Gross, smelly room - carpets looked like they hadn't been cleaned in years. Smelled like wet-dog (they are pet "friendly" - I'd say!)

Curtain rod - broken.

Front desk service not much better.

It was a last minute booking for a wedding, otherwise I'd have slept in my car.

No parking without paying an extra $45 per night.

Highly recommend Pacific Edge Hotel in Laguna Beach!
Stayed right on the ocean for the same price as any other hotel.
So easy to pop right out on to the beach or Route 1 in a moment.
The Reef Tower room had an incredible spa style soaking tub as well as the view in this picture.
The staff were friendly and easygoing - right there if needed but definitely not overbearing. Fine to dive into the extras, but it is really whatever experience you like. Easy walk to Main Beach and downtown. My room charges were exactly what was expected, to the cent. Love that! Definitely the coolest hotel Ive stayed at for under $200/night.

You must stay in the ocean front rooms for the full experience. Gorgeous views! The rooms are comfortable and clean. They only offer valet parking. Our housekeeper, Graciela, was very sweet and did a great job. You can hear the waves all night long. The breeze in the afternoons is amazing. There is easy access (stairs) for the beach. The restaurants surrounding the hotel are really good too. And there is a grocery store across the street. The room comes with a mini fridge. We came for four days to relax and just spend time at the beach and this is the perfect place to do it.

I have been coming to Pacific Edge for 20 years. They have upgraded the rooms and buildings over the years, giving the place a fresher look. I love that it has so many different room types and room locations, with beach or PCH views to choose from, and the prices are within reason (with on-line discounts offered frequently). The location of Pacific Edge is really convenient to walk to downtown, see tide pools, and the free trolley that runs through summer is always fun to hop on to sight see, or use if you don’t want to travel by foot. Nothing is perfect, but I would say that over the years, 98% of our experiences have been positive and we will continue to stay at Pacific Edge Hotel.

Management is impossible to get a hold of. Always busy and won't return calls when leaving message with front desk.

Do not stay here if your are looking for luxury. I booked the most expensive room because I wanted it to be a memorable experience. It was a nightmare! I checked in to a room full of termites. And they were so incredibly rude about it, saying we can take some off your bill, or we can split your family up or you can leave. I spent my first 8 hours in the room trying to kill these termites and figure out where they were coming from. My dogs were traumatized bc I kept slapping my towel to kill them. I panicked trying to get a hold of the “engineer” to figure out what to do. The “manager” Viq was clearly not trained in customer service and was the most condescending person I’ve ever spoken to in this industry. He basically left for the day without doing anything for me to resolve the bug issue. He and the engineer acted like they didn’t know what kind of bugs they were and sent housekeeping to try to vacuum the bugs up. They were ALL OVER the suite. My son and his wife found them in their bags and none of slept thinking they would bite us in the night. The establishment is so old and full of old wood that was our best guess as to why it was so infested. In additional to them wanting us to pay 3k for the weekend in this “pacific suite” our balcony was over the restaurant and it was so noisy we could not even enjoy sitting out there. It has been a complete train wreck in addition to the windows being propped open to accommodate an “air conditioning unit”
No manager ever came back to fix the bug problem and so we have been left to deal with it and kill them ourselves! Even the engineer said “I’m only one person” and I could not communicate with the housekeeping staff due to language barriers. I have no words for this experience!
I’m so devastated thinking this vacation would be luxurious in Laguna Beach. It is the furthest thing from luxury. Pick a different and updated place! The pictures make it seem different.

You cannot beat this location literally on the sand. Even the rooms that aren’t beach front are a one minute walk to touching the water. It’s just a great vibe and amazing value. Keep in mind it’s $45 to park your car. No self parking available.

Do not come to this hotel. The tower rooms have some sort of sewage problem that is ongoing. These are suites with a corner ocean view. Theres giant bathtubs in the middle of the floor. It should be nice. But it’s disgusting.

We stayed here in 2022 and the rooms smelled like there was a sewer leak. They assured us that there was someone from maintenance called and would deal with it the next day (after we checked out). My family has been coming here since 1985 and this is the last year. Since it’s a family tradition to come to Laguna every year we decided to come this weekend to celebrate a family milestone. The rooms still smell like sewage and the employees play dumb. It is overpriced and absolutely falling apart. We’re a party of 10 so we stayed in several of the buildings and they all equally terrible. The Bahia tower has electrical issues and mold problems in the bathrooms. A single blow dryer running causes the circuit breakers to trip. But only partially. The switch doesn’t actually go all the way across. And the towels are stained.

