Ocean Surf Inn and Suites, Sunset Beach CA

This motel was close to the beach, and has updated bathrooms.

However, the walls are very thin, and at 7am the front desk staff started playing loud music. It is inconsiderate, since some guests may want to sleep in due to jet lag or just because they are on vacation.

The staff will not allow guests to serve themselves breakfast, in order to ensure guests do not take as much as they want. There are signs in the breakfast area advising guests there is a limited amount of food and to leave food for other guests. It is uncomfortable, and it does not feel like a generous breakfast at all.

This place is such a gold mine! I spent my birthday here and me and my friends loved it. Nothing too fancy, but perfect if you’re young and on a budget like me. I’m super lazy, so when the reviewers said the beach was so close to the hotel I was skeptical. They were right. I kid you not, it was less than a 4 minute slow walk! A beautiful and quiet beach, too! It’s also pretty close to Huntington if you prefer that scene. Nice staff here as well.

Another cool thing about this place was the rooftop. We really liked it! It was chill and had a decent view. One recommendation though would be to add more lights up there to make it more lively.

The parking was kinda limited, even with the garage. I had to park outside it when I first arrived because it was full. The room was pretty and clean for the most part. One thing I will say though was that we couldn’t walk it barefoot or else our feet would be kinda dirty. Other than that, no complaints.

Overall, I’d recommend this place for a little beach getaway without expecting anything too fancy. I’ll definitely be coming back! (:

Nice clean rooms, a manager who cares about his guests, garage parking and oh yeah ocean view rooms a few yards from the beach.

There is so much I want to say about this stay. I have to say that the rooms are GREAT! The views, well I personally couldn't get enough of. I went during a storm. It was lovely
I didn't get a chance to take a look at the hot tub there but we stayed in the king size ocean view room on the 3rd story.
Let me start off by saying this is NOT the hotel to stay in if you're a smoker. If you enjoy a cigarette late at night, recreational or medicinal Marijuana, this stay is not for you. There is a very strict NO Marijuana rule. They should 100% update this place when it comes to smoking rules. There should be a designated area for smoking (outside). The views from the 4th floor would be a perfect spot to smoke. They do not allow pets either. That, I can understand why. The owner seems to be on site 24/7, but might not be the friendliest. Once he found out I was a reviewer he seemed to change his attitude. May i add, I never told him I was, he knew. Besides him are the other employees that serve breakfast & clean. The breakfast lady is a SWEETHEART! She was my home away from home mom. She made sure I had breakfast & fruits every morning. She was a highlight of our trip. Must go back and see her and the cleaning ladies again. The cleaning ladies were very nice and polite. They never seemed in a bad mood when I passed by them. Overall this is a place to stay if you're looking to stay close to the beach and enjoy the sun

Great location. Awesome memory foam beds, 2 min walk to a great beach. Free parking friendly staff. Will definitely stay here again next time I'm in Socal.

Worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Absolutely disgusting room and terrible service. The General manager threw a fit when I asked for an extra towel and told me he didn't have time to get me one because he had to get breakfast ready. What a joke! The sheets were wet when we got there.

When you're looking for that romantic get away there's no thing better then jacuzzi tubs! Ocean surf inn has got that! Don't wait! Book your get away today!

If you are looking for an eclectic and basic place to stay this is it. Very intriguing floor plan to get to rooms but has a rooftop area to be able to get a glimpse of the ocean. BTW the beach is a short walk across the street and the hotel has chairs and boogie boards in the lobby. Furnishings are sparse but adequate. All in all don’t expect a lot and you will be happy enough. Staff was very friendly and accommodating.

I got in very late. Shaun the General Manager was Amazing! I was lost broke my phone I could go on and on about how I was not a good person to be around. Shaun made me feel comfortable and keep saying you are here now and safe. Oh and by the way the rooms are great and the location is awesome. Thank you Shaun your kindness won't be forgotten.

Stayed there this past weekend and it was amazing! Super clean and spacious! Comfy beds! And they had beach toys we could borrow which we took advantage of!

We stayed here for 5 days it's a 1 minute walk to the beach. The parking spaces are pretty small in the covered parking but other than that it was a great time.

This place is our favorite place to stay.the owners are amazing and friendly. Fantastic Breakfast! Can't wait till our next visit!
