Great place to go very friendly staff and the gondola is by far the smoothest one I've rode.

Nice experience. Kids will enjoy the rides and also some learning. Rides have to bought separately except the California trail Gondola which is included in the entry ticket.

I love this zoo. It's kind of old-fashioned, but it has big exhibits and the animals appear well-cared for. The new gondolas is really fun and there's a terrific big playground at the top level. Great views, too. I love the diversity of the families you see. Minuses are some older steep and bumpy paths that are hard for strollers or wheelchairs, and stupidly high prices at the Cafe.

Tag a long so didnt pay with family pass. Friend said having kids, this was a great place to spend family time. I agree with her. Wide open space among trees. Favorites: gondola up to the top. They actually allow wheelchairs and strollers. Before view of sky line of sf and oakland and bay area. Jaguar didnt want to eat. Eagles watching it perch near the top of trees with wings open. Different monkeys. Baboon with red toush grooming themselves. Elphant with tusk eating. Otters. Turtles. Zebras. Giraffe. Warhogs. Stork Snake and bugs. Teenage interpreter released a daddy long leg. Flamingos. This is a great place. Appreciate the forefathers who saved this beautiful space. Kiddie rides and train rides through Africa to see kangeroos. I think adults secretly enjoy more than children. Also dipping dots, popcorn, cola-what more do you need? Get out there and get some exercise with your kids.

Top notch place! Significantly more larger and more fun than the San Francisco zoo. The free Gondola ride is absolutely fantastic! The place literally located on a hill.so you get to see some stellar view of Oakland and San Francisco skyline in the distance. If you have kids, a membership is recommended.easily worth it!

Though the notion of keeping animals in captivity for the benefit of human spectators is controversial, many U. S.zoos are accredited by independent organizations and have shown a commitment to animal conservation.

Amazing family fun day. My son has Autism and it is so hard to make sure he enjoys his birthday Oakland Zoo will continue to be somewhere we go as a family to celebrate.

After bought the membership many months ago, haven’t been able to visit even once. They leave very limited spots for members to reserve each day, but always sold out

The Oakland Zoo is magnificent! I love its welcoming, friendly atmosphere. Local brews in the Landing Cafe, a wonderful and walkable place. Makes SF Zoo look like a Soviet-era sadness factory.

It is definitely better than the SF Zoo, but not even remotely close to the San Diego or Los Angeles Zoos. It definitely didn't have a lot of kids fun stuff and the rides are quite costly to be honest (after paying for zoo entry, the train cost $6 a person!) There was only one restaurant open, which was unfortunate. It was a decent experience but not nice enough to return again.

The enclosures are nice and there is an app to order food in advance at any booth. Rides for the kids that are outside the zoo so you dont need to pay to get into the zoo if all your kids want to do is go on the rides. The layout though isn't that intuitive it's a lot of dead ends and back tracking. We got there 30m after opening on a Saturday and parking was spilling over already. Due to the backtracking we easily spent the day until close at 4 and didn't get to all the things in the zoo.

The fun experience of seeing animals was nulled by the constant bothering of my disability. I have a service dog and have brought her to the zoo before multiple times and I bring her so many places that are high end, and have never been bothered so much. I have her papers but I was harassed by 6 workers on my service dog and even told I can't go to some places by one of them, which wasn't true. I was asked multiple times what she does (which is fine) and I was even asked by one to see her papers, which I showed to not have any complications, but that's not exactly legal. I don't know why they were so bothersome. Needless to say, it caused me a lot of anxiety, thinking every worker was going to bother me about my service dog. This zoo isn't disability friendly. They seemed prejudice and rude.

I was even asked if they allowed me in with a service dog when I was all the way at the end as if I somehow sneaked in my dog the whole time! It doesn't make any sense.

My service dog was extremely well behaved. She didn't once react to any animal and did her job well.

They are very disorganized. They didn't have separate lines for people buying tickets and those who already did. They just didn't communicate with each other at all. Lots of confusion going on.

Otherwise, the zoo itself is actually nice and has a lot of animals and things to see. It has rides and snacks but there's no food. So please bring your own food if you're planning on staying all day.

We took our grand children and had a blast. Reservations are needed.
Lots of walking and playing in the children's area. So much fun.
