Customer service sometimes lacks and trucks have broken down on us or been given to lease holders last minute on us but otherwise they're easily accessible and quick to work with. Prices are to be desired but so is everything else these days.

Friendly fast and efficient! We arrived just after 8 am it took about 20 minutes to include a quick orientation and them topping off the DEF. Truck was new and clean. They even cleaned the windows and mirrors one last time before I left.

If I could leave a "0" I would. They just called me at 5: 30 Saturday evening to inform me the truck I reserved in advance for tomorrow morning was not available and they only option I had was to pick a truck up 45 miles from home. Period, no other choices. All of the rental companies are now closed and I don't have a truck for tomorrow. Thanks for absolutely nothing. My advise: rent from another company.

If you have 1 hour to waist just to get fuel or want your truck to come back with rattle after basic service then this is the place.
Nice people just terrible incompetent

I would give zero stars if possible. The staff canceled my reservation, failed to let me know until I walked in the door four days later, and smugly let me know that they don’t care. Go somewhere else- these people feel entitled to your money and will happily put you out without any effort to actually fix a problem they create.

Service with Jason at this location is horrible! He does not follow through with customers at all or disclose full information. I was expecting specific charges (along with how it was was going to be invoiced) and was billed completely different with zero warning of the altered charges or how it was going to be before he charged my account. Zero communication to me is absolutely horrid service.

Penske Mission Valley is a Joke! I recommend anyone looking to rent, to rent else where. Budget and Enterprise way better in pricing customer service. Here is my story

Rented a Diesel 2018 Isuzu 20k GVWR from Penske Mission Valley a Wednesday afternoon. I noticed i rented it under the wrong buisness name, mentioned it to them and Mr. Luis Juarez made it sound like it was easy to fix. Since i have too companies, one has simply better insurance.without warning Penske charge around 500usd insurance for the first week because "Certification of Libility" wasnt turned in on time. My insurance lady sent it to them that Monday before contract ended.thats was ONE issue

Thursday morning loaded the truck, Worked fine. Thursday afternoon i get a call from a rep saying truck need "preventive maintenance" and if i would please bring the truck in. I said Yes.soo i go drop off the truck and Mr. Eric He, promised to return the truck Saturday at 6am. SATURDAY morning. I arrive to Penske Mission Valley at 7am and suprise surprise.truck was not ready! Since Mr. He said truck would be returned, my Saturday load was in that truck.soo basically since truck wasnt ready Mr. He offered to go to Miramar Branch to pick up a 26ft Freightliner. I head over to Miramar Penske and after they relese the truck had 2 CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS.now at the time Mr. Luis was at that branch. He personally drove the truck into service dept. SURPRISE SURPRISE. I COULDNT TAKE THE TRUCK BECAUSE HAD VARIOUS PROBLEMS.soo Miramar Branch Rep (cant remember the rep name) tell me that Mr. He called him that they were recieving a drop off.soo i get sent back to Penske Mission Valley.went arriving to mission valley Mr. He calls me telling me, "miramar branch recieved a drop off, go back". Soo all of this was happening Saturday morning while i was supose to be working, NOT CHASING A TRUCK! I LOST A WHOLE DAY OF SALE IN MY BUISNESS DUE TO PENSKES BAD COORDINATION! IT GETS BETTER! After going back and forthh from mission valley to miramar branch i finally pick up a 2017 Hino 26ft truck.soo by the time i transfer all my load from truck to truck it was already 1pm which was too late to deliver anywhere.going back to the insurance situation. Thursday prior to return rental i show up at the branch and Mr. He said, we was going to credit me for the 500usd insurance charge for the following week. AGAIN THIS CHARGE SHOULD EXIST BECAUSE PAPERWORK WAS SENT ONTIME. I drop off truck on Saturday Sep 11, Mr. He never gave me my 500usd credit and charge me 678usd twice.

Dont recomend for Anyone to rent at Penske

It was our third time renting a truck from this spot in Mission Valley!

The first time a lady helped us out but she messed some things up in the contract, following with a too high security deposit that I had to wait 3 days for to get returned. (make sure that this will be correct before they get the payment through otherwise you have to wait before you get your money back).

We were mad but had the second time no choice because the other rental companies had no trucks for us.
Desperately went back to this location again and got a small talk with a gentleman that goes by the name of Erick. He was very helpful and gave us his word that he would do everything to make sure we would be fairly set for the second time.
As he said, everything was set for us and he even called us to go through the contract one more time and see if we had everything like we wanted/needed.

The second time went so well that the third time when we were in need of a truck we knew where to go. Erick helped us again and everything went as good as possible.

We think it depends on the person that helps you and it seemed like that lady wasn't motivated to do her job in a correct way where Erick was!

3 stars from us until all the rental employees are as helpful!

Trucks for standard rental are in demand and at far above relative pricing from a year or two ago (written June 2021), but Penske offers price for value (value, here, is objective) in line with competing companies. For those seeking newer, low-odometer truck rentals that SHOULD offer greater reliability and more automotive modernity, Penske generally outclasses other truck/van rentals in 'value. ' If the aforementioned qualities are of less importance to you, cheaper options can generally be found amongst other companies.

1 star was subtracted primarily because the additional comprehensive insurance fee was more than what the original fee stated in a phone call in which my truck was booked two weeks prior to rental pick-up. Also, the box-moving dolly that was rented for an additional charge was in TERRIBLE condition, and barely useable! Do not assume accessory rentals will be in as decent a condition as your truck, is the lesson here.

Always accommodating. Of they don't have the size truck that I need, they give me options. Or bring one in from another branch.

Julian was an amazing help with getting us the best pricing for our upcoming move. We went through several options to find the best pricing. He even called me back after having a line of customers he had to take care of (politely asked if he could call me back to finalize everything due to the line). Very professional and courteous and seemed like he truly cared about his customers! Thanks Julian!

This has been the worst experience I've had with penske. I've using them for 18 years and this experience made me question myself why. I made a reservation a day before and was confirmed and then I get there and they don't have a truck for me (26 foot bulk truck) I was there for an hour till the guy said he found one in Santee I was already coming from otay mesa and now I had to drive further. ‍️ fine atleast we got a truck.we get to Santee home depo and they have no information about us coming to pickup this truck we were for another hour and thirty minutes till they figured it out.such bad service!
