Ocean Beach Hotel, San Diego CA

Super clean, great rooms, right next to the beach and had a wonderful view. I loved my stay here!

This place smelled like mold and wet dog. We asked led to change rooms and they did, but the next one smelled worse. They didn't have another one available so we cancelled. They gave a full refund

Me and my wife stayed here a little over a year ago. Sorry for taking so long.
We’re from down south and it was my first time in California. We rented the room closest to the beach on the right. The view was beautiful every day. The room was just what we wanted. Every thing you might need is in walking distance. Also the pop up farmers market was an added bonus. Also the staff was great and super helpful and friendly. The homeless were not even a problem. I even got to know a few of them. They didn’t want anything from me. All in all this Hotel is solid all around.

I want to keep this place a secret spot because of my love for this place. So everyone stay away. Its amazing and the staff at the desk is also. I lost my telephone and he found it. 5 stars and the balcony is amazing. The rooms with a balcony are a must.

Such a cute and convenient hotel right off the beach, great food and coffee nearby as well as the pier.

Myself & my girlfriend recently stayed the night here at Ocean Bean Hotel. First off called the front desk and was greeted by Kirk, I was just calling to know the parking situation and without asking he said we check in at 3 but we can have you in by 2 if you were looking to get here a little early. Which was nice of him to offer. On day of check-in, we did get there early, parking was a little tight but not an issue. I cant remember his name, I believe it was Andrew who check us in at 2: 30. Friendly, accommodating, and even gave us some great recommendations for food later that evening. The rooms themselves are clean. Bed was made nicely, and everything you would except from a hotel was provided in room. Now its a hotel on the beach, so you can escape humidity so if the floors feel damp, that's why. Its a gorgeous area with a nice outdoor common area with a fantastic view of the beach. Check out was easy enough, even asked if I could pay for additional time on parking outside of what is already included when staying at OB Hotels. The nice lady named Ester told me our pass was good till 1, which was great. We didn't feel like we had to rush out of there, instead me and my lady went to get breakfast, did a little shopping and walked along the beach. Now one thing I would like to note, I am a forgetful person and I did leave an item there that was rather costly. Not knowing at the time if I had left it there, I called the front desk and was greeted by Ester who said she would check the room I stayed in and to give her call back. 15 minuets later called back and Kirk answered, he was well aware and had them item at the front desk. Now I live 2 hours away and was already home by the time I had noticed. The fact that they took the time to look and even hold it ready for me is A+ service. Coming from a field of service in managing weddings in my past, this is what I love to see. Thank you Ocean Beach for making our anniversary a lovely one. We will be returning:)

The staff is great view is perfect Guest we nice with the exception of two guys who were very loud on the patio late at night We parked our car and walked everywhere my only suggestion is being able to check out one of those fly swipers to help keep the big bee away from you

Avoid this place at all costs! I pulled into hotel to park because I was going to see if there was any available rooms for the night because I wanted to surprise my boyfriend with a weekend by the beach. I pulled in and I was going to put in an order for food at the place next door and go to the bathroom, so it would be ready by the time I could check in. I looked and the line was long so I went back to see about the room and there was a boot on my car. I went in mad and explained that to the people at the front desk, he lied and said security did it, and he lied and said someone would come take care of it. I was just going to pay and get out of there. I told them I would not be staying there and leaving there and leaving a review, he said that I could now only pay cash after he was about to accept my card. He then pulled out a sign saying that they only accepted cash. A lot of misinformation and lies being told. I recorded the interaction and the guy told me if I kept recording, he wouldn't take the boot off after I paid! I wanted to make sure my car wasn't damaged because of them. He was aggressive and I was honestly scared. I guess you can only park there if you have already paid for a room and not to inquire. This business is run by aggressive, lying, extortionists. Steer clear!

I paid money to park here. This guy sucks. He pretends to not have any relation to the owners, but likes to boot cars for no reason. We were over our time limit by 2 minutes and this dude boots our car. Place looks like it has bed bugs.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! ABSOLUTE SCAM OF A HOTEL!

The manager needs to take better ownership of their hotel as this place is absolutely failing with Kirk working the front desk.

The parking was an absolute scam. Paid cash and was told we were allowed to park here for 4 hours but within the 4 hour time limit my car was booted and had to pay more cash to take the boot off. Kirk pocketed the cash from taking the boot off the car. We saw him do the same to another family. Very disappointing!

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL! I was harassed by the maintenance man, I was called a liar by the lady with red hair…. I used to stay at this hotel often and never had a problem, until tonight. The maintenance man followed me to the pier, then followed me back. He knocked on my door for 30 minutes and I didn’t answer. I went downstairs to talk to management and I was told “you’re a liar” by the front desk lady with short red hair.
Im a 25 year old female. Im scared to stay here.
I asked for a refund and she told me “go back to your room”.

I asked for the manager and she said “I don’t have his number”
My lock doesn’t work on my door and neither does the phone.

I hope the owner sees this. I used to love coming here but I feel absolutely unsafe and I would like a refund.

Very nice beach. The authorities try there best to clean up the homeless but other then that it was nice.

Rooms were tiny and the bathroom was as well. BUT, you can't beat this location! Also, the on-site laundry is a huge plus.

If your primary goal is to stay at a hotel that looks right at the ocean, then THIS is your hotel! Everything else will fall in to place.

Check-in staff was very friendly and plenty of parking if brining a vehicle.

They have these amazing open areas with chairs and tables that look right at the ocean, so you can enjoy java -or liquor- while checking out people attempting to surf out on the water.

We stayed her last week and had a great visit to Ocean Beach. This hotel was great - the manager that helped the new employee check us in was fabulous. I feel terrible I don't remember their names. The room was clean, bed was comfy, the location is the best! Every restaurant and bar we went to the people were welcoming and great to chat with. I highly recommend!
Yes there are homeless in the area but NEVER once felt threatened - a few of them had great music by the beach and were super fun for people watching:)

Place has bed bugs terrible management.

Avoid this place no refunds when you find bed bugs terrible management.

There's a better place right up the street for cheaper and cleaner would suggest there. Don't waste your money.

The person replying to the bad reviews is someone they hire to do that because they get so many. In reality they give no refund or compensation. Total lies from the reply just making sure everyone knows. You notify them of problems and they basically tell you they don't care and to get out of our town. Place is not clean avoid this disaster better off camping out in the alleyway then booking here.
