Next-Gen Games reviews
29Huge demo library/games for sale, lots of tables to play games, friendly staff, and competitively priced (many games were cheaper than Amazon!). Easily the best board game store in Los Angeles.
Overall one of the more organized and professional mtg and pokemon shops.they also have live mtg battles on Fridays. On Pico and Hauser.
I've been coming to Next-Gen for years, covering 3 different location moves. My primary reason for my repeated business is due to friendly staff, and a rather close-knit community of players who have also followed the store through its various location changes.
I have also recently found and dusted off my old Super Famicom, multitap, and SNES cartridge converter so I'll be browsing their rather extensive used video game section more closely in the near future as well.
I am unfortunately not familiar with any Tabletop RPGs so I can't speak to those events with any first-hand experience, but from my time playing Magic at the store I'm sure those events and communities are just as warm and welcoming.
I really like this little shop! They're really nice and really like taking about magic the gathering. Always get my preorders here. They have really good deals sometimes! I've had weird experiences at games ships before but never here. Do recommend it if you're nervous about going into a place because you're worried about having a weird experience!
They had so much more than I was expecting, especially RPGs. Many game stores now carry lots of board games and Next-Gen is no exception; their selection is very good.
Love this store! They have so many games and the people who work there love games and are happy to give tips regarding their favorites. It's always a pleasure going there for more (board) game fun. We've certainly increased our collection of board games tremendously since living here and discovering Next-Gen Games. Highly recommended.
Has lots of board games to choose from. 40k, AoS, and other GW games, along with old school video games and consoles. You can also order things online for pickup.
Friendly staff, and they also have a small community of tabletop wargamers on Facebook!
Nice clean modern store. Quite a large game selection. Friendly service. Parking was a bit small but there was no problem during Covid.
They had a decent selection of games but when I asked about magic the gathering all they showed me was rival packs instead of trying to get the most out of the experience and offering me more items or other ways to make a deck and one of the workers were acting a bit too high and mighty for a service worker.
In a world today where the internet and conventions have drove away the neighborhood brick and mortar retail stores, it's nice to see a place like Cards & Comics Central exist.
Super nice staff, they will help you with anything and they have sample games you can test if you want.
Great board game selection, they pretty much have everything. The staff is super helpful, one guy sat down with us and showed us how to play a game he recommended. They have demo copies of most popular games and you can go in and play them on Wednesday nights. Prices are probably higher than if you ordered online but you won't feel guilty supporting this shop, they really care about what they do.
Wow this place is great! A great selection of all kinds of games, especially board games! And from the looks of it, reasonable prices. Kudos Next-Gen!
Very friendly and helpful staff. Reasonably priced products as compared to many of the other gaming shops. Highly recommended.
Very cool card shop. They host leagues and tournaments for various trading card games. The staff was awesome and welcoming to new people.
Great game store. Lots of Magic and other CCGs, lots of back stock, table top role playing games galore, Warhammer and other miniatures, sourcebooks, other board games, toys and other collectible miniatures, dice, card boxes, penny sleeves, it goes on and on. Also, lots of tables so you can hang out and play with your friends there. I highly recommend. Also, lots of online ordering and special requests a okay
Went to 3 different retro game stores in the DTLA area and this by far was my favorite to see. They have a ton of collection of retro games, board games, and collectible merchandise. I did not come out empty handed for sure.
I support my Friendly Local Game Store (FLGS). Great options and cool stuff to be found for gamers of all types and ages. I've personally never sat down to play anything but they have tables available for D&D/wargames/Magic as any self-respecting game store ought to! I pre-order all my D&D books here and plan to continue to do so.
I liked the fact that it had all consoles, past and present with games to go along with it. The downside about it with me is that not all games that you're looking to sell will be taken cause of stock, which I think is kinda dumb. At best they'll give you a small amount of cash and store credit.
A great place for my board games and supplies. The employees are very knowledgeable and aren't trying to force you to walk out with a product. But their products are so well priced that you might as well pick up something while you're there.
