Pacific House Museum reviews
3It took me far too long to visit this museum. I would pass the building almost daily until I ventured in through the garden gate. I was pleasantly surprised by the garden and grounds behind the museum. What a peaceful place to slip away from the hustle and bustle of the wharf. The museum is very well done.
Brilliant Beautiful place! We witnessed the Hookah Lounge Restaurant Employee dressed in all black attire cut off several flowers and steal them for the restaurant he works at right across from the Pacific House Museum. We called the Ranger and the Museum. This is sickening that they steal the flowers for their table decor! A wonderful Museum.
The Pacific House museum does a credible job of telling the story of early Monterey, from the time before Spanish settlement through the time of heavy trading. The very best part of the museum, in my opinion, is the vast collection of Native tools, textiles and baskets on the second floor. I was the only one there, but the first floor wasn't terribly crowded either. If you're looking for something more to do than shop and eat, this place is worth a look. And it's free, to boot.
