The nuns and their order are so kind. Try their cheese and support the chapel through their gift shop or donations. What strikes me most when visiting was the honesty and strength of their spirit. Being blessed by them was a wonderful experience as much as their prayers enrich my faith.

This was the most loving and inspiring visit I could have asked for. We are making plans to return in a few months. Thank you Sisters. You made my visit so tremendously special.

Very prayerful sisters live here. I am very grateful for their presence and the gift that they are to Jesus and to the Church.

As a volunteer at the Tehachapi Visitor’s center, we often encourage people to take a drive out to the monastery, so I had to see what it was all about. There are private grounds, but if you stay to the right off water canyon campground, there is parking for visitors where you can get out and walk around. There are a few cute cabins, a pond, and a small chappel and gift shop. There are nuns working in gardens, tending to the dogs and chickens. My favorite part was speaking with one of the nuns at the gift shop and they have a small refrigerator where they sell some homemade cheese. There are also homemade jams and gifts.

Much of the grounds are constantly being maintained and there are a few shipping containers that are used for storage but overall it’s a peaceful place to stop.

The experience was calming, in a world of stressors this experience gave me the reset I needed for the week. Also, the small gift shop with products like cheese, jams and jellies, biscotti, macaroons and sablès was worth the trip as well. You do not have to be Catholic to enjoy the peaceful and spiritual experience.

Peaceful, beautiful in white snow, with friendly and polite sisters, a loving kitty cat, and hand made cheese.

A very lovely monastery with a public accessible chapel and gift shop loaded with goodies! I highly recommend the homemade goats milk cheese and the almond macaroon cookies. They are simply delicious, healthy and made with love.
Very peaceful and serene location in the Tehachapi mountains.
NOTE!
Water Canyon Road on the way to the Priory can be sketchy when there is snow or ice present. Drive with extreme caution!
