Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History reviews
14Adorable little museum. When we visited there was a wonderful collection of Nature Illustrations from the local college students, quite impressive work! It’s a cute place to explore and free for PG residents, definitely worth a visit.
What a gem! An incredible museum. Take time to open the drawers and use the guides. Layers and layers of artifacts and specimens. So glad we stopped, and so affordable for what your see and learn.
The best museum in Monterey. They recently updated it and added some very cool areas to check out. This museum also hosts events and a reward program for learning about nature and cleaning up the area. Highly recommend visiting.
A quirky little museum. Very reminiscence of museums I remember as a child. Lots of stuffed animal exhibits and several hand in activities, but definitely low tech
They were very friendly and had a great collection for all ages. I have already recommended them to several friends and family members for their next trip to Monterey.
Maybe not the greatest natural history museum you'll ever visit. But props to PGMNH for preserving and displaying key elements of the region's story in an accessible fashion. It's important work.
Such a beautiful museum with way more to offer than I had anticipated! The huge collection of taxidermy birds was my favorite. There were a few identification mix ups on a few of the species though, so I hope the staff catches these. Pictured is a juvenile Cooper’s hawk labeled as a Red-tailed hawk. Another thing I noted was the labels for the Vaux’s swift and White-throated swift was swapped. Regardless, my partner and I both had a great time! Will definitely be back in the future.
Came here for a homeschool class. I liked the museum and how the class was taught. The kids got to learn some stuff from adults and then do a scavenger hunt for information as well as just discover stuff on their own. The museum itself has some pretty interesting stuff to look at. All of the displays had information on them, but some felt like they were lacking. It's still a good place to go. The wonder room is really cool. Definitely stop by and at least get a picture with Sandy the whale.
Beautiful museum with lots of taxidermized animals on display. It is sometimes used as a small event/meeting space.
Excellent museum full of a variety of items which should peak the interest of all curious folks, especially younger children.
Fantastic museum with an amazing display of birds as well as a variety of other California animals. Super kid friendly as well. Enjoyed our visit and looking forward to returning!
Very recommended for all ages!
We really enjoyed this museum. They have a good collection of taxidermy birds and animals and I found the history and small diorama of the Chinese fishing village fascinating.
The stand out is the wonder exhibit. This exhibit is incredible, our kids are adults but I know they would have loved it and I think that any kid would find wonderment in this room. This exhibit was truly well done.
A note to the museum manager. PLEASE UP YOUR MERCH GAME! Honestly we were disappointed because we wanted a shirt or hat. As a suggestion commission the artist that is showcased on the second floor to make a design to put on shirts or hats.
A lovely little museum tucked away in pacific grove that has a mixture of human & natural history of the region, a fun and educational place to visit with older children to teens or even if you're just adults interested in the history of the region
A very good small museum. Mostly aimed at kids but adults can probably kill an hour or so here.
