Delicious soups, salads and sandwiches as well as pastries. Nice atmosphere and good customer service.

Went for a coffee in the morning on a Friday. The place is cute not overly crowded. The cakes looked great.
The carrot muffin I had was ok. But nothing too special. Prices weren’t bad. For two latte and two pastry 14.50$
I would consider returning

Although communication could be improved (multiple emails and calls back and forth), the wedding cake and petit fours turned out amazing for my wedding. They were simply delicious! I asked them to bake a cake that was tiramisu flavored but make it look like a wedding cake. You know how tiramisu is.it can be droopy and look sloppy, but the chef worked wonders and recommended a different type of cream base. Highly recommend this place! The only constructive criticism I have is the communication through email and the payment (could be simplified). I recommend you go in and talk with them for easier communication! While you are there, get a lemon danish to go.they are delicious.

I’ve been coming here since 2013. Sadly I moved away, but this bakery is always my first stop whenever I’m in town. The quiche, croissants, everything are so yummy. Great lunches too.

Note: dining in is the back. It's interesting that a baker with a German last name is baking French. Five stars for being unique in that aspect. If you actually prefer German style, Pavel's is another great option. And for French pastries, P&L is the place. TBH, I could get the same quality pastries and cakes from Safeway across the street from Bechler's for half the price but I'd be supporting a multinational corporation and enriching the already rich C level executives and stock holders instead of a local mom and pop store so yeah kudos for sticking around for decades in the neighborhood!

10/10 favorite bakery for me. Pastries are always fresh and delicious, great quiche, and good atmosphere if you eat in.

The apricot kouign aman was extremely delicious, it almost had a custard bread pudding like texture with apricot (jam) in the center with a gooey carmelized bottom, very generously sized, definitely something you want to share between two people with coffee. I’ve had this just once before and it didn’t come close, it was really the standout item in our breakfast. Everything you would imagine Christmas morning breakfast would be (at least based on our family traditions). Apparently they only make it on Saturday. We arrived right when they opened so they were very fresh. My grandfather who came from German Swiss immigrants would have loved this (he would make an Americanized version of this which he learned how to bake from his mother.) When I asked what they are really well known for I was told it was their blueberry muffins, I didn’t try those because perhaps this is not such a unique thing to have on a vacation where you really hope to find something you couldn’t find at home, THIS was definitely IT! I really recommend you come visit on a Saturday and give this a try (think very sophisticated version of a sticky bun). The ham and cheese croissant had extremely delicious cheese. I highly recommend not asking to have it heated up as it returns the croissant to a doughy texture on the inside. Unfortunately there was not much of a selection at 7am (just a few trays of muffins and croissants and some beautiful celebration cakes) ; the pastry case was not full like you see in some of the review photos. The espresso was fairly good, I appreciated that they actually used a heat thermometer to avoid scalding the milk (the decaf was not as good as the full caf). All the staff wore masks, very professional but not super friendly but perfunctory; the chef was kind enough to talk with me a bit; the inside dining room was very charming, the decor was filled with beautiful vintage children’s illustrations from Holland. This cafe has a very vintage feeling to it that feels like you are back in Solvang.

Pâtisserie Bechler says it's a fine pastry shop but I didn't see much care or pride put into the pastries. They were messy looking, too breast, and lacked flavor. The apple tart was full of a runny caramel liquid and so soggy it was inedible. I threw it out.

Maybe they had a bad day but I won't visit again. The area has so many incredible pastry shops, sadly this doesn't seem to be one of them.

I have come here several times and have nothing but great things to say about the quality of the food, the service, and relaxing sitting area. Last weekend I picked up a large volume order of pastries for our daughter's wedding and was not disappointed. They were beautiful, fairly priced, and tasted amazing. They gave the dessert table a lovely touch of local class. Thank you, Patisserie Bechler!

Absolutely delicious cake. Received a brazilia cake as a gift from Patisserie Bechler. I cannot express how delicious it was. Be prepared, this is a chocolate lover's dream and a very rich cake. Highly recommend for those who love happiness and chocolate in their life. Can't believe I haven't been to this patisserie before, but after that cake, I will be visiting to try some of their pastries and other offerings.

We found this because we were looking to pass time while charging our car, and ooohhhhh what a find! It was scrumptious, and so good that I did not want it it to end. A wonderfully well extracted cappuccino, combined with deliciously flavorful pastries that were so far beyond our expectations. Patisserie Bechler is now considered a "must go"!

Pastries that are so delicious and sublime they make me weep every time I bite into one. Their dough has flavors only found in the best Parisian shops. Sadly, there is great competition for the best of the best so they can run out of choices, so try to get there early. Try not to miss the blueberry muffins or the chocolate custard danish. By the way, they now take credit cards.

Took almond croissant and eclairs. Croissant is huge, it’s really big, and delicious. And eclair. I can’t really describe it, but it’s more than just wonderful. Fresh, full of filling, chocolate top. I really enjoyed it to the end. Magical!

Visited Jan 29 2020. The pastries are awesome! We tried three different slices of pastry - All are fresh and so good - I wanted to get some more but thought about my stomach and how I needed to reduce the size of it. Will come back for more when visiting Pacific Grove in the future.
