North Bay Jiu Jitsu, Novato CA

This school is great. I trained a couple of days with them while visiting from New York. Everyone was super welcoming and helpful. Tryfon was awesome—he stayed after class to go over technique and help me after rolling. I really appreciated how generous he was with his time and insight. I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m in town.

The best jiu jitsu spot in the north bay area. If you live in Novato I would be sure to train here. The kids jiu jitsu progam is excellent.

North Bay Jiu Jitsu is one of the best places to train Jiu Jitsu in the SF bay area. The head coach, Tryphon, is an excellent instructor. He is super humble even though he's done very well in competition. You can tell that he "lives and breaths" Jiu Jitsu. Even though I'm only a brown belt he'll ask me about what I'm doing which leads into long discussions about strategies and techniques and the history of it all. He's full of all kinds of stories about times he's trained with and learned from legends of Jiu Jitsu. He received his black belt from Eduardo Rocha who is a legendary 5X world champion. If you have the chances of training with Tryphon I wouldn't pass it up because he has his own unique style. There's been many high level competitors that have come out of this academy.
