It’s really a great ride from San Francisco or Marin up through West Marin into Marshall which by the way is the home of the family who bears the name of Halle of Halley’s comet) been a little tough through Covid for these guys their staff is amazing their food is a great reflection of the north coast chowder Fish and chips fun stuff like that. We were celebrating our 18th anniversary and out of nowhere pops up this great little desert on the house) beers on tap are very good couple of bartenders really kicking back as mixologist. So when you go there take some pictures inside and go watch an old movie called bandits with Bruce Willis. They film the movie there years ago during a time when NIcks was closed. It had since been revived and it truly is a landmark. Go have fun just hang out the wait staff is fantastic they’re trying really hard to bring things back to normal. I really love the locals there and some of the staff that has to drive in from Sebastopol and other places nearby well within a half hour kind of cool living out in the middle of nowhere overlooking the beautiful Tomales Bay

One of the best fish and chips you can enjoy on the West Coast. Local cod with perfectly crispy batter. It's always worth the drive.

Also excellent: their cioppino & their clam chowder. Definitely come for the seafood.

Order from the takeout window and if the weather is good, eat outside! It's worth it.

If you're not the one driving, their mixed drinks are excellent.

What an amazing place. I’d call this a hidden gem. We stayed in Bandits Bungalow which soooo nice, high spec and situated on the water. Courtney in particular was so helpful and friendly and made our stay extra special. If you’re looking for a relaxing time with good walks and beautiful scenery, this is the place to go.

As we had not been to Nick’s since the beginning of COVID, we were excited to return. However, we were disappointed and surprised…one has to order outside, lumping all items in one order that comes all at once (imagine your dessert being served with your steak/fish dinner).
If you should want a cocktail & have the chance to sip on it leisurely before dinner, it is necessary to order it at the bar, then schlep it to your table. Then plan on ordering dinner when finished (outside, of course).
The tables were sticky, the ambience lacking, flies were plentiful & the atmosphere was uninspired.
While we appreciate the difficulty some places are having hiring help, perhaps a better solution (for customers as well as persons wanting to work), is closing off part of the restaurant, and optimally utilizing the attentive & available wait & service staff you do have.
Needless to say, we are not in any hurry or have any desire to repeat this recent experience.

On our way to Bodega Bay, we stopped and had lunch at Nick'Cove in Marshall Ca. The food was exceptional! My better half had oysters and I had a King Louie Shrimp salad. My salad was a bed of butter lettuce, shrimp, drizzled with sauce, garnished with cucumbers and slices of avocado. Ok, too pretty to eat! Seating inside with a bar or If you have your 4 legged friends with you, seating outside is available.
I highly suggest you take a drive down CA-1 and Enjoy!

Always a must stop! Excellent service and you can sit indoors or outside.at the end of the dock is a must walk to if you get your drinks as you wait for your food to be ready.
We had the Crab Mac n Cheese/ Fish Tacos/ Chicken Sandwich and drinks!

I have come to Nick’s for years but Sunday July 24,2022, was my last time. I ordered as usual 12 raw oysters and by Monday I had full blown food poisoning. Watery diarrhea plus fever. That kind of intoxication is called vibrio and can be fetal (As per CDC warnings). I called Nick’s today to report it and the receptionist first tried to reach the manager but “he was busy with other call” so she asked for my number for him to call me back and that was over 3 hours ago and no call back. Due to the fact that such contamination can be lethal and that the manager doesn’t care is that I’m writing this review in hopes to warm other customers that all precautions must be followed before risking eating raw oysters. I don’t wish this illness to anyone.

Seafood at its best but you are not limited to just that. Menu has burgers, chicken and other dishes. Located in Marshall CA, Nick’s Cove also has cottages for rent and they are right on Tomales Bay. Marshall, CA is one of those places that are not over commercialized and unpolluted, the way nature is supposed to be.

Absolutely 5 stars and more if I could give it. A perfect, quiet and serene stay right on Tomales Bay. I cannot speak highly enough of the friendly and helpful attitude of the front desk and all the folks working hard to keep this place as beautiful as it is. Our room, the Red Legged Frog was delightfully CLEAN and well-appointed.

The restaurant and bar were superb with both food and service.

A little slice of nirvana and we will be back soon!

I recently stopped by this restaurant and it was a excellent experience. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The food was delicious. I ordered mine to go and it was very nice to see my food was made to order. It was very flavorful and appetizing. There was outdoor and indoor seating right on the water. Great experience, will be back soon

Beautiful views for dining and lodging. The food and restaurant have gone downhill dramatically. Burger was over cooked, bbq oysters weren’t mediocre; and salad overdressed. It’s now “fast causal” which would be fine if the food was still good.

Used to be a legendary spot, now I’d give it a solid pass.

We arrived after the kitchen was closed, they where still able to provide us with a salad and the cooks stil made us chicken to add to our salad. We also enjoyed their Oysters. Loved how kid friendly the place was.

What a wonderful find, tucked away on the bay coast! Fresh and fabulous oysters with mignonette that packs a punch, hot creamy (and stuffed with crab) Crab Mac n Cheese, fresh and spicy tuna poke, and the best fish n chips on the west coast - huge fish portions with a light, crispy batter. I definitely recommend the walk down the dock to the shack, it's the best place to enjoy your meal with a view. Bring your own bottle of wine, Nick's can be pricey. I recommend a crisp white or a fruity rose!

This used to be our go to spot on the coast. Now they have downgraded. Order from the reception stand and pick up the food yourself. Although we ordered appetizers (oysters), chowder, and dessert, it all came at once. The chowder was not warm. I had to pretend it was vichyssoise. Still a nice location but not what it was.

A restaurant by a seaside village - what's not to like. The location is great. Beautiful setting. Just like a storybook. Great bar. Nice staff. The crowd was older, but the younger ladies that visited were pretty. Overall, a relaxed place. Excellent view from the restaurant, but even better views from the outside. The food was not remarkable but there was nothing wrong with it. Maybe it's because you have to counter order your food and pick it up yourself. For me, I feel like the vintage setting begs for a table waitress or someone to assist you. I don't prefer to feel like I am at a cafeteria at such an idyllic place. If my friend hadn't told us how to order and what to order, I would have sat there without service for a while. Yet, I recommend it as a place to visit. Excellent location with much privacy but a bit out of the way. Definitely a place I might sneak off to for a romantic weekend getaway as they have tiny cottages for rent.

My fiancé and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our stay! The food was delicious! Our cottage was perfect in every way! Plus the service and people were super friendly - we will be back for sure:)

OMG! The oyster platter for 70 dollars! Absolutely no ambiance, portions were very small. The French fries were cold and hard. The clam chowder had way too much celery. This was not the Nick's I remember, the solid wall that separate the " dining" area had not a hint of cooking aroma. Very disappointing. I truly hope that you will go back to fine dining I really can't believe your this place is 4 star rated you might as well be serving food on paper plates and plastic ware gotta let friends know stop at William Tells cause you guys are in the fast food business

Nice spot, beautiful view. Food is okay-expensive for what it is, especially when ordering at a window.

Given that this is window/counter serve, I expect that it would be pretty easy to at least get the orders right. However, last visit they forgot about my food order completely, and this time they shorted me on oysters and gave me the wrong beer.

I hope to come back some day and have a better food experience, because it sure is in a nice location.

This was pretty much one of the only places open in the middle of the city. The food options are limited if you don't eat meat, but their Mac and cheese is pretty good. Portion sizes are small for what they cost, and the flavor is a tad bland. But it's a warm environment and a good dining space with a view of the sea. The dock seating outside is pretty good too.
