There’s a farmers market every Wednesday right next door yet somehow this local grocery store can’t find a supplier of dates. It”s $8 for a 12oz plastic box of dates. You can get 20lbs of organic pitted dates on amazon for $20. They have no alternative milk for under $5. A can of black beans cost $3. A box of pasta costs $5. Bulk beans and legumes are too expensive. No realistic affordable vegan protein powder options in bulk or on the shelves, not even hemp or soy protein. Everything else is great. All vegetarian. With an all vegan deli. But it’s impossible to save money or buy bulk realistically here. They want to be a grocery store but they ended up being a novelty convenience store designed to get you to impulse buy junk food and become addicted and come back for that craving. Not good if shopping with EBT or for shopping with a monthly budget. It’s a grocery store for rich people that they put in the middle of a homeless area. The staff are really friendly though.

Easily the best co-op grocery store you or I have ever been to. Just trust me. Worth the membership and the staff is great.

Fresh made foods upstairs, some made without gluten ingredients. Lots of interesting natural food and other natural products. Reasonable prices. Has it's own parking.

This is a community favorite. The cafe upstairs is all vegan options so it’s a convenient choice for most diet restrictions. They sometimes are hit and miss on gluten free options if that is you goal.

It's one of my favorite places for salads. It's a little too much oil, but it's still good.

Came here for flax oil. This oil you have to refrigerate. I am trying to get nutrition facts to respond to me about the nutrition of this oil.

Never a bad experience. I belong to the Co Op. If you’re health conscious, vegan, or vegetarian and live in the neighborhood, pay the $15 a year to get all the perks. The people who work there are always very nice and helpful. They don’t sell any meat products, so there’s no nasty fish smell or loads of death for sale like other stores. My husband loves the vegan baked goods they make there. I love the deli as well. You can request a sample of the food, so you don’t buy something you don’t like. The only place in town you can get ready-to-go healthy vegan meals and have a fresh cold pressed juice, with a dessert, while you shop for groceries.

Produce is delicious and local grown. It's so about community and kindness. Grateful it's only a 4 block walk.

Enjoy their selections on a little bit of everything. I wish their soup would sell half off once you only get the liquid only towards the end of the soup barrel. Love that they have raw milk options

Used to LOVE People's. Now, the produce prices are outrageous and, sadly, their deli is subpar. Once upon a time I would drive out to OB just to eat there. Now, you're lucky if the hot bar has one dish that is not a carb. The last time I was there, every dish was rice except the mac n cheese. I get that times are hard, and carbs being heavy are profitable when you're paying by the pound, but it's still disappointing. Also, how in this day and age they can they put out 10 desserts and not have one that is gluten- and sugar-free seems oblivious. Come on, people. Or, rather, People's. It's not that hard. You used to be great. What a fall from grace.

The soups are still a decent value and most of the green salads, when they have them, are actually wonderful.

Best natural foods market I've ever visited. We've been members for more than three decades. Go upstairs and get something at the deli, or a cup of coffee and muffin. Superb vibe, excellent variety of choices. If you want meat, go elsewhere; we don't need it. This is my favorite grocery store in California.

The one stop shop in OB to get all the best natural/organic ingredients you need. Fresh local water and produce, as well as a yummy vegan bakery upstairs!

Great produce, plenty of organic food. Don't miss the deli upstairs with prepared vegan main dishes and a variety of salads. Also sandwiches to order.

Lovely little grocery store with everything you.could possibly need. The fresh, organic produce and the bulk section are the best parts for sure: no plastic! It's also a great spot for a snack or meal from there upstairs deli with lots of fresh pastries, salads, hot meals, juices, and desserts. I wish I lived closer so I could shop here more!
