowds" - the park was built before we invented "Monster RV's" - they do their best to accommodate. Of course it can get crowded but that's what makes it fun. Watch out for kids speeding on E-bikes (this was a bummer, where are the parents?). Also, I' was reminded that not everyone picks up after their dogs BUT that's not the park's fault. Overall it was a great time in a nice resort with some incredible weather!
The water obstacle course is very fun but in the dome with holes that you climb on top of, the water has so much seaweed and it is discusting.
I tried to book a cabana and called on Tuesday because online it said nothing was available for Saturday but to call and check. The person on the phone said she saw 3 cabanas still available and to email her manager. I emailed the manager right away on Tuesday morning as I'm trying to solidify plans with my family for Saturday. As of Wednesday afternoon, I still had not heard back from the manager. I called again and she said that the manager would get back to me by Friday the latest. Why would I wait until Friday to find out if I can book a cabana for Saturday? How does that make any sense? No thank you.
Great location for camping. Went here for the water park and that's when I began to question Newport dunes health standards. The bay where every is had two drains in the swimming area and the water had a just unhealthy look.
Then came the massive line to get out because you pay for parking when you leave.
For the prices and hassles with parking unclean water it just isn't worth it to me.
You can go to Newport Beach be a lot further from any drains and the water is much cleaner looking, you will pay less and the beach is a lot nice. A ton of small broken shells litter this beach.
Didn't stay in the rooms no idea if they are nice or not
We only come here to use the water park. Reservations can now be made in advance, and we recommend doing so! The water park is A LOT of fun. It's physically demanding and everyone will sleep well that night!
We have visited for the movies on the beach several times this summer but not sure if we will continue. Every night is the same, the inflatable waterpark closes around 5 and then the “big kids” start going on it after hours. Security repeatedly yells at them to get off, they scream obscenities and run at top speeds through beach sites to escape. Eventually security gives up and the kids take over the beach. It’s really disgusting behavior to witness and quite unpleasant when we just want to enjoy our night on the beach. My kids have requested to not go at night anymore because it stresses them out. The place needs to either get adequate security or lose the inflatables which cause all the issues.
Weirdly dirty bay water, tastes horrible, not sure if it’s sanitary to have an inflatable park there during the summer for kids.
This place can be pricey and can get crowded. However, the memories are priceless. Most people are really friendly, the services are great. Since it's so close to Balboa and Fashion Island, great dining and shopping are available. The convenience store on site has a good selection of gear, snack, and toys. The pool is fantastic, the bay is nice, and the attached bistro is a great place for a bite to eat.
Overall, love this place. Only criticism is that some drivers are impatient and drive by way too fast or aggressively. But that's no real fault of the resort.
