Pep Boys, Encinitas CA

I have been going to Pep Boys for the last few oil changes. You can make an appointment and it takes about 1 hr. They usually have a coupon so the price is reasonable. Nice guys working the customer service desk.

Made an appointment for 4pm at 2pm. Got a call an hour before appt that they “too busy”. And got a notification that they cancelled based on my request! Also was told I can’t schedule an appointment so late in a day. You guys are closing at 7pm! Ha. Someone does not want to do their job.

Worst experience.lifetime alignment not honored as the car was not serviced by them.was not told this when I purchased the lifetime alignment. NEVER get their lifetime alignment as they will find ways to get out of it.come on guys.it's called "lifetime" for a reason and it should go with the car!

We had an absolutely perfect experience the other day when we dropped in for a set of windshield washer blades. Stuart and Alex were behind the counter and dealt with us professionally and efficiently. While we were disappointed that the retail store was closed due to an ownership change, the item we needed was available and Joaquin quickly installed them at no charge. Three cheers for all three gentlemen! We will be back when service is needed for our vehicles.

I always bring my car to pepboys for 7yrs already and i have no issues with them ever since.

Stopped in to have my battery checked. They looked at it immediately, found the right battery for my car, and had it back to me within an hour.

We had a screw in our tire on a Sunday. No other shops are open to help except Pep Boys! They were very busy but still fit us into their schedule! Unfortunately the tire was beyond repair, and they honored my warranty and offered a couple options on buying a new tire with a discounted rate. An affordable option and a slightly higher option. It was a very easy experience and I really appreciate their help and being open on a Sunday! Thanks, guys!

I arrived a few minutes prior to my appointment and am informed that they don’t have any record of my appointment. I showed my email confirmation and then am told that I should have called as their electronic appointment system often doesn’t show the online schedules or take into account how many people are already scheduled. It just adds on appointments regardless of the real schedule. They’ll take care of me but it might be an hour or more to install a battery. I’m not pleased as I’ve got other commitments but need a battery. The service gets done but seriously if they want to stay in business, get into the 21st century and get their act together on scheduling electronically. Some customer service training wouldn’t hurt also. Just a poor overall experience though I did at least get the battery.

Very shady.don't trust these guys with your car. They wanted 400 to tighten a screw that holds the parking brake shoes in the back wheel. They wanted to replace the whole thing. After I refused the service they held my car hostage for half a day. Saying the mechanic left. These are the people who give mechanics a bad name. And they kept raising their diagnostic fee every time I called them. Please stay away from these people.

Good shop for getting quality work done but expensive! Over $1,200 for brakes and a wheel bearing.

The guys at the encinitas Pep Boys were understaffed but SUPER nice and accomodating. I appreciated their service and taking care of my needs.

Stuart helped me out a lot, cut my costs as much as he could. Very transparent and professional!

If I can out negative stars, I would. Service advisor Stuart was not friendly at all until the end when he graciously took the money for the services. He was very rude and spoke to us as if we we’re bothering him. We definitely did not feel wanted. Technician Makana? He did not work with urgency in fact working so slow. Tech “forgot” to torque down the lug nuts to spec. When I had mentioned that to the service advisor he said they normally do which I had watched him install it back onto the vehicle. Contacted the tech and he did in fact admit in fault for “forgetting”. The location was not busy at all. It was a late Sunday evening and I am not sure why they wouldn’t want to get the sale until the end. As a retail manager this act of service was very unprofessional. My wife and I were rudely spoken to and the craft behind it all was a mess. If I hadn’t told him what to do, we would probably have drove down the freeway and cause an accident because a tire was not tighten to spec. Also, they claim to sanitize the vehicle. That is also a lie. This whole transaction was a joke. If I didn’t have to drive an hour and a half away from my house. I would have rolled on my spare until I can go to another trusted tire shop. I do not recommend. You get what you pay for over here. Complete trash. I really hope this gets straighten out for the future customer this establishment would be lucky to have.

Brought my car in for a brake inspection. Alex assisted me, from the beginning he was extremely helpful, explaining the situation, informing me of the wait time, and overall reassuring me that the situation would be taken care of. This place has been around a long while and is constantly busy, they got me in and out really quick. I am completely satisfied with the service I was given, confirming my reasoning why I bring my car to the Encinitas location whenever I need help. Thank you Alex, and the PepBoys team for your outstanding work and customer service, this place does not get enough credit!

I drove up thinking it was an auto parts store, but figured I'd ask for help anyway. I needed a screwdriver as my rear blinker was out! I came in with my awkward request to borrow a screwdriver and I'm sure they'll remember this one After checking with the mechanics to make sure he wasn't taking anyone's tools, the gentleman at the front allowed me to borrow a screwdriver. I already had the spare bulb and *thought* I had a screwdriver in my emergency kit. I let him know my car was right in front and he could see and know I'm just quickly replacing the bulb. I live an hour away and the bulb went out while driving up to a doctor's appointment. I also have pain in my back today and using arm signals to change lanes and turn for an hour just wasn't going to cut it. Helping with my odd little request and being light-hearted about it made my burden a little lighter today. Thanks to helping someone in need!

100,000 mile check up for my 2005 Ford SUV. Also had my rear brakes serviced. Good news that my front brakes were fine. Alex, as usual, was responsive, knowledgeable, and my car was ready early! I continue to be a happy client.

Alexandro Arguelles is a knight in shining armor. I am a senior citizen that struggles with my vehicle. He is always there to help me with little things that need attention, but maybe not a service…. It is people like him that keep people coming back to Peo Boys! Please give him a raise!
