We had a great meal here, with excellent and friendly service and a nice ambiance. This place is more like a bistro than a fancy and formal restaurant, which I prefer. We tried the duck confit, which was generous and exceptional, and the salmon in parchment paper which was excellent as well. The prices were reasonable, especially given the generous portions. Great find.

The patisserie side of this place is great, with many good french pastries, like the Paris-Brest, ganaches, etc. However, the restaurant food isn't quite up to the same level - it is not bad, but it really does not use the seasonings, herbs (and butter!), that you'd expect from a French restaurant. Other than the quiche and the coquilles, all the rest could belong to a regular contemporary american restaurant, and a lot of the dishes seem not that fresh. The overall ambiance, location and service is quite nice though.

We just ate a fabulous lunch here. We started with a lovely French Onion soup as a starter. Then we moved on to our entrees. My wife had the chicken pot pie and I had a shepherd’s pie. We will debate for some time which was better but they were both excellent. Our server was spot on with just enough attention to make us feel pampered but not overwhelmed. A really enjoyable lunch and we will most certainly return for more of that great French Onion soup…

Only reason I saw it gets four and not five star is a lot of items were sold out when we got there. Should go early in the day on the weekend. The thing we did not like was the pretzel that we got was hard. Not sure if that’s how’s it’s supposed to be but was not good.

This is a must if you are visiting Carmel by the sea. We made our reservations a week and half out for a Saturday and time slots were already filling up so make yours well in advance. You walk in and are immediately met with the beautiful sights in the pastry counter. A friendly greeting and a heartfelt welcome and then a short walk into a setting that is warm and inviting. Our server was so friendly and warm we felt like family. The Beef short ribs are one of my most common orders and this dish was among my favorites of all time. The other order at the table was the Ossobuco from the specials. The meat was so tender and the flavors amazing. We paired with an Italian Red and finished with Pot au Chocolat. I highly recommend dining here and we will definitely return if we come back through town.

We came for the desserts, but they didn’t allow us to get a table because we wouldn’t have lunch. It wouldn’t take more than 10 minutes, we would have had a good perception about the place. We left with a kid crying because he wanted the cake

Excellent food, mediocre service- and as competition is so high in the area, it really drags the rating down. We were strolling around Carmel at 7pm, after drinks and a light dinner, and thought we’d stop by for dessert, as the restaurant’s name is “patisserie”. When I asked the blonde ponytailed lady at the counter if we could just have dessert, she said they were serving dinner at the time, but we could have dessert to go. That’s the last thing she said to us. We stood there for ten minutes debating what to order, and she never offered us one word of advice or even acknowledgement. The restaurant owner had to come up from the back and take our order himself, and he was polite and offered us disposable forks himself. Baked goods were excellent.

Been here for dinner and pastry take out respectively. Nice atmosphere. Dinner was good, the taste was likely an American cuisine than French. We were fine though because of their great and friendly service.
Must try their pastries/cakes. They were so delicious and beautiful. Prices are a bit expensive but worth it.
Will come back again.

We were a party of 8 which is sometimes daunting for a smaller restaurant. The foos and the service were superb. And the desserts…OMG. I will definitely be returning.

Cute French vibe restaurant and bakery! Beautiful lunch experience. Got their French Onion Soup, their famous Quiche Maison and Chicken Pot Pie. Delicious, filling and unique. Food is tasty and fresh and healthy. Very nice presentation of the Chocolate Mousse cake! Don't leave without getting their display pastries for the road. Staff are great. Close to the shopping center and the main street. Come here if the other restaurants are busy.

This is the most charming, delicious restaurant in Carmel! Not only is the food delicious and the desserts beyond scrumptious, but the staff, servers and management are extremely personable and down to earth. I had the special Cobb salad and French onion soup for lunch and all the ingredients were extremely fresh and the presentation was such an art. I couldn’t decide which dessert to choose from so I tried multiple! The banana cream pie was my favorite and to top it off the coffee was delicious! I definitely will back to try more entrees and desserts! Thank you for such a memorable dining experience Patisserie Boissiere.

Yucky food, not French at all. If you can’t master a croissant and a quiche, you should not be in business. French toast made of stale brioche? No, thank you! So easy to fall prey in such a touristy spot as CBTS.

I sure did come to your place last week, would you like me to post an expensive receipt for your mediocre food?

We ate lunch in the restaurant today. The pot pie is really good. Our server was always in a hurry and nobody filled our water cups at all. Our bill was charged a 20% gratuity and nobody informed us before. When we asked another server, he said no gratuity was charged until he saw our bill. Our server then came and said “yes, you don’t need to put extra tip. ” But the service did not deserve a 20% tip. Not sure if this is a standard in this restaurant, but apparently not all servers know this. Has this happened to any other people dining in this restaurant?

Beautiful little restaurant. Cozy and charming atmosphere. Service was excellent. Was a bit disappointed in the food though. Maybe I didn't order the right things. The French onion soup was great! The stuffed mushrooms were too soggy and mushrooms overcooked. Pasta with shrimp had good flavor but pasta was overcooked and did not like the cheese placed in a plastic to go cup. Kinda weird. The baked brie was good but not special. Desserts are pretty! I'll come back and just choose different options.

We were really looking forward to getting some pastries and coffee from this place based on the reviews but were denied dine in by the owner, and there was nobody in the restaurant. Left immediately and didn’t feel welcomed. Would never go there again.

My husband and I have been customers for years. It's always fresh, delicious, and reliably good. Best French onion soup we've ever had. Pastries delicious.