The elevators are way out of date on their certifications and are rickety and tiny.

This place needs to be bulldozed.

The good news is the pacific coast is long and there are plenty of hotels along the ocean.

Quite upset about the very outdated and dirty room we got that was not shown online when we reserved for our anniversary weekend. It was an unacceptable room which we paid an expensive room rate for - a bait and switch.
No one has given me any explanation on why they don’t show the outdated rooms online and not know what you reserve until you check in. They say ‘sorry’ but they don’t explain. I’m sure I’m not the only one that has experienced this.

We stayed from 9/15-9/18 for my daughter's 32nd birthday. Upon arrival we were greeted by Dylan who had excellent customer service.
Unfortunately once we checked into room 7, I was highly disappointed. I booked a two bedroom suite with kitchen and livingroom. The suite was old and dirty looking. The furniture chipped and stained. The carpet had seen better days about 20 years ago and the room had an strong smell. What really disappointed me the most was my daughter's face when we entered the room. It was sheer disappointment. I told her we would be staying in a beautiful suite for her birthday on the beach and that was not the case. I tried to change rooms but none were available. We were not the only guest who felt the same way. One highlight of the trip was the driftwood kitchen restaurant. The deck restaurant was ok. But the food was better at the driftwood. Another plus was the excellent customer service by Dylan and the other hotel staff, but I don't think that was enough to make a return visit. The pictures the hotel website is deceiving. I paid quite a bit of money for the room and it was not worth it.

Two stars for the only two redeeming qualities of this hotel. Service and the view.

Wife and I stayed only one night but it was enough. The bed was hard, the shower dispensers for shampoo/body wash were empty and the floors were disgusting. The light on porch flickered for a few minutes before giving up and the “unobstructed” view had a large palm tree directly in its path. Overall, it wasn’t bad considering we were right on the beach. Being directly above their restaurant was less than ideal, but not terrible after 10pm when they shut the lights off. The phone in the room did not work. The floors were the worst part, making our feet dirty after taking a shower. Also, they only offer valet parking for $45/night at the time of our stay.

The room was in a dilapidated state in general, and next time I will spend a little more for a nicer hotel.

The two positives we left with were the beachfront view and the customer service. The waves were calming and sang us to sleep. Viq at the front desk was very friendly and got us checked in with haste. He was thorough in explaining how to get to both the valet stand and our room. He also gave us a discount on the valet parking which eased the pain of not having a self park. The gentleman working the night shift also let us borrow a corkscrew to open the wine we had brought with us. Thank you to the staff for the excellent service!

Please please please for the love of god don’t book a room at this hotel. I can guarantee 90% of the good reviews are fake and 95% of the pics you see are fake as well. I paid 277 for one night and ended up checking out 20 minutes after check in. This place is a nightmare. We had a 18 inch tv that barely worked, bathroom floor tiles were broken, squeeky bed that they probably found on the street, stained blankets and sheets, ripped carpet, etc.literally no amount of money or apologies would make up for what I’ve experienced. It’s worse than Motel 6 and I have no idea how they’re still in business. They also unwillingly charged my card 145$ for security deposit and Valet when i never even used Valet and they still haven’t returned my deposit after 20 days. Save your time and money and go literally anywhere else.

UPDATE: it’s been 34 days and i still haven’t gotten my deposit back!

This hotel bought up several smaller hotels so the room quality varies hugely depending on which building you're in. Reef is a fave.

It would be hard to find a better location in Laguna. Unfortunately, the customer service here continues to disappoint and the rooms and amenities are poor. If you are ok with being price gouged for a Motel 6 like room and you only care about location this is the place for you.

Truth be told, I booked this hotel because of the beautiful pictures of the room. After I booked, I started to go through the reviews and immediately wanted to cancel. I’m so glad I didn’t. My room was beautiful, right on the beach. My check in guy was thee best and so was my valet guy. They both went above and beyond. I know it’s not the least expensive place, however, you are paying for location. It is absolutely worth it. I love hearing the ocean. I would definitely book again.

Stay away from this hotel! The rooms are extremely dirty. Front desk staff are so burned and overwork that they no longer care about their customers. You’re better off staying at a Motel 6. The rooms that the hotel advertise are not accurate. Is overpriced for a cheap road hotel.
