Oakland Public Library: Rockridge Branch

The librarians here are always so helpful and kind to me and my daughter. A chill, safe place to hang out and read!

Stay away from this library if you want a quiet place to study or do some work. It's REALLY loud (people talking and laughing loudly including the library staff, children crying and yelling, and all kinds of noise). Using headphones does not help. Even the "quiet study area" is loud. It does not help that the quiet area is on the second floor above the main entrance and it's right next to the elevator which is annoyingly loud. There is a parking lot but you have to pay to park until 6pm ($2/hour). There are signs inside the library saying to keep an eye on your belongings because there have been thefts in the library. I stopped by this library because it was nearby but I don't plan to return. If you are able to, I highly recommend going to another library.

I earned a 5.0 gpa this past summer by studying and completing my finals at this library. The staff and security are the best. Depending on the day or hour, it can get a bit noisy, but that's mostly and only because new-age parents haven't taught their children about how and when to use their library voice once they enter those doors. This has been the same for some adults as well. The children I get but the adults come in like it's a Starbucks or Parent Teacher Night at their school. This has been the norm at most of the libraries I've visited this year. Oh well- what can ya do? Noise cancelling headphones are the best.

Everyone was nice, helpful, and had patience with the little ones. A wide selection of books. Quick holds processing. Great place to go!

Great place. Staff is always helpful. Space is brightly lit and the shelves are well maintained.

Great place to bring your family and friends together and enjoy reading your books

It was the first day the public could enter and browse. There is a two step process to enter. First, your temperature is taken, next sanitize your hands, keep your mask on. It was a joyous day.
