Restaurant Papa’s Place reviews
17Just tried going, something seemed a little off. We went in to be seated and, even though there was a table available to our left as we entered, having no reserved table sign, the hostess said there were no tables available. Plus, there were tables available outside. When my wife asked how long of a wait to be seated at a table, the hostess said she didn't know. Very odd. We left, since it seemed they were OK without our business. The hostess was not apologetic at all.
Loved everything about this place. The food was delicious, the drinks were on point with top shelf brands and the service is outstanding. Live music can't be beat either.
Staff was very accommodating. I primarily went to hear friends performing. The place was packed and there were no tables available. I explained why I was there and, since I was planning to stay for friends' entire gig, I was willing to wait in the breezeway until a table became available. My wait was short and was exactly where I was hoping to sit. I only ordered a couple of glasses of wine during my time there but the waitress was very attentive and friendly. I truly do enjoy going to Papa's Place when my friends, Fire and Rain, perform there.
The food is really good. The waitresses and bartender are topnotch. It's a small place, it has an old time feeling which is nice. The deep fried strawberries were sooooooo good.
Even though the place is small, we had a great time; we enjoyed the food and the live music was a plus.
Papa’s Place was alright. The wife and I piped in for dinner tonight. I was a little out off because it’s a small place and they had live music and it was a little loud and the band wasn’t that great lol. We started out with the fried green beans which were ok, I had the pork belly and it was just ok to, the wife had the cob salad and she enjoyed it. Service was good, parking was good and ambiance was ok too. I’d go back again if I had to haha. Go check them out and have your own experience
My first visit here was 1 year ago on our first date. Excellent food, drinks, rotating entertainment, and service keep us coming back all the time!
The One Restaurant in Clovis where I feel "at home! " Pork Belly's a must have, perfectly crisp fry's. Everything is Yummy. Excellent love music Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Harrison Rocks the Drinks and the warmth of Paula is worth longing for!
Too much beans in white bean chicken chili otherwise everything tastes delicious and server was extra sweet and nice.
We enjoyed the live music.the ambiance is really nice but the smell of the deep Fryer all over the place is terrible.they really need to do something about that.we were sitting outside and you could even smell it there.the Service outside was a little slow.we were waiting for drinks which took so long that my wife went herself to the Bar and got us drinks.the Barkeeper was great!
Amazing place with Great food and drinks. We enjoyed our time outside with the live band and dancing. I would definitely recommend coming here to just relax or definitely a great spot for a date night. I will definitely be back.
Fabulous little restaurant.
Food is good and the bread pudding is amazing! Lovely atmosphere and live music. We stumbled across it on the first night of our stay and ended up back on the second.
I do not understand how this place has good ratings. It’s 90 degrees inside the building at all times. Our server forgot our order multiple times, left our drinks at the bar for several minutes, didn’t give us silverware. The food has the same quality as a TGI Fridays.
If it was busy I would understand, but we were one of two tables inside the entire restaurants. Once we finished our food, we had to wait 20 minutes for the server to come speak to us. Was he busy? No. He was standing around the bar chatting. No food was on the table, all our waters were empty, and yet, he did not approach for 20 minutes. An hour dinner took nearly 2 and a half because of our server standing around.
It’s an example of someone who knows nothing about the service industry opening a restaurant because they see it as a good business opportunity. Downtown Clovis is, sadly, full of these type of restaurants.
Can you say yummm! You certainly can’t say no to deep fried fresh strawberries! Or maybe the bread pudding? A big yes to Maple pecan cheese cake!
Great vibe.great music and drinks.food was good.love the grilled cheese.came on st Patty's day.didn't get a picture of my sandwich though but the shrimp mac and cheese. Bomb!
Pros:
- Friendly and fast service.
- Warm and inviting ambiance with an outdoor heated patio as well as live music.
- Cocktails were creative and tasty.
Cons:
- "Cajun food" is not an adequate description of their food. Flavor is a halmark of traditional Cajun cuisine, and the food that they served lacked seasoning to say the least.
- Overpriced for the quantity and quality of what is served.
Their jambalaya consisted of mainly rice with very little sausage, chicken, and shrimp. While the pork belly was tender, there was no flavor in the meat and the sides left much to be desired. I recommend getting the side of fries rather than the salad which was ordinary and very small for the price of the meal.
We absolutely love Papa's Place! Always great service and delicious food! My kids loved the mac n cheese (huge portion) and I even snuck a few bites, too! Fried Pickles are very good and remind me of my time spent in the south. Definitely recommend.
