Ottavio's Italian Restaurant, Camarillo CA

It was the first time for us to visit Ottavio's and it was delicious. The bread was amazing the price was lower than expected and the wait staff was on point! The restaurant was clean and very well decorated. Great experience! We will be back.

We are happily long time Ottavios customers. I wanted to leave a special shout out to Julie and team, as a thank you for a beautifully organized dinner for 10 I recently picked up. The Lasagna was delicious and even came with baking instructions as I opted to pick it up cold. Platters were ready to set out, and everything was included.
Do not hesitate to call them for catering needs. You will be well taken care of.

Really lovely. A very traditional 'Red Sauce House' the kind you find on the East Coast. Attentive and accommodating staff really made for a great dining experience. Great for groups, great for families, and they offer some lovely opportunities for a romantic dinner for two (call ahead and let them know what you are looking for when you make a reservation).

First of all, the one star review is well deserved after eating at this establishment. I'll get the to the worst part in a bit. We decided to go to Ottavio's for my fiancee's bday since this was recommended by friends. As we arrived, we were welcomed by friendly staff at the front and were taken to our seats. This is were our problems started. The server was nice enough for us to enjoy our evening, but that extra "we are here for you" attitude was missing. This could have been due to the busy night he was having, but that's where the service went downhill. We waited a while to get our drinks, and we didn't get our wine until we asked the third time. Our refils also took longer to the point we weren't enjoying the meal. Now to the horrible part. The food.we orderd the seafood pasta with red sauce. The food was ok tasting, but after a few bites in, I immediately felt something wrong. My stomach was not accepting the food well so I stopped eating. A few minutes later, my worst fear came true and I had an upset stomach and spent about 30 min in their bathroom with diarrhea. I took Pepto and waited until I was ok to leave the restaurant. It gets worse. My fiancee didn't eat her food so she took it home and decided to eat her leftovers later.she shared with my daughter and immediately my fiancee had diarrhea, vomiting, chills and a fever after eating their leftovers. My daugher had a late reaction and I had to pick her up from school after she was feeling nauseous. She also threw up twice and now I have to keep her from school from what her doctor believes is food poisoning. All this from the same food we all ate at Ottavios. Having said this, we looked at the Health Inspection Report for this restaurant and it seems to fail on properly storing food and food related items to protect from cross contamination. The actual comment form the inspector states, "observed raw shrimp, raw breaded chicken, calamari and marinara sauce uncovered in the walk in fridge". I'll add a picture of the inspection report. This was my first time here and I wanted to love it, but unfortunately, I will not be going back and will not recommend this place. I'm sure I could be an isolated issue, but there are other reviews here saying they have also gotten sick from their food. For those that enjoy this place, great! But for me I will say it's not worth the trouble.

A legendary local favorite that never disappoints, was my father's favorite restaurant, I grew up going here and proudly continue the tradition by do I g here whenever I visit

I’ve grabbed lunch from their deli three times in two weeks! Their sandwiches are sooo yummy and ginormous! The customer service is great and the food is so fresh and delicious.

We had lasagna and pasta tutti mare and loved it. The minestrone was outstanfing. Service was great, very nice people. The interior is a bit aged but that just improves the typical atmosphere. Will definitely go again.

4 stars for atmosphere only if you eat in the bar as there are multiple TVs all on different channels and lots of people so pretty noisy. There are two other areas to eat (as well as outside) if you want to avoid.

Went for a private event. The food was pretty good. The service wasn't great, but I did show up late so that might have had something to do with it

I’m a little late to the game on olive oil on your bread but this place helped convert me. Everything here is good. It’s not pretentious, it’s quiet quality. They way they do it too is great in the whole experience. The appetizers arrive hot and quickly and extra plates and sauce are not a problem. The main dishes plate up nice with portion sizes are generous. Can’t decide between Chicken Parm or a spaghetti plate? You get a a side of spaghetti with a dinner. Good stiff drinks and a beautiful foyer. Outdoor dining if that’s your thing too. To go orders are not a problem but the rolls are so good right there in the atmosphere. Love that place. Nice booths too for family.

The people here are great and treat you like family. Everything here is delicious and made in house. 11/10 on my mother recommend this place.

I have loved them my entire life. My family's been going there since the beginning. During the pandemic they were amazing. They were the only place that you can go and get good food for very little. They lower the prices just for that. But now every time I order something and I'm very specific they mess up every order. I think they need to hire new cooks or a new staff. I will no longer go there. I'm done. The food is horrible.

We found that it was very inviting here and the service was great from the workers. I think for what you get the food is a hair over priced. My wife got the baked ziti and I got spaghetti and meatballs. The meatballs were not very good and the pasta was decent but border line could’ve filled my cup up with how much water was at the bottom of the plate.

Passed this spot on the 101 in Camarillo for years and finally tried it tonight. The food was solid. Everything was objectively good, but didn’t wow me necessarily. The 50/50 spaghetti/ravioli hit the spot and the seafood mare had amazing linguine and saffron red sauce, but felt the size of the shrimp and scallops were small and sparse to say the least. The cocktails, got the Italian Margarita personally, were legit though and when we found out the joint had been open since 1969, I realized the restaurant and the numerous customers keep on coming back for its family style and unpretentious vibes.

Such a nice change from the mostly pretentious and far worse priced Italian restaurants in West Lake and Thousand Oaks, except for the one I like, but this is about this Octavios, check it out! A Camarillo Classic it seems with its longevity. Also I rated the friendly service and atmosphere five stars maybe just ordered too basic stuff!

The food was delicious and the price affordable. We were a family of 8 with 5 kids age 9-16. We had different kinds of pastas and pizzas - all very good and big plates. The waiter was chatty and welcoming, a really nice atmosphere.

Not enuf room to sing their praises here. Almost everything homemade from scratch. Marinara sauce, breads, dressings the BEST meatballs ever! Entrés to die for. Insane lasagna and pizzas. Check out their new deli/ marketplace. Unique and delicious sandwiches featuring marinated, slow cooked meats.
