Open Door Legal creates a level playing ground in the legal realm. Staff: attentive, helpful, empathetic, and exudes a willingness to serve. Great asset to the community.

They have different locations they are not just in the Bayview, I actually went to the location in the Fillmore. They acted as if they couldn't send me to the office in the Bayview, even though they are closer to my home. Overall they don't do anything but advocate for their clients. They didn't do any legal work on my behalf.

Open Door Legal is one of the best nonprofits out there. Their committed team, thoughtful leadership, culturally-sensitive attorneys, and deep organizational belief in legal access for all make Open Door Legal an outstanding organization to support. They provide legal access in all civil practice areas to those living in the Bayview/Hunters Point - this shouldn't be such a rare service, but unfortunately is. My personal favorite service ODL provides is low and no-cost estate planning to residents of the neighborhood, which keeps literally millions of dollars in the hands of longtime residents' families. More nonprofits (as well as cities and counties!) should follow Open Door Legal's model of legal access for all.

ODL has the ambitious goal of providing legal representation to everyone and they've grown dramatically since they first started. They are even starting a new center in the Excelsior this year.

Open Door Legal is an amazing legal community resource. I had a serious legal problem of housing discrimination that slumlord unlawfully deprived me of my unit, and I could not get help anywhere else in the City and County of San Francisco. I ended up in the court system on my own, until I found Open Door Legal. I was able to win my case in a settlement, which led me get back into housing. Now, I am back in school studying Master's in Psychology, and graduating in Summer of year 2019.

What happened to servicing the community? If you don't have the right zip code they can't help! SMH!

Open Door Legal has been a great contribution to myself and also to my community. I have learned how to be mote helpful to those wjo are in need of different serbives that the provide and I've learned how to help myself. Open Door legal saved my life snd alsoy two grand children that were living with me during my crisis in my housing unit. GOD sent Adrian and Virginia to Bayview Hunters Point to save a community that was in much need of legal services and self esteem. They have built people in Hunters Point to speak up for themselves allowed us to trust people of other color which was a very big proplem in my community so I give all my BLESSING TO GOD for this journey to build hope, joy and trust in people that care what happens to us
Thank you ODL

I needed help related with my family Law Case and when everyone else turned me down by saying "we can help you but it will take weeks" or "we cant help you get your kids back because it is too complicated and would be months of work". I was so disappointed until I found OPEN DOOR LEGAL. I walked in and the first thing was a hug, some words of hope and I got representation within 3 days. It was overjoyed to have them in my corner and to get the proper help that I need. - Claudia Escobar

I can only speak to my experience with Open Door Legal and I find this organization to be reprehensible; the concept of providing community support and help for people is admirable but that is not what Open Door Legal represents. I am a homeowner who bought a home with tenants in it and wanted to live there alone to establish my family. I started an Ellis Act Eviction which offers over $30k and one year of time to find a new home. Over this past year Ms. Brown, the assigned attorney has been extremely dishonest, manipulative, and urges the tenants to lie often to try different angles of receiving more money. As a 19-year Veteran, I make less than $70k per year, and I have now spent over $80k meeting the needs and complaints of my tenants. I have done everything they asked despite a barrage of the false claims and harassment from Ms. Brown; that is what Open Door Legal represents and supports. Ms. Brown sends a never-ending list of false complaints that I can’t keep up with. Open Door Legal supports this harassing and hateful behavior; I notified Virginia and Adrian the senior leadership there to inform them of the unethical tactics used and they said they fully support what Ms. Brown is doing. This is a grotesque organization that should be looked at by the CA Bar Association and the Better Business Bureau for bad conduct and lack of ethics. If they were providing community support with good faith and good conduct, I would put my full endorsement behind them, but that is not what Open Door Legal is, what they believe in, or who they are. In my experience, they harass, lie, overwhelm, and attempt to drive good people and veterans out of their homes.

ODL has been such a great addition to our neighborhood where the majority of us are SF Originals living within the low income threshold. Before ODL, there has never been a one stop legal resource center for residents like myself that was full service. ODL has helped me with Family Law, Civil Law and assisted me with communicating with the police when needed, The have assisted me with making sure my sons IEP and 504 plans were implemented and met. They go above and beyond. And with out kind heated attorneys who really work for the community, this agency would not be possible. All the staff at ODL are respectful, diligent and show real empathy for our community. Thanks
