North Lykken Trailhead reviews
11Incredible trail. Incredible views. Steep and challenging but beautiful. Worth the effort if you can make it. This is a definitely recommend for all the hikers out there. Go and enjoy!
I love this fast trail. It has a good climb in the beginning but is more even in the middle.
1st time visit
Did dry run to see the location, topography and elevation gain of the trail
The trailhead is located at the end of
of West Ramon Road
It is located within a residential neighborhood
Parking is available on the Northside side of street only
The trail is rated as Moderate to Strenuous
While it is easily accessible and close to downtown Palm Springs it is best to start on this trail very early in the morning (6 a.m.) or later in the afternoon (5 p.m)
In order to avoid the heat
There is no shade
Water is highly recommended
Appropriate clothing for hiking
Otherwise, the best time of the year to hike North Lykken Trail would be Spring or Winter
This is solely my opinion
A really nice mid level hike that has great views of palm springs and some wildlife! There are a lot of switch backs and some moderate inclines but it seems pretty doable for an average hiker. We did not do the loop as that was 10miles. We just did a down and back.
Hiking at this trail was absolutely breathtaking. You can see how beautiful the desert is from up there. It was a very nice experience and I will definitely go back soon
A moderately difficult ascent from the Ramon trail head led to beautiful views and some longhorned goat sightings. But the descent behind the Museum was considerably more difficult and less enjoyable, even for the more experienced hikers.
I miss this hike! I moved to Sedona, AZ and haven't been back to Palm Springs. However, lots of good hikes in Sedona as well.
This is a great hike right in the core area of downtown Palm Springs. The views of the valley are awesome, especially at night during a full moon!
Pretty rough trail. So wear some good footwear. Especially steep from Museum up or down.
I did it from the North Lykken Trail head north to the museum which is a good way in the morning or afternoon sun
Very very sad that this trail and others have been closed to dogs. Does not make any sense! We have picked up so much trash that is human related. But of course the dogs and their humans have to pay. Pathetic.
