We were at Nick & G's the night before Valentines day and as always, had another fantastic experience. We usually sit outside weather permitting, which it wasn't so it was a first for us inside.
We sat next to a cozy fireplace and as an artist I appreciated the interior decor. Ally was our server for the evening. She was attentive, personable, and knowledgable with the menu. We had to chuckle when she suggested a couple of the dishes we already love. We always have the prawns and brussel sprouts, & both are to die for. Finally, we always appreciate that fact that while we only make in every once in awhile, Jacob, our débarrasseur, always goes out of his way to say hello and make sure we are comfortable and have everything we need. Looking forward to making it back soon to one of our local favs! <3

I had the risotto and it was extremely tasty. The portions are a little bit small but probably what you would expect in one of the fancy. Places like this one is. Great taste. Great atmosphere and good food. Worth the price

We celebrated our 30th anniversary tonight at Nick &G and we had the most amazing experience. All the way from the general manger Jake to our server Amelia. Wow! Just an absolute pleasure to dine here. You will be in for a treat, first class meal and service experience.

Great atmosphere and live music. The food can be improved. I ordered the steak medium. I got a raw steak with cold risotto, undercooked broccoli and no steak knife. The Salmon dish wasn't crispy as advertised. The pastas were ok. Come here for the music, drinks and dessert; skip dinner menu.

Very poor slow service with hardly anybody in the restaurant, very overpriced food that does not taste anything special.

It felt like we were driving through the neighborhood in Rancho Santa Fe but when we reached the restaurant it was super cute. We were a group of 8 and we had requested outside seating. While they have a cute and cozy little patio, we were given a table kind of far down the side walk, by the intersection. The hostess was not friendly when I asked about alternate seating, maybe inside the restaurant. But then a minute later when my friend asked again, we were given the perfect corner seating inside the restaurant. And from that moment on, the whole experience was absolutely wonderful. We had the best service I have ever experienced. Our server was super friendly, attentive and most helpful. The spicy Rancho margarita, flower child and barrel aged Manhattan were all delicious. The bell pepper and goat cheese flatbread, crispy Brussels sprouts and fried calamari steak were yummy! And so were all our salads/entrees… antipasto salad, Belgian endive and Asian pear, the filet mignon, sea bass (fresh catch), chicken Alfredo without chicken, soup of the day. The restaurant was very accommodating of vegetarian diets and were willing to make certain menu items vegetarian. We were celebrating two milestone birthdays and they brought out free desserts with candles on top of what we ordered. Yummiest crème brûlée and bread pudding and carrot cake and brownies. What a wonderful evening it was! This restaurant is a great find and we will definitely visit again.

Food was excellent and so were the drinks. Relaxed but polished setting and would be more than happy to come back!

Looking for an upscale date night destination? Well Nick & G’s is worthy of your consideration. The food was good, as was the ambiance and service. @nickandgs typically offers live music on Saturday nights, so plan accordingly if that appeals to you.

Our Review Team had only positives to share about their “Meatballs di Formaggio”appetizer, “Grilled Chicken Alfredo” and “Summer Vegetable Risotto” entrees, and “Profiteroles” and “Butterscotch Bread Pudding” desserts. While our meals weren’t inexpensive, our final bill was less than expected. Although this portion of Rancho Santa Fe is quite conducive to strolling with your someone special, keep in mind that RSF tends to roll up their sidewalks pretty early so factor that into your plans. And that’s…Henry’s Take. @henrystake

Excellent dinner experience! They have a beautifully equipped, small patio to feel the night breeze. Lamb and scallop dishes were amazing as well as service. Even though we dined literary 5 mins before closing time, they took care of us wonderfully. Highly recommended.

I live in the area and have given at Nick and G's my business many times over the years. It's finally time to give newcomers an honest opinion and provide a general warning to those considering dining there:

It isn't just that the food is absolutely mediocre-it is. It isn't just that the staff makes you feel like they're doing you a favor by serving you food and beverages-they do. And it isn't just that the prices are ridiculously high-they are.

The latest and saddest incident for me was when I was eating the "catch of the day" (absolutely fishy and almost inedible) and found a large piece of plastic in my dish. Yes. Honestly there's better fine dining to be had at most budget fast casual restaurant chains. I honestly don't think the people at Nick and G's care about the experience or their patrons in general. Take your money elsewhere and get a much better experience.

Salty Corporate Chef doesn't understand the industry and uses Hispanic cooks like over used tools

Best Steak in San Diego I’ve ever had! Or it’s, actually in Rancho Santa Fe.definitely a 5 star experience!
I highly recommend this family establishment.

I forgot to add the calamari! Very well made! Honestly this restaurant deserves to be Michelin rated!

For sure a long time customer! Check out my meal!

We waited about 15 minutes to be seated, then another 45 minutes for our food to arrive! Food was a miss, Corned beef was way too fatty and in fact more fat than meat. But the people were nice and accommodating.
