Excellent experience! We saw 3 whales and a few pods of dolphins. Will was phenomenal, interactive and enthusiastic. Would definitely recommend and we would definitely go again!

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to go whale and dolphin watching with William. We had the extraordinary opportunity to go out on a private tour. The boat was special, it was very safe but smaller compared to the large big company boats, giving us the chance to get a close look at the 50+ dolphins that came to play and swim alongside the boat. While William positioned us as best possible to see all available wildlife, we didn't see whales (that is a matter of fate), we saw many dolphins, birds, and a sea lion! William is a professional and knowledgable captain, and an overall very likable person to spend time with out on the water. He even suggested we move up our reservation time to earlier in the day based on the weather - which turned out to be fantastic for us. I'd highly recommend this unique opportunity to get out on the Pacific and see what's there. When we return, we'll be going out with Off the Grid.

Not worth more than $100, You can get scuba certified, rent gear, and go lobster fishing off the cost a bag, and get more lobster than you would on a charter for less than $500.

Will was amazing. The whole experience was so chill. He let me swim off the side of the boat in the middle of the ocean and found 2 schools of dolphin. We brought drinks and snacks and had a whole heck of a fun time

Its been a few weeks, but wanted to ensure I wrote this review and tell Captain Will thanks again for the great trip. First - Will was able to confirm a quick fishing trip on short notice and we agreed to make it work at bit later in the afternoon. We met and after a stop to get bait we were quickly catching fish. Will was informative, helpful and patient with 2 kids and 4 adults on board. We moved a few times to stay in areas where the fish were biting and he also stopped and pointed out countless pods of dolphins. I checked the reviews before booking - and I'm so happy we were able to make it work! Don't overthink this decision - Captain will is the guy you want to go with for a private fishing/dolphin/whale tour. We never felt uncomfortable and his boat had plenty of space for all of us. Oh, and If you book with Will, ask him about the guy with a metal wallet that ended up at the bottom of the ocean.

Will was a great host & captain! We had such a wonderful Sunset boat trip. I will 100% book something else with Will's company. That was amazing!

Captain William is absolutely great! He knows the place where we can catch sight of marine life and take amazing photos. We were lucky to spot at least two types of dolphins in a such close distance that I feel I can almost touch it. The grey whale was a little “shy” that day but we did get the picture of its back. Captain William also helped took many good pictures of us so we can keep the memorable moments. Highly recommend!

My boyfriend & I found Off the Grid boat rentals on Google while vacationing in San Clemente. We ended up booking and the experience was by far our favorite part of the trip.

When we arrived Captain Will was so personable & inviting. He told us he heard about a pot of killer whales & asked if we wanted to check it out. Not only did we have a once in a lifetime experience seeing orcas, but we also saw sea lions & SO many dolphins (swimming right by our boat too) ?

Will knew all of the best spots and we are so happy we picked someone with such a wealth of local knowledge and love for boating. He offered us blankets, local recommendations, & even made us a video to keep.

Seriously- Book this!
